Rogue Shield

To the bearer of this letter,

You’ve received this letter as an invitation to a special Armed Intervention Team that has been assembled to combat the growing tides of war and chaos running rampant through this galaxy.

This team has a single goal: Put a swift stop to war through the use of armed interventions in conflicts across the galaxy. I know the thought of attempting to stop war through the use of violence seems asinine, but all other methods of bringing about an end to war have been futile. At best, a persistent campaign of strategic interventions will cripple the galaxy’s willingness to fight and will force conflicting forces to the negotiating table. At worst, our interference will unite the nations of the galaxy against us under a common banner. Not exactly an idea position for us to be in, but it’s preferable to watching the galaxy continue to tear itself apart.

The Team has everything it needs to begin launching interventions. Everything save for one critical component: Manpower. That is why we need you; you have talents we need. Engineers, pilots, doctors, soldiers; we need all of them if our team is to ever accomplish our goal. Please, if you have any interest in helping us fight for peace, contact us using the information provided and we’ll send you co-ordinates for a meeting point right away.

The future of this Galaxy lays in your hands. The only question is: Will you fight for a future without war, or will you stand by and let us slip into oblivion?

-=-=-=-=-Faction Information Sheet-=-=-=-=-

Command Structure
Due to the small size of the team, the formal command structure is very limited. The only real ranks are those of ‘Team Leader’ and ‘Teammate’.

The Team Leader is the commanding officer of the Rogue Shield team and performs most of the command tasks of the Team. The Team Leader’s primary goal, aside from making sure that the Team does not stray from their ultimate goal, is ensuring the safety and combat effectiveness of Rogue Shield.

The Teammates are the backbone of the group. They have a variety of different jobs, from performing as a Medic to a Exoskeleton Pilot. As there is no individual ranks for Teammates, they have little choice but to cooperate; if they don’t, they can’t exactly order one another around.

Tactics and Goals

Rogue Shield’s ultimate goal is the eradication of war and the establishment of peace utilizing a hit-and-run tactic known as an ‘Intervention.’ The Intervention is a high-speed raid on a conflict area with the goal of disrupting enemy logistics and personnel, thus crippling their ability to continue fighting. To prevent battles from turning into one-sided slaughters, both sides are attacked with equal ferocity until both are damaged to the point that they are incapable of continuing to fight.

Out of necessity, the team’s members must withdraw from the combat area immediately after the raid ends. Rogue Shield simply isn’t strong enough to wage conventional warfare, and any loss of manpower would be devastating to the group‘s effectiveness.

Equipment Overview

Rogue Shield has a strong focus on Combat Exoskeletons, known as ‘Mechs’ to the Team. Relatively small and compact machines, individual Mechs stand between 2.5 and 4 meters tall depending upon model, and are humanoid in overall appearance. There are three primary classes of Mech: Light, Medium, and Heavy. Each class is utilized for a different style of combat, but all three participate in Intervention operations to provide balanced attack power.

Generally, a Mech’s pilot customizes his or her Exoskeleton to fit their preferences. Granting a Mech a name isn’t uncommon, and due to their humanoid nature, it isn’t difficult to customize their combat load.

As for armor, the Mechs are fairly well defended; however, they are not invulnerable. Only the Heavy Mech can withstand intense volleys of blaster and rifle fire; both the Light and Medium Mechs must seek cover or evade the incoming rounds. For additional protection, it is not unusual for the Mechs to be equipped with forearm-mounted ballistic shields, sacrificing the ability to use two-handed weapons for a tremendous boost to their defensive abilities.

In terms of weaponry, Rogue Shield uses a mix of ballistic weapons, energy weapons, and blades. The actual use of weapons depends upon the specific requirements of a mission and the user’s preference; there is no ‘standard’ weapons loadout for the team, though most weapons are provided from the team‘s armory.

Base of Operations, Manpower, and Funding

Rogue Shield has no traditional base of operations. Instead, they operate off of a heavily armed corvette, the Amber Sky. Combining a mix of efficient armor, accurate weaponry, and lightning-fast engines, the Amber Sky is able to quickly insert Rogue Shield into conflict zones and extract them just as quickly while providing pinpoint covering fire.

