Question about militaries...

This may seem EXTREMELY dumb, but seeing as I'm not very knowledgeable in this timeline, I have a question:

Does the Republic maintain a military despite its Grand Army being disbanded, or have they just shut it all down? It's probably the former, I just want to be sure.

I think planets have their own independent defence forces like a national guard + coast guard. But that is just my guess.

The kingdoms of onderon and serono all so have militaries and individual planets military would depend on culture and economy. I don't see Lothar fielding a large army
