I dug up my old rp site and found their rules and guidelines, before I rped i was wondering if this was the correct way to rp or not.
ACTIONS
All of your actions go into **
Example: *Walks into the room and sits down*

THOUGHTS
All of your thoughts go into ::::
Example: ::I think that his shirt is pretty::
Please note that you can not rp someone elses thoughts, meaning you can't know what a person is thinking while roleplaying.

Out Of Characters
All of your OOC or Out Of Character thoughts go into ()
Example: (My friend's and I are going to the mall later)

Please Note

That when you use ** or :::: You do not have to use seperate ** for each actions that you do.

Example of what NOT to do: *Walks into the room* *Looks over at a boy in the room* Hi nice to meet you. *Shakes his hand*

Example of what to do: *Walks into the room and looks over at a boy that is in the room* Hi nice to meet you. *Shakes his hand*

Example of what NOT to do: :: Wow I wish I had an icecream:: ::I wonder where the icecream machine is:: *Looks around for it* *spots it* ::Yaaay I found it!::

Example of what to do: ::Wow I wish I had an icecream. I wonder where the machine is:: *Looks around for it and spots it* ::Yaaay I found it::

IMPORTANT!!!
If you learn one lesson from this how to RP guide make sure that it is this next lesson.

In RP you do not always know what has happened. You can only know when things happen if
1. You are in the room when it happens
or
2. If someone that was in the room when it happens has told you.

What do I mean by this?
You can not read up on what other people are doing and know what has happened between them. You HAVE to be in the room to know what happened.

How do you know if you are in the room??
1. If you walk into the room or are in the room.
2. If you are part of the plot.

How do you know if you're not??
1. If you are only posting OOC in a room. You are not in there. (Also take note not to respond to people talking in OOC while you RP. )
2. If you are reading the post of other people from earlier that day or even while it is happening and are not in the room even though you have read it you're character can not know it until you RP and someone tells you.

NOTE
It is NOT advisable to walk into a room while someone is in the middle of a plot JUST so that you can say that you know what happened. Plots are in place for a reason. More often than not, it will annoy all who are involved and just result in your posts being deleted. If you want to take part...contact the other Wizard before hand...or even try coming up with your own.

Example Post:

1st post: (OOC: I just got home from the mall)
As of this point you are not in the room yet, because you have only talked in OOC:.

2nd post: *Walks up and sits down*
Now you are in the room and can RP.

3rd post: *Decides to go over to the group* Hey guys! How is everyone? (Yeah I had fun.)
You can RP and talk in OCC in the same post. Just make sure to use (OOC: ) when you talk in OOC or else things can get confusing.

That would be what we call "light" rping. We're more a "Heavy" RP website where people make posts as though they were writing a book. For instance...

It was a long day, the moon had just risen above the clouds when Judas saw the Vicar exit. One of the Knights standing next to him stood mouth agape when Judas knocked him in the back of the head and said "Keep a respectable look about you."

OOC: Out of character posts are then added as such, but if it can be avoided we don't use them all that much.

I prefer light RPing, but it is better if all the people in it are on and replying quickly. Like for MSN RPs it is better, but on a board where a good thread takes a while to RP, Longer is better.

The best way to find how we RP here is to read the role-playing threads of other members of the site. Everyone here RPs basically the same way, so the only variation in threads will be the difference in quality between members, particularly new role-players and those who have role-played longer.
