Its actually the perfect time. The republic is in disarray, so there is a better chance they can leave quietly and without much fuss (relatively speaking of course) than if there was a strong leader at the helm.

there is the threat of it, I see it they were whispering it before Mohatu went crispy, but are taking the time to put pressure on Hisako to try an woo them. It's sorta a dick " We'll behave if you scratch our backs" move but the fact it's even on the table of re-consideration gives alot of political maneuvering room still to head it off.

I find it funny that Weiss' guy is talking about how non-Republic planets will be safe from the Hutts...go tell that to Rhomamool lol

And how do you know that the secession isn't a plow by Djibril and the Hutts to weaken the Republic? Were the Hutts to not attack the listed planets, it would spread doubts into other planets, making some willing to secede as well. Hutt-wise, allowing those planets to remain intact would serve more overall since it would divide the Republic into pieces.

Also, I'm thinking of giving a name to these planets. I can't think of anything good. The only close to decency name I could think of is Zodiac Alliance of Planetary Sovereignty (ZAPS); the "Zodiac" refers to the original twelve planets that decided to secede.

So would this be a full fledged independent faction in the war? And how big do you imagine it being in terms of members?

In a way, that would be correct, I guess. As for how big it is, that would depend on the planets themselves and if any other planets join in. I'm guessing some of the Republic army who hail from one of the seceding planets might join the secessionists. However, fleet-wise and army-wise, I'm not sure on specifics.

this is all assuming naturally that every individual is a sheep and will do as the senators say without question.

but again like I said....There is plenty of political maneuvering here, and to be factually honest there is ALOT of risk involved in it on the sides of the conspirators given the many lines of litigation of corruption..or at least that's how it can most easily be addressed as.

which is what makes this interesting as for now it is a game of political chess, the ones who can sway the public opinions, and bring the most hype to the population as well as bury their rival politically stands the better chance...

oh there are wild cards yes...but trying to pull strings when there is a half starved mamma rancore looking to re-affirm her integrity and resolve

so it's a risky and bold move. Im actually very much looking forward to tackling the issue ^_^ if you remember my time as Viea...you remember that political head games are a specialty of mine.

best of all it gives the senate something to play with and off of so thats the greatest part really.

Any suggestions on names (besides "traitors"). I suggested Zodiac Alliance of Planetary Sovereignty, or ZAPS for short (and jokingly added Secessionist Alliance of Traitorous Aliens and Non-Aliens), but I'd like to hear some suggestions from others.

The staff has talked this over and while you're free to secede with the planet that your senator represents, you don't get to decide that for NPC worlds. If you'd like to continue with this plot, it can be done only with PC worlds.

well kinda kills the point of the succession seeing as it's only like 3 PC's that are going to leave and we have a total of a whooping 12 senator player characters anyway(note, numbers may not actually be accurate but it's there abouts). Even if all were to leave it wouldn't really do much.

Well played sir. (neutral party here, Kuat was sticking with the republic)

You can try, but I mean really you'd probably just as well attack coruscant with a space battle while your at it...
