The Universal Survival Rifle is designed to be easily broken down, maintained, and moved for the survivalist on the go. There are no pins to remove or screws to finagle; the rifle snaps together using a snaplock system, and each segment is released with the push of a button. It comes with a low-profile case that can be stored in large packs for easy transportation. It is not designed for armor penetration, and as such will struggle against light armor and fail to penetrate medium or heavy. This can be circumnavigated by discharging all five shots of the minicanister at once, which releases a much more powerful bolt that is capable of penetrating most medium man-made armors and most natural armor.

The USR-5 is a specialized tool for hunting, and is efficient at bringing down small or large game with its small, precise shot. It is accurate to 500m stock, and the range can be enhanced by the upgrade of the barrel. The relatively inexpensive rifle is made mostly of duraplast polymer to keep it lightweight, with its only durasteel parts being the barrel and upper receiver (though some internals are metal as well). The USR-5 is designed to break down into five modular parts (gas canisters not included):

Some parts are able to be disassembled more thoroughly for replacement of internal parts or cleaning, but these parts are considered modular by Pondervan Interplanetary and are licensed for aftermarket customization.
