I don't know how many weddings there have been, but I'm pretty sure none of them haven't had a death. If they haven't, they're void in the eyes of God.

I have to emphasize this. I made my point about "characters die blah blah" in the Personal Notifications thread where Erik said he was leaving, but in this particular instance what Nevermore said is actually the most important point -- and it's one that was discussed a few months ago on the site in some thread that I can't remember as well.

When you go into a thread and purposely start killing shit, do not bitch and complain if it does not work out the way you intended it. Yes, that's coming across strong, but to walk into a thread and decide to kill people and then turn around and whine when you get killed is so ridiculously immature.

It's the same thing with a battle. You go into a battle in the war knowing that you might not come out the other side, but knowing that still allows the battle to be fun. But to go into a thread and just start killing people as if everyone's just going to roll over and die for you is an insane assumption. There are no guarantees. If you fight, you might die.

And as Horizon said:

That's 100% correct. Fights are great, but not every thread should be a fight! If you go into an open thread that wasn't set up to be a fight, respect that. Horizon is right in saying that people don't make a lot of open threads or join them because they're afraid that something like what happened in this thread is going to happen. If it happens naturally then that's great. If you force a fight into a thread for no other reason than just to have a fight, what you're doing is derailing the thread.

You may have wanted to tell the story of your character, Erik, but everyone else in this thread wanted to do that with their character's too in a relaxed club setting. They wanted to share their character's stories and experiences with other people rather than just killing them outright.

We as a site need to get out of this mindset that we have to kill people and blow shit up in order to be unpredictable in an open, free form role-play. Needless and mindless violence in open threads only serves to HARM the unpredictability and open atmosphere, not help it, because people will turn away from those if they just think their character is going to die because someone decided to shoot them for no reason. It leads to more, not less, threads marked as Ask, Invite, or Closed.

Yes I know, everyone wants to be the super badass center of attention in a thread, but if you want to do that then make your own open thread for it. Don't go into someone else's open thread and start shooting people just for the sake of looking like a badass, because that's exactly the impression I've gotten from what happened in this thread.

Well.... If I happened to marry another player onsite, I'll makedamn sure it's done OFFSCREEN, as to avoid tragedy. Unless you kill the priest! That'd be cool!

I was sure that the whole trying to rescue her was just your own way of..

Maybe not.

Wait wha-wha-what?!? lmfao. :CGape I joined the rp, and her and I were talking about it via profile pages they'd probably end up meeting in a barfight, end up trying to kill each other, but somewhere down the road become friends, it would just take a long time together. The irony is, it's heading down that pathway so far. YOU guys are legit trying to either sleep with her (which I referenced in the rp) OR (people like you) trying to get her for a job. The sociopath you killed wanted to kill her it seems, so I'm probably the only one trying to do a moral thing for my character and see someone whose in trouble, find out it's probably a bad idea to save her ungrateful butt, but do so anyways because I'm a Jedi-in-training and the whole helping others bit

I dunno, Thair's flirting is kinda hilarious...and Brayden treated Brooke equally...

So Taore's really the only one on the bad list. :D

Well a person can only base upon observation. It's like Obi-Wan says "Many of the truths we believe tend to be from our own point of view."

Can an admin please close the Rodians Will be Rodians thread in the Bars/Casinos rp section? Because Brooke and I wrapped it up, and my final post has an - End bit at it, meaning the rp is over. Can someone close it up please?

We don't generally lock finished RP threads. Feel free to write "The End" or something in a post at the end. After that point, you don't have to reply to it anymore, even if someone else chooses to post in it.
