Refel sat on a stone bench in the courtyard practicing the Force by lifting small stones about five inches above the ground before dropping them. Today he was going to begin training as a Jedi knight, his thoughts returned to the rocks and he waited for his master.

Cade walked into the courtyard, feeling his path through the Force. The boy he was looking for stood out to him in the Force, he felt him as though he had been marked. Cade walked over and sat on the bench next to him.

"Good morning, young one. I am Cade Varr, your new master. First things first, I would like you to tell me about yourself."

Refel looked up at the man who was to be his master," I am Refel Ezer I was once prince of the Mykes on my home planet but then a Jedi found me and took me here to become one. My mother and father are very proud of me and want me to become a Jedi, but they haven't forgotten their old dream of me being a politician. I hope to become a Jedi consular so that I can reach both expectations set for me. I have been following the Senate closely all my life and sincerly wish to be a part of it even now." Refel looked his master over trying to read his reaction.

"The Jedi are not politicians," said Cade, "and I don't think the senate would approve of a Jedi senator. There is a choice, a Jedi can advise the Senators or the Chancellor, and that may be your path, but we have no place in the Senate. And that choice was made the day you became part of this order. A Jedi Consular is a master of the Force, one who studies that first and combat second. However such roles are rarely claimed or handed out by the Jedi. It is hard to catagorise what you study. But would you be interested in becoming an advisor to the Senate, or perhaps even part of the Jedi representative council in the Chancellor's office? Such positions are reserved for Councillors and powerful masters, and if it is a path you wish to follow you must know now it is not an easy one."

Refel chewed over what he had just heard he hadn't paid attention to the Jedi just the Senate but there were still options and even if they were difficult he figured he could handle it,"I understand master and I think, no I know, I can do whatever neccesary."

He was confident, sure. But confidence and ability were two completely different things. As was understanding principles and rules.

"So what do you think is the role of a Jedi Knight?"

Refel stood from the bench to address his master propperly,"It is the duty of a Jedi knight to protect the people who cannot protect themselves."

Cade was unimpressed. He wanted more depth, and something a little more personal too.

"And what is the role of a Jedi Knight, to you?"

"We as jedi must make sure that none fall to darkness that no lives are wasted that those in power do not abuse it and that even those we may consider enemies are still people and should only be killed by neccesity not by hate. As Jedi we must mantain the balance of power and destruction." Refel finished and looked for approval in his master's face.

Cade thought he was grasping it a little, but not as much as he would have hoped. His face remained expressionless as he spoke again, "What do you know of the eight tenets?"

"The Jedi are defenders of the galaxy and they promote peace which id=s why we follow the Galactic Republic so as not to cause chaos. The tenets say emotion cannot be ignored but they should not be acted upon blindly. A jedi should protect the weak without taking unnecesart life especially for personal reasons.Jedi are not obediant dogs following the Grand master without thinking we should think for ourselves again not cause chaos. Some Jedi like myself have much material wealth on our homeworlds. but we must let it go for the good of the Order. A jedi should always consider the Force in their actions as well as the past." Refel had studied the tenets closely and thought he knew them well.

"That is a fair summary," he said, "but now tell me what you know of the Jedi code, and what it means."

OOC:Thanks for the code

IC:"Emotion, yet peace, that means we must have emotions for we cannot control them but we must also have peace. Ignorance, yet knowledge, one must be wise but also iggnorrant allowing them to learn new things.Passion, yet serenity means you may have passion but you must control it not allow it to control you.Chaos, yet harmony, everything is inhertintly chaotic but to reach that basic level of chaos is harmony. Death, yet the Force the final line means while death is there it is essentially the Force just like life." Refel finished he had yet to impress his master maybe now he would be impressed.

If Cade's face had not been bathed in shadow, then his new apprentice would have seen him raise an eyebrow. "Hmmm...that's and interesting interpretation of the code. And of course it is our interpretations from our own points of view that makes us the people we are. Tell me, what what is the Force, in your eyes?"

"The Force is a tool and a friend and a teacher all at once, and those like the Jedi are gifted to be able to know it closely. It guides many and helps others accomplish tasks and it is always there no matter where you are the Force binds all living things and so is always with you." Refel finished and momentarily pondered over the interested feeling his master had given to his last answer.

"Indeed, it is those things, but at the same time, so much more. It is different to everyone who feels it, and now I will show you a technique. Sit and meditate, and center yourself. Picture yourself in familiar surroundings, where you are happy and safe."

Cade swung his legs onto the bench and motioned for his padawan to sit cross legged like him.

Refel copied his master's movements closing his eyes and reaching for a tranquil place within himself. In his minds eye he was now in his room back home with his gaurds outside his door and he himself sitting on his bed reading from a Databook.

"Now," said Cade, "sit in that calmness and open yourself to the Force. Look around through the Force, and feel what it is like to truly see."

Refel's vision slowly faded away to a silent black screen. He opened himself up allowing the Force to channel through himand his mind was flooded with images and feelings life, animals, plants, Jedi, other beings from other planets they rushed through him but it did not scare or hurt him but rather made him feel stronger and more exhilerated. It was a high level of pure joy, frustration, and all other emotions but he could feel it slipping away and he had to open his eyes to see the real world although he still felt enthralled in the left over energy. He looked over to see what his master was doing.
