The trip to the Hammer of Barab is surprisingly comfortable. Instead of the usual Imperial Military Transport, the dozens of soldiers selected for the Project EFFIGY trials are treated to a VIP yacht reserved for their personal use until their arrival. The journey from the processing facility on Korriban to the massive vessel in orbit over Coruscant takes several days thanks to numerous stops to pick up ranking members of the Imperial Military. However, all good things come to an end. Eventually, the vessel finds itself docking with the Hammer of Barab and the officers around the candidates usher them through the airlock and onto the capital ship.

The candidates are lead quickly through the ship until they arrive at what had once been one of the vessels hangar bays. It has since been refitted to function almost like a field hospital. Numerous beds set out in rows with medical droids and organic specialists milling about in preparation. Next to each bed a narrow box with a thumbprint lock is set atop the tools pan. Above the candidates, the security booth is well lit and numerous officials have taken up positions to observe the proceedings. The candidates are lined up in rows and a sole Bothan wearing the markings of a Major stands in a crisp pose.

"Troopers! I do hope you have enjoyed your journey here. Unfortunately. The fun is at an end. I am Major Syrr Mel'yat, behind me are the scientists responsible for Project EFFIGY. You have each been given a great opportunity in furthering the cause of Imperial Expansion. The Colonel has instructed me to tell you that each of you will be assigned a specialist to provide you with the injection. The Injection will be painful and will result in certain changes to your physiology. If you have any doubts, it is best to speak them now. You will be demoted two ranks and returned to the field. That is all." He said in a clipped tone.

The scientists appear to be working frantically along with the droids to get everything set up just the way they want it. Imperial efficiency demands that as soon as the product is ready, it should be tested.

A quick head count spots almost fourty men in black armor standing in various places around the hangar, each of them bears a heavy assault rifle, any more details you cannot make out.

The Major appears stern but confident, he smiles a lot when he speaks.

"Commander," Sey muttered more to himself than to the trooper to his right and certainly not loud enough for the Major to hear. Having left his second in charge of Echo Company, Commander DeWitt had taken a shuttle to the Hammer of Barab not two hours ago. How quickly he had gone from commanding the Wrath's pet project to being treated like an ordinary trooper trapped on the wrong side of the spectator glass as if he were some zoo animal.

Sey DeWitt wasn't in need to prove his loyalty like some of these troopers seemed to be, sweat forming on their upper lips from pure angst, but despite the fact that he was proud to have signed up for Project Effigy, he too felt his heart beginning to race. It was no secret that Imperial experiments weren't met with high success rates and the researcher's methods were often in total violation of the ethics code that the old Republic had adhered to. The Empire didn't keep the same ethical standards, convinced that ethics had no place in furthering science.

Standing at attention in standard Imperial uniform, naturally sporting the markings of a commander, Sey kept his eyes fixed at the Bothan's annoying smile. Trying to deal with the growing tension in his stomach he began making up ways in which he could murder the Major while he'd still have that ugly grin on his bestial face.

Red flags had been flying in Gellart's head ever since he'd received that holomail that dictated he'd been chosen for one of the Empire's new military experiments, "Project EFFIGY". The accommodations aboard the luxury yacht were the stuff he could only dream of, but he made absolutely sure not to get used to such niceties. Creed's gut told him that the higher-ups were just pampering him before the testing, and nothing this good could ever last long. Now, standing in uniform surrounded by other Imperial soldiers in standard drill formation, he realized he'd been right — as usual. ⁝⁝ I hate it when I'm right. ⁝⁝

As the Bothan Major rambled on about why they were all gathered here today, someone a couple rows ahead and to his right muttered "Commander," eliciting an eyeroll from Gellart. ⁝⁝ Entitled brat. ⁝⁝ His internal mocking of the disgruntled officer vanished moments later as private picked up the tail-end of the Major's speech. ⁝⁝ What the frak? I got 'elected' for this super-painful experiment, and if I try to back out I'll get demoted?! No kessin' way! I always knew the Empire was a bag of pricks, but that's some real bantha-crap right there. ⁝⁝ Not that Gellart was afraid of death — he'd come to terms with that years ago — he was simply astounded once again by the Empire's methods.

