I couldn't help but notice people discussing Obama and Romney, which I understand are the poll options but people throw third party candidates aside. I was just curious if anyone agreed with, or supports Ron Paul or Gary Johnson. There are quite a bit of people on my college campus that support either or.

Ron Paul isn't a third party candidate. He's not running. He's also cuckoo for cocoa puffs.

As for Gary Johnson, or Jill Stein for that matter, the campaign financing system we currently have renders them effectively irrelevant. At this point, a vote for Johnson is a vote for President Obama; Obama's numbers go down 1 point when Johnson is included in polls, but Romney's numbers go down by 3.

What's funny is that to believe that website you have to believe that the FOX News poll is being purposefully skewed in favor of the President.

I generally hate neologisms, but truthiness has never felt more true-to-life.

Polls are important and matter for the candidates to gauge what voters are thinking and whether their strategy is working. A typical campaign, which thus far the Romney campaign is not, adapts to the polls. They don’t need to change their positions, but they should use it to change their strategy. In the case of Mitt Romney, his strategy clearly isn’t working. He should be listening to the polls, not resisting them.
