paloma orrin// imperial knight 35. former sith. near-human. cute bruiser. anti-nihilist. challenge seeker. "rise and rise again, until lambs become lions." On the surface, Paloma is both smart and perceptive, and finds no difficulty in pointing out what those around her would rather keep concealed - generally with a wry, sarcastic remark delivered in a near-perfect deadpan. She presents herself as a cynic, first and foremost, though she is undeniably an emotional and empathetic person beneath the layers of self-preserving skepticism. Though she tries to keep the galaxy at a distance, Paloma ultimately wears her heart on her sleeve: she is passionate, wild, and throws herself headlong into most situations, eager to defy her own expectations of what she can and cannot do. Once a Sith, the death of her mother - a woman who sought to control her daughter at every turn - has, over time, allowed her to become her own woman. One who is not defined by darkness, and who now actively fights back against the Sith. Paloma is extroverted and people oriented. She has a natural, effortless charm that shows through even on her bad days, and even when at her most snarky or sarcastic, there's a kind of playful – if not completely harmless – undercurrent to everything she says. She shrugs off criticism and negativity with ease, though when it comes to friends and associates, she's less willing to turn a blind eye regarding those who might speak of them poorly, or (Force forbid) do them harm. She's driven to help people, but doesn't believe in thrilling heroics: ideally, Paloma would help others help themselves – rather than solving their problems in a more immediate way – so that when the time comes where others might wish for outside intervention, they're capable of being their own "heroes", instead. That isn't to say she's content to let people rot if they can't pull themselves out of whatever situation they're in, she can and will go out of her way to ensure the safety of friends and strangers alike, she's just more a "teach a man to fish" kind of person who, for all her generosity, dislikes complacency and codependency. At her core, Paloma is an emotional and humanistic woman. She cares for others deeply – doing the right thing isn't a question of what's convenient or efficient. She's prone to falling into moral dilemmas and often gets herself into trouble trying to do the "right thing," regardless of the potentially disastrous consequences. There is no such thing as acceptable losses. Every life matters, and (mostly) everyone who isn't an unrepentant Dark Sider deserves a second chance. That said, redemption isn't a passive thing: she fights for her own redemption, and expects others to do the same. Obviously, she isn't perfect: though she's slow to anger she does have a temper, and given her desire to get along with most people, she's guilty of internalizing a lot of her rage. Paloma's fury is quiet, methodical, and uncannily serene. Similarly, she doesn't believe in holding back when it comes to combat: if someone's earned her wrath, then they've earned all of it. She isn't the type to do her enemy a small injury; overkill isn't so much a word in her vocabulary as it is a viable combat strategy. Perhaps unsurprisingly, she's awful at accepting help from others. Paloma doesn't like feeling like a charity case, and so more often than not she'll try and ignore her issues or solve them on her own, regardless of whether or not there's someone willing and/or qualified to help her with them. She also harbors a lot of guilt about her "past life," and struggles in knowing all the suffering she's caused, directly or otherwise. Cliche as it is, she really - really - doesn't like to talk about it. Paloma is, unfortunately, allergic to any semblance of routine. She grows bored and restless easily, and is prone to doing reckless things to stave off boredom. She can be quiet, and isn't especially bothered by silence as long as she's doing something, though having to sit still and not talk, not play with anything, not amuse herself in some manner is enough to drive her mad. force abilities