A quick glance behind the Major revealed the outlines of several figures from the Imperial special forces, likely to keep anyone from escaping. In the center were several scientists and droids rushing frantically to complete their work. How reassuring. A bitter taste formed in Gellart's mouth when he spotted a lavish viewing booth filled with several robed and masked figures. ⁝⁝ Oh look, our Sith overlords have come to watch us suffer. Lovely. ⁝⁝

Kann stood there with his hands on his hips at the back of rows troopers shifting his weight from leg to leg. he wasn't really paying attention to the Bothan speech as he took in his surroundings spotting several guards in their black armour, it made him uneasy. Are they expecting trouble from them? or are they here to make sure no one escapes if something goes wrong he thought to himself as his eyes were drawn to the figures in the security booth looking down on them. what were they thinking, what were they expecting from them? are some of the questions that went through his head.

heard a mutter come from a man on the other side of a trooper next to him which distracted his thoughts as he turned his head to look at the muttering man. Commander DeWitt, leader of Echo company, a broken shell of man brainwashed and beaten into a mindless attack dog for the empire. kann pitied the man, no one should go through what he went through, to be twisted into something you're not, to be reprogrammed like a droid it wasn't natural.

As he looked at the commander he caught the eyes of the soldier next him rolling in response to the commander, he was youngish with rugged good looks and looked like in his mid-twenties, his response reminded of himself at the age. "Be careful who you roll your eye at, trooper, you never know when they might be looking at you." he whispers to the man leaning towards him with a slight tilt of his head "The names kann by the way," he whispers once again bring up his arm left arm for a handshake.

Alexander stood at ease with a face set in apathetic, borderline bored, mask among the row of other Imperial soldiers but on the inside he was anything but calm more like a ball of nerves and worry. And his worries were justified as he was about to take part in an experiment he had no idea what it was about or how dangerous it could be, not to mention it was an Imperial sanctioned one and green soldier had heard some horror stories about that. Now that Alex was thinking about it why had he even volunteered for it, oh yeah he would take anything that might potentially elevated his status even idiotic decision about unknown experiments.

Releasing an internal sigh, the young soldier let his eyes roam his surroundings, taking note of the armored guards stationed around the hanger he and the rest of volunteers were in. Wasn’t that a breath of confidence for his consciousness on the danger level of this experiment. In the meantime, he allowed the speech of the major to wash over his ears as he continued to scan the area. It seemed a few of the soldiers a row ahead of him were trying to abide their nerves by talking to each other but he was too far away to hear what it was about.

Probably about the luxury travel they had while getting here and Alex couldn’t take part in because he was on Coruscant already or about the observes of the project that were gathered, mostly Sith from what he was able to see, which wasn’t much. Alex almost let out a snort as his superior finished the speech because as far as he was aware there was not a rank lower than a private but thankfully he had been able to contain it after all he had to remain professional. Hopefully everything would work out in the end.

The Major sweeps his gaze once more over the gathered troopers before stepping out of the way of another officer. A female twi'lek with an absolutely ferocious look in her eyes takes in all those gathered. She rolls her jaw once, and the sound of servomotors can be heard over the deafening silence in the room. There is a ping on her comm and she raises it to her ear, nodding twice she utters an order and looks at the men and women gathered one last time.

"I am Major Tii La, you will address me as Ma'am or Sir, whatever gets you your jollies. Today we are going to be putting on a show for a rather captivated audience. I would have you know that the Supreme Commander is also watching, something that my companion may have forgotten to mention." She said, giving Major Mel'yat a sidelong grin. He gives her a sour look and stalks off to a mid-level observation platform.

"Enough with the introductions though. Form a line and make your way to the beds set out for you. Your assigned doctor will be putting you in safety restraints so you don't end up killing yourself. Go ahead and get yourself comfortable." She ordered, her tone far harsher than her Bothan counterpart.

The other troopers immediately begin to make a line, marching down and into the hangar bay proper. One at a time they greet the next doctor in line. Sitting down on the beds and receiving several intravenous drip inserts into their arms. Afterward, they are reclined and put into secure duraplast restraints. The flexible material is incredibly strong and anyone familiar with it knows that it is usually intended to secure creatures like wookies.

Your doctor is a pale-faced human in a long coat. His hands shake for a moment as he looks you over, obviously intimidated by a soldier so close to his person. Even so, he expertly inserts the drips into your arms and lays you down on your bed. He does not speak much.
Your doctor is a rather terse looking Chiss. The male looks you over almost with disappointment before sighing and nodding at the bed.

