Silence unwavering - Devani Callidar

[Solus]

Sarina sat in the large, unfurnished room she had chosen for Devani. The room was carpeted with a light green berber, and the walls were highly polished yellow stone. Sunlight shone through the windows that lined the upper portion of the wall, and the ornate, calming fountain that lined the entire walls about her soothed the ear.

Th half-Nagai's breathing was slow as she worked to calm herself: she was a bit nervous, this being her first pupil, but she had been assured that she would do fine. To help soothe her nerves, she gently stroked her Tooke's soft fur, staring at the far wall as she thought.

 

[Ru the Boatswain]

Devani wandered into the room,"Master Sarina?Is that you?"She stepped fully into the room now and stood looking around at the unfurnished room."It is quite nice to see you master Sarina, I do hope Im not interrupting either."She looked down at the little Tooke. Her lightsaber hung at her waist. Thin and intricately made it shone in the light.

She had heard Devani walk in, but she hadn't moved, trying to think of what best to do. She got up casually, lowering her sleeve so that Nikki could walk up it and out of her way, as well as out of sight. She had noticed that not many Jedi Knights - or Jedi at all, for that matter - owned pets. She turned to Devani and gave her a small smile. In response to the Lorrdian's second question, she shook her head. As she took very quick inventory of her apprentice, she noticed the lightsaber and nearly breathed a sigh of relief, at least that bit of difficulty was over, her own lightsaber had caused a lot of friction and hardship for her, but she didn't have to worry about that now.

Amiably, she spoke through her mind, :: Devani, tell me about yourself. ::

 

[Ru the Boatswain]

She hesitated, not knowing whether to speak bak through her mind or to speak.She decided on the latter, "I am From Lorrd a panet far from here. I have lived in here most of my life." She looked over her new master and noticed she was nevous, Devani took note and spoke, "You are also a bit nervous, I don't think you need to be."She smiled at her comment projecting a warm feeling.

 

[Solus]

:: I know that I do not, but I do not want to ruin your life. :: she said, quietly. :: I read about where you are from in your file, I mean about yourself. Nothing personal, of course, just general things. ::

 

[Ru the Boatswain]

Silence filled the room, she'd never thought much about herself, "...I really don't know what to say about myself, I like to read the holocrons here in the temple. I...like to talk with the other students from Lorrd. I love Kinetic communication, I think myself fluent in it." She spoke slowly thinking her words over carefully.

 

[Solus]

She gave her student a small smile. :: Now you are the nervous one. Sit down. By kenetic communication do you mean sign language? Which kind? I know CSL and GSL, though not as well. And keep talking. I can teach you nothing if you do not learn about yourself first. ::

 

[Ru the Boatswain]

"Master I am not nervous, I don't know what to say. I do not think ours is catagorized in that fashon. My people learned this wile enslaved, as they were not allowed to speak. It is an intricate language of communication more sophisticated than hand sign language. I can use just my hands though. I learned to copy body lanuage a well as a voice." She signed every word she said this time as she spoke keeping her hands well in front of her.

:: I have heard of your race. So is it a language only Lorrdians can speak? If it is, it would be named, though I don't know what it would be called. Now, continue. Keep speaking about yourself, feel free to let your mind wander. ::

"Actually, its not exclusive. If we ever find the time maybe I can teach you something. I realy don't know what else to talk of, ask something if you'd like." She continued her signing anyway regardless of her masters understanding.

 

[Solus]

Sarina let out a sigh. This was not going well... perhaps she was an anti-social person or just didn't like talking. She could also have forgotten all about herself, but she doubted that. As she watched Devani speak and sign, suddenly she grinned and laughed, though shyly. :: Devani, I would appreciate it if you did not sigh so as you spoke. To CSL, it appears as if you are cussing me out. :: She smiled lightly before she grew a bit more serious. :: Devani, what things do you excel at? I don't mean just the things that apply to becoming a Master... for instance I can cook well, irrelevant, but still. However, do mention several things that do pertain somewhat to the training. ::

 

[Ru the Boatswain]

"I think i excell at..." She paused thinking it over in her head, "...I consider myself somewhat better at the use of the force to lightsaber combat. I've been told my work on my lightsaber was quite intricate and well done. If you woud like to see it i will show you. Ive gone into the use of soresu in lightsaber combat. Anthing else Master Sarina?" She smiled.

 

[Solus]

:: That's good, we won't have to work on that so much, though I'm sure we can put in sparring time. You seem like the type to not want to cut out that block. Now, :: she leaned back in her chair and tried to get Devani to focus. A hand ran through her hair and she asked, :: Now, could you answer my first question, what can you do, what are your hobbies, that you could share with a normal person? Do you design? Do you write? Do you sing? Do you collect odd things? Think in terms of normalcy. The Jedi are people, too. We aren't beings that float in the sky and lord over everyone. ::

 

[Ru the Boatswain]

"I watch the holocrons. If I can keep one I do, and I know how to copy some. I think I even have a few that aren't in the libraries." She shifted slighty as she was still standing. She then smiled asking, "May i sit?"

 

[Solus]

That's better. :: You build things? You're fortunate, I don't have that talent. What kind of things do you build? ::

 

[Ru the Boatswain]

"All I know how to build are lightsabers and holocrons. If i tinkered a bit I might be able to make more but I do not know." Devani began to wonder about her master. She was interesting enough, she'd asked so much she must be trying to fin a good connection. "Can you tell me anything about yourself Master Sarina?"

 

[Solus]

She gave Devani a smile. :: I am a half-Nagai from Corellia. I cook, I do a bit of design, some sewing, I guess... I'm not that good, but my sleeve hems came out well, :: she said, holding up the sleeve of her white tunic, which was embroidered in turquoise swirls matching those on her cheek. :: I make good cakes, I cannot speak, and I dislike having the build things. Technical manuals and things confuse me to no end. I also like to study people, and I enjoy Corellian tea with my dinner. I like seafood. ::

 

[Ru the Boatswain]

"You know what, I didn't know you could not speak. Maybe I can teach you something about my signlanguage!" She was very interested now in her lack of speech. A door had just opened for the student to teach the master. "May we contiue on with something else?" Devani was becominga bit tired of talking, she hoped to move on to something else.

 

[Solus]

She found it amusing that, despite barely even talking at all, Devani was bored of it. Definitely not a socialite. All right. :: Perhaps you could, :: she said, pensively, wondering what to start her off with. :: How much of brandishing the Force do you know? ::

"I know about pushing and pulling with the force, but not much more than that." She moved a strand of her hair from her face and paced it behind her ear. Devani felt more confident about the way this situation was going she was glad it was flowing more now. "I hope I know enough of the force to not be a disappointment."
