This thread is only opened for reaction to a holonet boardcast on the latter half of this segment, especially for Republic characters.

Zamid Sarlo, dejected sat alone on the edge of his bedroom. It had been several hours since the unprecedented attempt on the life of the supreme Chancellor Mori Valorum. The Duros representative had disagreed with Mori on several key points but never would he condone assassination to get rid of her. I never thought Terminus Faunus of all people would commit such a crime.

There had been a realistic chance to remove the Chancellor from office legally and soon but now it was gone all thanks to a deranged old man. Not only that it was also recorded live on the holonet. Now the Republic looked even weaker than before, especially from the ridiculous spectacle of a pod chase and Terminus being literally exposed at the end.

Where others can find tremendous amusement in the whole affair, but Sarlo as a Republic senator could not. Squeezing his hands into fists, he despaired.“Are we to be reduced to nothing but a massive joke for the whole galaxy?”

Sarlo honestly didn’t know what to do. There was a part of him wanted to believe there is hope for the Republic in spite of everything that happen. All is not lost, the Jedi did saved the Chancellor, thank the force for Jon. Yes it will be even harder to push for rearmament but it still can be done. The cartel will now be, encouraged by the footage and will likely make another aggressive move against us.

Nodding to himself the Durosian, decided to rest for now. Just as he was about to lay down to sleep when a commlink on the small left-hand table next to the wall started beeping. Surprised, Sarlo reached out and activated it with a switch.“Hello who is this?”

“Zamid, it’s me. We need to talk.”A familiar voice answered. It was Soz Lium, his brother in law. Raising an eyebrow Sarlo replied.

“It is good to hear your voice again Soz but you don’t usually call around this time.”There was silence at the other end, briefly Zamid thought the line was cut before Soz spoke up.“Listen to me Zamid, it’s about Larile.”

Puzzled by the mention of his daughter Zamid then asked.“Okay what happen?”

——————————————————

The next morning, several holonet news groups would receive a message from Senaor Sarlo. He requested that an upcoming speech of be streamed live from his apartment. Soon enough the request was obliged. Anyone watching the live boardcast would all notice something was off with the fifty-years old statesman who stood inside his living room. His expression was tired, clearly he hadn’t slept all night and was struggling to stand.

Sarlo nonetheless maintain enough balance to speak.

“It grieves my heart about what happen yesterday. A man I once considered a colleague dared to try to murder the Supreme Chancellor. It was a despicable and cowardly act. There is no excuse for such a thing.

Last night however, I learned from home of another tragedy. Twenty freshmen from Queen Rana High School were attending a field trip onboard one of Duro’s newest ships when it was attacked by pirates. Despite attempts in negotiation, the brigands fled into hyperspace after looting the cargo. Though not before destroying the vessel, killling everyone else left behind. The death toll is thirty two crew members, one teacher, and a class of twenty students.”

Stopping himself, Sarlo remained silent for one long minute, clearly struggling to find the next words to say. Then tears streamed down his crimson eyes before confessing in a grieving voice.“One of the victims was Larile Sarlo, my only daughter.”In that very moment great sobbing choked at the senator. He buried his head in his hands, and the blue humanoid’s frame was convulsed with emotion for all to see on the holonet.

Finally after what seemed to be an eternity Sarlo looked up at the screen.“Is this the same Republic I fought and bled for many years ago? Too timid to defend itself? Is what we’re living in truly peace?”Instantly the viewers would note the man’s sorrowful glance twisted into open scorn and his voice became harsher than ever before.

“Supreme Chancellor Valorum you were a victim yesterday there is no denying it. Yet I hold your incompetence and complacency as the root cause of our current troubles. Including the loss of everything I hold dear in this life!”

Then with a furious cry Sarlo grabbed a chair and threw at a wall breaking it into pieces. Turning back to the holocam the newly embittered Durosian added.“As effective immediately I hereby announce my resignation as senator of Duro and leave this world. I will no longer be party to this mockery of a government that emboldens criminals and allows its own people to die for some false peace!”

His rant concluded Sarlo grabbed another chair and tossed it right into the camera. The screen became nothing but blank.

Octadar watched the holo broadcast with growing and growing concern, before the news hit him hard that the Senator of Duros had resigned. This was not good. If the Senators in favour for rearmament kept on resigning or trying to assassinate someone, then there would be no support for him or the goals which they all desired. Immediately he tried to change the Senator’s mind

“Aide! Get me the Senator of Duros on the line, move it!” He barked and the aide rushed to the holocom. He had to try and keep him in the Senate, or at least try and do something. Or perhaps... There might be another goal... A goal which could force the Republic to rearm. The possibility of perhaps... Succession? It might be unheard of but no Sith surely would dare attack somewhere so close to the Republic. In fact, they would have to travel THROUGH the Republic to attack. And thus they would have to rearm! All these thoughts closed when the aide gave him the communicator
“Senator pick up, I beg!” He said, and waited

Alek a Jedi knight was never known to be to intrested in politics, yet he was intrested in the fact of the assasination attempt. Sitting on a small bed in a small Undecorated room he knew his fellow knights had saved the day, but at a cost. Alek had lost his parents at a young age Alek became angry even if he had been trained better, but the senator lost his only daughter, so in a way he felt his pain. Watching the broadcast now pacing the room back and fourth deep in thought. Alek did agree with him he may be a Jedi, but he has his own way of thinking at times away from other Jedi. This republic needs to take these things more seriously and take action against the attacks and any threats that may arise. That moment he wished to make a secret vowe that he would help end threats such as this. And if they would have it, he would lend assistance in the act of stoping these types of threats, and help the republic grow. He stopped, “Maybe a message offering my aid? I just feel I can do more if I helped, I know! I need to learn more of the force I can offer aid but as I do continue my teachings, some with the order, and some on my own path.” He then went to work preparing a message hoping to help the republic.

Ocatdar’s call was left unanswered. The now former senator of Duro had abandoned his commlink and even his apartment, leaving the quarters completely wrecked. In his personal shuttle, Sarlo flew out of Coruscant’s atmosphere into the void of space. Anger and guilt filled the elderly gentleman’s soul as he punched in a random set of coordination to the nav computer.

“Anywhere but here.” Zamid growl under his breath. Once ready he activated the hyperdrive and pulled the lever. In an instant the ship disappeared in lightspeed...designation unknown.

The end, no more replies necessary.