"Sit down and try not to whine about it." He starts, inserting the IV drip needles. He follows this by insisting that you recline and be strapped in.
Your doctor is a coy looking female umbaran. She wears goggles over her eyes and you can tell that there are some cybernetics in her arms and legs.

"Get comfy big guy, they warned you this'll hurt, right?" She said, inserting your drips and laying you down on the bed. She straps you in, the duraplast bands digging a bit into your arms.
Your doctor is a female human who spends much of the first moments of your meeting glaring at the back of Major Tii. She looks at you only long enough to insert the drips and demand that you lay down so you can be strapped into your bed. She seems to definitely be on edge.

It wasn't easy for Sey to keep his eyes fixed on the Twi'lek's ferocious eyes, for she also did justice to her species' reputation as being well-curved, and if they had been somewhere else he no doubt would've tried to pry his way through the somewhat harsh exterior attitude. Her announcing the presence of the Supreme Leader did him nothing, for he didn't even know who had taken to fill the enormous shoes of Warlord Szebat and truth be told he didn't really care. Only when the Wrath's protection fell away with the Cathar's violent death would Sey bother to learn the names of the upper echelons of Imperial Command. Nevertheless, Commander DeWitt marched his way into the hangar bay proper like a good trooper and arrived at his own shaky scientist shortly. "Stop shaking," the pale-faced human already annoyed him as he took off his shirt and sat down on the bed. Scars from the last days of the Republic were still clearly visible on his torso and the ruined skin from the months of torture that had followed would probably never heal, yet where it would've impressed soldiers it seemed to calm down the pale-faced human. Torture scars must be common among his test subjects.

Sey didn't struggle and with the drip administered to his arm he even helped the doctor to put the restraints around him before laying down and closing his eyes. Whatever was gonna happen, he was as ready as could be.

Alarm bells immediately sounded in Gellart's head and his heartrate rose dramatically when another trooper nearby started whispering to him. Creed didn't even try to understand what the guy was saying, he was going to get them both in big trouble. He even extended a hand for a shake! ⁝⁝ Is this guy off his rocker? We're in the middle of a damn ceremony being watched by all the top dogs of the Imperium and he seriously wants to shake hands? ⁝⁝ Gellart scowled in consternation, shaking his head very slightly and maintaining formation. He was not going to get in trouble. Good thing he didn't do anything too, because another Major showed up looking and sounding even more intimidating than the first one. To hear that even the Supreme Commander would be present was no real surprise to Gellart; this 'Project Effigy' seemed to be something the Empire had dumped a large sum of money into, and of course they would want to observe its results.

Gellart glowered at the Chiss scientist as he shedded the upper portion of his uniform. ⁝⁝ Shut your face, asshat. ⁝⁝ Lying down on the table, the Private was reminded once more why he initially decided in school to be a mechanic and and not a doctor: needles. Allowing the blue-skinned man to insert them and apply the restraints, Gellart glanced at his mechanical right arm, wondering if it would cause any sort of adverse effects. Now flat on the table, he took one last deep breath before the operation began, doing his best to ignore those in the observation decks above. ⁝⁝ This is going to suck. ⁝⁝

the trooper beside kann ignored his friendly advances but he was probably too scared to speak with everything going on but kann wasn't one to be afraid of being shouted at, he was quite used to it but for all that shouting he knows his worth and so do they. it's the troopers loss, he could've made a friend or ally. The major grabbed his attention, she certainly had a presence about her with that ferociousness in her eyes, kann had that look in his eyes once many many years ago but that is a story for another time. ah, there it is kann thought to himself as woman announce that the newly appointed Supreme Commander would be watching, an opportunity to impress.

kann smile at the umbaran as he sits down and takes off the top half of his uniform to reveal his scars that coat his chest and arms "well thank you and I'm no stranger to pain as you can see" he says as she inserts the drips into his arms tense his muscles a little as they enter "I usually don't let people restrain me but for a beautiful creature such as yourself I'll allow it" he flirted as she put the duraplast restraints around his limbs. they were little tight but there was no going back. he closed his eyes and began to breathe deeply to prepare himself for what was coming.
