Spiritual, observant and curious are three most obvious characteristics of Saana. She carries with her the spiritual beliefs of her people, no matter how far she gets from there. As someone who loves to learn, she is often content to observe, taking in details. Her curiousity motivates her further to seek out new things to learn and discover, even if they are about herself. Like many of her people, she prefers companionship with others, to be a part of a group, over being alone and isolated. Though a capable fighter, she prefers non-violent solutions to problems and will actively seek them out. She helps others where she can and shares what she learns with others.
BIOGRAPHY:
In one of manysmall clans that made their homes in the forested valleys across Shili, Saana was born 22 years ago. Her mother, Akaassa, practiced the art of healing in their community. Her father, Tukreesh, hunted when he was around and when he was not around he was reportedly in the large city where the spaceport could be found. Saana also has a sister who is only three years older than her. The first handful of years of her life were normal by any comparison, being brought up into her people's culture and beliefs.
Saana was a child full of curiousity. Not only did she show interest in the healing practices of her mother, but other things as well such as music, hunting, the stars and anything else she could absorb. As she grew, this thirst for knowledge, to learn, never subsided. Just after the turn of her seventh year, Saana's father left their community for the last time and she still has not seen him to this day, nor does she expect to. It was only a small turning point for her, however, as it only made her wonder what was out there that would make her father choose it over his family.
As Saana became older, she became more restless. She had great respect for her mother, her sister and the rest of her clan and a great love for them all, but something was not complete. She could not call it an emptiness, as an empty feeling does not call to you. It was closer to an incompleteness that she felt. This distraction became a growing point of annoyance, particularly for her mother, while her sister just thought her to be free spirited. Just before the turn of her 20th year, and after she felt she had mastered speaking basic well enough, she made the decision to leave. It had not been an easy one for her to make; it was one that she wrestled with internally for months. But there was more for her to learn about the galaxy as a whole, and about herself, than wht she could find on Shili. Saana left with the promise that she would return once she had learned everything she needed to learn so that she could share those experiences.
Using the skills she had learned from her mother, Saana bartered her way onto freighter crews to get from planet to planet and make a few credits on the side when she could. She knew and understood that there was a measure of danger in the galaxy that could only be found out there, but just how dangerous and risky it could be out there was a lesson she learned the hard way. This was the case when she joined the crew of the 'Midnight Cry', a cargo freighter. What she had not known about the would be cargo was that it was a shipment of slaves. This fact, and how she saw them treated, disgusted her on more than one level. She did nothing, though, not until the freighter landed as there was no other way. When she was left alone with one other crew member to keep watch on the imprisoned people while the captian and others went to deal with other things that she did not want to know about, she had made her move. Saana had incompacitated the other crew member and freed the handful of slaves. Afterwards, she had fled herself. This event caused her to be far more cautious about the ships she chose to board and the places she travelled.
It was two years after leaving her home on a fateful day that she met Kai Sara, Jedi Master, on the planet of Tatooine. Being pursued by old enemies, the young Jedi Master intervened on her behalf. It was once the slaver thugs were incompacitated that Kai Sara revealed to Saana the nature of her Force sensitivity and asked her to return with him to the Jedi.