Her best defense is not her armor or weaponry, but rather, her speed and stealth: Dark gray paint makes visual identification difficult, smoke dispensers can block visual and thermal sensors, and an advanced ECM suite aids in reducing the accuracy of enemy attacks: a very good thing, considering that the Amber Sky is little more than an oversized dropship and would likely fare poorly in a heated contest with another capital ship.

In terms of Manpower, Rogue Shield has barely enough crew to man the Amber Sky, placing their manpower at less than fifty individuals.

As for funding, the group relies entirely on taking what they need from their enemies and the black market. While this eliminates any sort of paper trail that could be used to track them, it ensures that the team is usually stuck in a ‘hand-to-mouth’ state of existence and rarely, if ever, has more than a month‘s worth of supplies and munitions.

The Rules
The Rules of Rogue Shield are simple and easy to follow.
1: Never betray the Team.
2: Never leave a comrade behind.
3: Never harm the innocent.
4: Never cause unnecessary harm.

Joining Rogue Shield

Joining the team is an easy process. Simply post the name of your character and a link to your character's profile. If you want to, give your character's reason for joining Rogue Shield and his or her desired job within the team. However, all you need is the name and the link.

[A Member Roster and Equipment List is coming soon.

Missions

Desert Fox
We have learned that rogue elements of the former Phoenix Corporation have been actively selling arms and armaments to an unusually non-xenophobic tribe of Sand People on Tatooine. While the armaments are basic, they are encouraging the tribe to strike out against tribal enemies and launch raids on isolated farms. You are to take a team to Tatooine, to the flats 30 kilometers north of Anchorage. It is here that the tribe is currently residing.

Upon arrival, you have one goal: Launch a full-scale assault against the Tribe and eradicate all opposition. Take great care to ensure the complete destruction of all munitions dumps you find. Once that is complete, search the area for the arms dealers transport; we have reason to believe it is still planetside. If it is located, capture it if possible and bring it back to us. We could use the supplies.

Broken Wings
In the mountains of Corellia, a CorSec Patrol Ship -roughly the size of a small dropship- has been lost. While we would not usually concern ourselves with rescue operations, there is a chance that the ship was brought down by a group of anarchists. Head to Corellia and search the valleys and mountains at the Ship's last known location. If survivors are found, secure the area and defend them until one of our medical dropships can safely extract them.

Once the survivors are extracted -or in the event that no survivors are found- you are to track down the terrorists responsible and wipe them completely out. Peace will be impossible to achieve while their kind are allowed to go free, so show no mercy.

Ongoing Missions
Ongoing Missions are kind of like bounties. So long as you are a member of the team, you are always participating in one of these missions, so keep your eyes peeled; you never know when a chance to accomplish one of them may stumble into your path.

Knife in the Dark
All Rogue Shield operatives are ordered to keep their eyes out for members of terrorist or anti-peace organizations. These people directly interfere with our long-term goals, and must be captured or eliminated. Therefore, anyone who can be catergorized as a terrorist is to be dealt with swiftly and quietly, and either captured or outright killed. If captured, they are to be brought directly to a safe location and the Team Leader contact, so that appropriate action may be taken.

Also note that any information on terrorist factions, military movement, and arms shipments are vitally important; if you learn a bit of information that could be useful, don't hesitate: Report it!

Guardian Angels
Just as we are to be the tip of the spear in the fight for peace, so too are we to be the shield in the defense of life. When you see someone about to lose their life by no fault of their own -such as hostages taken by a madman or a passerby being mugged at gunpoint-, take action!

Faction now has three people, and will become active ASAP. If anyone else is interested, don't hesitate to join! Remember, Rogue Shield's membership is... More like a club, really. Just because you're with the team doesn't mean you can't go somewhere else to make a living.

While I don't think I posted it in the information, Rogue Shield likes its guys to operate in teams of at least three to five. If you can't get enough PC's in to have a team that big, feel free to take along some NPC's to fill up your team.

Oh, yeah, and missions here work the same as anywhere else, so make sure to find someone to play the NPC baddies.
