Slug throwers

I have been searching around but cant find much information on slug throwers, Im sure there were many variations but...I just cant find anything other than they exist. Can anyone point me to some resources *already tried Wookieepedia*?

well I guess I still have a question regarding caliber sizes, would they be measured the same way we measure them? for example a fairly large slug thrower would use a .308?
