Rayz stumbled to his feet, walked to the bar, and again paid the Ithorian including a significant tip. He then walked back to the table, and again offered his hand to Mau.

"My apartment is not far from here, and you are most welcome to join me."

The walk would take a little longer than usual in their present condition, but even at that, it was but a 15 minute walk...

Mau grudgingly acceted his hand, pulling herself to her feet- and almost falling over. She steadied herself, using him to lean on.

"Good. I hope 'not far' is really not far."

Rayz again chuckled at her response, and he then led the way out of the cantina, steadying Mau as they walked. Although he was barely able to walk himself, he still felt that Mau could use all the help that he could offer.

They strode through the slums of lower Couriscant, finally arriving at a large complex of run-down, inexpensive apartments. He entered his access card into one of the door slots, and the door slid open. Rayz then stood aside, and allowed Mau to enter.

"It's not much, but it provides a comfortable place to sleep when I'm in the area..." Rayz stated.

He looked around and thought that perhaps he could have cleaned up a little more the last time he was there...

"It's perfect." Mau sighed greatfully. She would have been happy with anything at this point.

"Just show me were I can collapse and I'll trouble you no more."

"You're really no trouble at all," Rayz said with a warm smile.

He led her to his bedroom, which happened to be the cleanest part of the apartment. He helped her into the bed, and he gently tucked her in.

"I'll be right over here on the sofa (which sat in the center of the main room of the apartment). Should you need anything, please feel free to give me a shout."

Rayz filled a glass of water from the sink in the room, placed it on the stand next to the bed for Mau, and exited the room carefully so as not to stumble on his way out. He was also quite ready to call it quits for the day, and his spinning head accentuated this feeling immensely. He filled a glass of water for himself and fell heavily on the couch...

OOC: Haha, sleep off our hangovers, perhaps? Then we can figure out what we'll do with our 'partnership'? :4:

OOC: Sounds like a plan. Shall we have a 'Time Passes'?

OOC: Works for me. I'd say that we should let it go until Mau wakes up... Just as long as she's not too bitchy with Rayz in the morning... :3:

OOC: Muah.

~TIME PASSES~

Mau woke up the next morning with a pounding head ache and not the slightest idea where she was. It was all a hazy blur and thinking too hard about it hurt.

Alot.

She groaned, rolling over and reluctantly opening her eyes. 'Least I'm alone.' she thought with a smirk. 'That's a good sign.

She sat up and looked around, blinking blearily. "What the... oh... right. Rayz." she dimly recalled coming home with him, though the rest of the evening was still foggy. "Great."

Mau slid out of bed and tread lightly out of the room, self conciously straightening her shirt as she went. "Rayz? You awake?"

Rayz was sitting on the sofa, making a slight effort to generate a thought or two in the haze that was currently his mind...

"Awake, no... I'd say that 'mildly conscious' would be a more accurate description." He chuckled slightly and gave a half hearted effort to face Mau. "Are you okay," he asked? "That was quite an evening. I've never seen a woman drink as much as you did without passing out..."

"Would you like some breakfast?"

"I know how you feel." She flopped down on the sofa beside him, groaning. "Oh, I'm alright. I could drink twice that much and be alright... just not completely comfortable. It's one of those things I do so much that I'm almost immune." She chuckled.

"No thanks. I don't think I could keep it down. So, what's the plan for today?"

"Plan for today," Rayz repeated? "Well first, I'd like to clean up a bit. I'd particularly like to brush my teeth to get unpleasant taste of stale whiskey out of my mouth..." Rayz chuckled at his mildly amusing jest...

"Then I was thinking that we should check out the holo-net to see if we can scrounge up a little work for a pair of tallented freelancers such as ourselves. That is, unless you have any jobs to be done hidden in a pocket somewhere..."

Rayz attempted a smile, but after the amount of drink that he'd consumed the night before, that normally simple task took a bit more effort...

Mau leaned her head back, closing her eyes.

"Sounds good to me. Unfortunatly I don't have any such list." She smiled painfuly. "I'm not that lucky."

"It has nothing to do with luck," Rayz said assuredly. "I know a few places on the holo-net that are not known by most. The jobs that will be listed are usually more difficult than average, but significantly more profitable as well. I'd prefer to access it from a public area though to ensure that I am not traced... The local public archive would be a perfect choice for that."

Rayz got up and put a kettle on the burner in the small kitchen nook in his apartment.

"Would you care for some tea," he asked? "After an evening like that, I find it difficult to function without it."

"Ah. That's handy." She'd never thought of that. Through out the course of her career she'd always gone 'slumming' for jobs... essentially, finding the most unreputable place she could and hoping someone would have something they needed doing. If there was a listing it would be soooo much easier...

"Sure, why not? Tea would be wonderful. You know, my mornings after drinking rarely run so well as this one... it's refreshing. Usually, right about now I'm still buisy trying to figure out what the heck I went home with." she smirked.

"What the heck you went home with," Rayz asked? "You can get your own damn tea..."

Of course, Rayz might have sounded a little more convincing while pretending to be horribly insulted had he not said it with a grin on his face.

The kettle on the burner began to whistle, and he poured two mugs of some random domestic tea that he had in is cupbord. He sat down on the sofa, directly next to Mau, and he handed her one of the mugs of tea.

Attempting to make another joke, Rayz stated with a chuckle, "you know, I'd think you'd be nicer to someone who took such good care of you last night. I don't know how much of this verbal abuse I can handle..."

"Yes, what. You'd be surprised at the variety of beings I manage to pick up... yourself included."

She sipped greatfuly at her tea, smiling.

"What's that saying? 'People don't tease you if they don't like you'? Well, abusing you is my way of saying I care. You get used to it."

Rayz chuckled again and asked, "With friends like you, who needs enemies?"

He was actually very greatful for her company, and he also found her playful insults quite amusing. The pair sat and made small talk as they slowly regained a bit of functionality in their minds that had been blocked from the events of the night before. After they both took a few moments to clean up, Rayz gathered a few small supplies such as energy cells for his blasters and some extra grenades and med packs. He was relatively certain that they would not be stopping back at the apartment after a suitable work project was found.

As they strode through the front door of the apartment, the sunlight that hit Rayz's eyes proved that he had certainly not fully recovered. Half blinded, and with a steady throbbing in his head though, he slowly led the way to the public archive...

Mau followed him, grumbling and groaning all the way. Everything ached, particularly her head. And the sunlight wasn't helping matters any.

"I had forgotten just how bright Coruscant could be."
