Force Nexus or Force Vergences are locations in the galaxy where the Force, or any particular aspect of the Force, are unusually strong. Such places usually are formed after certain events, like the death of dark Jedi on Dagobah, or gradually over a long period of time. In these places, the Force is greatly enhanced, especially with those who share an alignment with the alignment of the Nexus.
Recently, a way to create a temporary Force Nexus was discovered accidentally, as well as how to infuse the Force into an object within the Nexus. Jedi Padawan Alhazred was attempting to find a relation between the placements of celestial objects and the Force itself by utilizing a holocron, several jedi Kyber crystals, and the participation of other Jedi. During the experiment, Alhazred accidentally created a small but powerful and unstable Force Nexus in space near the Kashyyyk System. While the experiment did also draw the attention and ire of a nearby starweird, resulting in the spaceship, the holocron, and the kyber crystals getting destroyed as well as the starweird, the Jedi took interest in Alhazred's results.
Further testing by the Jedi resulted in finding a basic idea on how to recreate the experiment's results. Another test occurred, this time by more qualified Jedi, who indeed confirmed the results. It was possible to create a temporary Force Nexus. Alhazred, who had promised the Givin government his results in exchange for the use of the ship that he blew up, turned over his research, who in turn published it to the wider galaxy, making it accessible to everyone.
Requirements: Creating a Force Nexus requires 3 things.
1: Force aligned objects: While Alhazred used Kyber crystals, other objects would work: artifacts would be the most reliable, though strong force users would also work as a substitute. The only requirement of these objects is they are aligned with the Force the same way you want the Nexus to be aligned. At minimum 3 objects are required.
2. Celestial Events: Alhazred's research did seem to prove a possible correlation between celestial objects and the Force. However, the connection is still poorly understood and seem to reflect more on the users than anything. Celestial events that are important to the users work the best, usually being a solstice, a solar or lunar eclipse, or a planetary alignment of a solar system
When creating a nexus, one of the objects in the celestial event or the focal point needs to be at a place that is already aligned with the Force. For a Light-Sided Nexus, planets with a great deal of life tend to work, such as Dagobah, Coruscant, as well as Kashyyyk as Alhazred discovered in his experiment. For a Dark Sided Nexus, places like Koriiban, Byss, and even Dathomir would work.
3. A Focal point: the center of the Force Nexus usually has an object or a being at it. For Alhazred, it was a holocron borrowed from the Jedi, but any object will work. See effects
Effects:
When the Force Nexus is created, a sphere of energy aligned with the Light or the Dark side of the Force (Depending on the objects used) is created. Radius of the Nexus is equal to the number of objects used times 10 meters. In this field, all Force abilities are greatly enhanced beyond their normal capabilities, and Force users find their powers much easier to call upon. Those of the opposing alignment tend to feel sickened and weakened, with even lower level Force users becoming incapacitated over short periods of time. Furthermore, users in the nexus can have Force Visions and powerful hallucinations.
The Nexus tend to last between 5 and 10 minutes, though certain celestial events can make the duration go up to 30 minutes. When the Nexus ends, it usually is abruptly, with a Force Blast in every direction from the Focal point all the way out to where the Nexus ended. At the end, the object or being at the focal point is infused with the Force, creating a new artifact. This artifact still must follow the rules and be approved, though Wookiepedia has some good ideas with Force Talismans.
If a being or beings are at the center of the Focal point, they find that the Nexus infused with them for a short time. All the effects from the Nexus carry on just with them, including enhancing their abilities, experiencing visions, causing weakness in oppossing aligned force users nearby. This effect only lasts about an hour. And the end of this hour, the Force user is incompacitated.
While timing the ritual to be used in tactical combat by giving someone a power boost would be next to impossible, this could be used for certain ceremonies like an official Sith Duel, a Jedi Knighting ceremony, or as the basis for an event thread.
Intent — To create a ritual that both incorporates celestial events, giving it a more magical kind of feel, allows Jedi and Sith to have a method of creating new artifacts, as well as to open new story opportunities with this power.
