Hunting.

It was as old as the human species, something that they had done for millennia, first for survival, then for sport, and now for business. Gallanto bore this in mind as his SoroSuub Luxury 3000 Yacht touched down on the planet of Eriadu. Retrofitted with five retracting blaster turrets and a similar ion turret, the ship was his pride and joy - fast, luxurious, and his home.

Regardless, he was not here to relish in his own possessions, and the harsh and unforgiving planet of Eriadu would serve as a reminder of this. Renowned for breeding harsh locals, Eriadu had been home to the powerful 'Tarkin Dynasty', frontiermen and adventurers like Gallanto, and people whom he greatly respected.

Getting out of his chair as the vessel finished it's landing cycle, the Hunter smiled to himself as he considered one day retiring to Eriadu, it seemed to suit his personality, and his needs, this distant world. Picking up his hunting rifle and attaching his holster containing his two trusty DL-44 Heavy Blasters, he stopped by the exit ramp.

His target today was a droid, suspected by his client to be of unique design. It was this uniqueness that made it so valuable, and for that reason he had chosen to pursue it. A droid however required a different style of attack, and so he attacked his usual wrist mounted flamer, which rested stop gauntlets concealing punch activated blades (to pair up with boot concealed knives) before adding a bandolier of Ion grenades to his usual one of thermal detonators.

His armaments arranged, he put on his wide brimmed hat, and activated the HUD in his goggle and rebreather mask, scanning the area for the Droid. He knew it has been here, or at least that it what his intel had said - but as to whether or not his scanners would pick it up - he couldn't be sure.

Stepping off the ramp, which closed behind him, he readied his rifle.

OOC: Death enabled. Etc.

Ascendant had never been one for running away, but this time he was trying to stay under the radar to protect Isaac. His escort freighter was in another star system by now… hopefully, and he had taken a shuttle in place of it. The droid could have taken on the person hunting him, the person he had detected tracking him however many parsecs back, at least, he could have taken on his ship had his own not been damaged by an encounter with a stray Hutt cartel frigate.

The droid would have frowned, had he been capable of doing so, but right now he was just crouching close to the ground. He knew that once he moved that his armor, which had a paint layer that blended somewhat to the thermal environment it was surrounded him, would light up on whatever sensor was being used to target him. He would appear barely visible in the Cartel member’s HUD, while his own visor easily picked up the human through multiple levels of magnification, allowing him to take in every movement and analyze his target.

He was about 500 meters away, a perfect distance to use his Shoki[/url, but he wasn’t sure whether or not powering up the weapon would alert his opponent to his presence. He hadn’t been hunted like this before, nor had he needed to stay stealthy so that he could remain elusive, and strike when the time was needed.

Had he already been detected? Did he have the advantage? Would he become the hunter, with the advantage of knowing where his opponent was in the m

”His weapons… they aren’t clear. Kriff; I don’t have enough information to engage. However, I should anyways. Firing first is always an advantage.”

Ascendant didn’t have any eyes, so his HUD simply connected to the weapon as he aimed it, yet he didn’t fire it yet. The powering up process took a few seconds, and he let his HUD form the aiming reticule, and mark the various things his opponent had. He supposed that the grenade-shaped objects his opponent had would be explosive, so that’s the thing he fired at first. Everyone loved their explosives, and maybe, just maybe, the man didn’t know he was hunting a droid.

Ascendant was crouching on the ground, steadying the rifle with both of his arms, his servos focused on accuracy more than ever. The pulsing sound of three bursts of the particle beam blasting echoed throughout the area, and Ascendant didn’t wait to see if his opponent would blow up, so, he prepared the grenade launcher on his rifle. B-Type grenades
were essentially anti-organic grenades, and they were something that he preferred over just about everything else due to the fact that they were, well, they were cool. Sure, he could use ion grenades temporarily, but organics were so much more common in Ascendant’s job, and the grenade launcher, with its range of around 200 meters, could probably hold off any approach.

Still, he readied his weapon for firing once more, hoping that he wouldn’t have to resort to CQC. He didn’t like close quarters combat; it was always such a pain. His arms were fast, but the rest of him wasn’t as fast as he wanted to be, and his reflexes were average. If this organic had any sort of enhancements it would be a possibility that he would be capable of outpacing Ascendant.

Taking cover as the beam shots fired past him, striking a barrel behind which he sheltered, Gallanto cursed. He couldn't see his assailant. Need better scanners, he thought to himself as a large explosion, presumably from a grenade launcher, destroyed his cover. How many of them are there? he cursed, I wasn't expecting this much fire-power from one droid! he though, as he scurried to shelter by his vessel. As he lowered the boarding ramp, to serve as a makeshift shelter for him, the Hunter found a smile creeping to his lips.

''Looks like I found my better scanner.'' he said under his breath as he scrabbled up the boarding ramp and into his vessel, power the shields remotely as he did so, before snapping the ramp shut behind him as he walked up it. It did not take long for him to get inside properly, the SoroSuub Personal Luxury Yacht 3000 opening up before him as he walked across the top of two decks - this one the observation lounge and bar. Holoing ahead to his pilot droid, the man watched as the emergency shutters sealed over the doors, and the Ion Engines fired up.

His own vessel had been adapted - naturally - to be faster and better armed that its basic model, much like a certain model owned by a 'Lando Calrissian' in ages past. It was these modifications that Gallanto was hoping to put to use today, as he finally settled into his piloting chair, activating the scanners as he took over, spinning the front nose of the vessel around as the turrets slid out of their retractable ports. The advanced scanners made short work of detecting the droid, and Gallanto increased the vessels altitude so as to maintain a certain advantage.

Instructing his droid to remain at a constant level, he slaved the controls of the five laser turrets to his wrist mounted datapad - the Ion Canon out of commission due to a recent collision with an asteroid - and returned to the ramp. Lowering it, he raised his sniper rifle, the scanners of the vessel broadcasting through to his HUD, and thus allowing him to see the Droid. With two of the blaster cannons mounted on the underside of the vessel, underneath the cockpit, and two mounted on the engine struts on swivel turrets, only two turrets where available - one on the underside of the vessel, and on on the starboard engine.

Firing the rifle at the Droid, aiming for its torso, Gallanto looses two shots, before sheltering behind the doorway, instructing the two turrets facing the droid to open fire, their quad mounted barrels firing quickly toward the juggernaut of a machine.

Edit - changing 'if' to 'off'.
Edit - changing to continue the fight.

”Oh, kriff.” Ascendant watched with a frown as his target’s ship rose up. He knew that running at the moment was all but useless, and that he should have drawn his target out further. Perhaps he should survive elsewhere, and that’s when he sent his artificial intelligence out to his ship so that his body could be rebuilt at a later point in time, even if it would take quite a while. The body, now being bombarded by ion cannons, would see its internals fried, all major systems cease operations, and its weaponry be made useless.

It would seem clear now that his opponent had won; however, Ascendant would make a return one day, and lay siege to the man’s ship by completely decimating in one-on-one combat.

”Maybe I should go at him with everything I’ve got, instead of being so worried. Now it’ll take quite a while to build a suitable body, and I’ll be stuck with basics. This is highly unfortunate, it seems, but at least Isaac is still alive, and I have my ship.” His ship hovered through hyperspace, and was now several systems away from Eriadu.
