So everyone wanted a Pokemon RP

But no one made a thread, so here's a thread. Brainstorm, take action and lets get rolling. If anyone has an idea they'd like to use as setting or whatever take over if not give me a few days and I'll come up with something but there's enough creative force here that it shouldn't be necessary.

I had talked with Endling about starting one up. It was more along the lines of not specifically being trainers and kinda going somewhere a little different with the 'verse. Since I don't have much going on in the way of new timeline I can work something up before Arkham Origins comes out and ruins all my time.

I had a series of dreams about a Pokemon world that was far more dangerous and realistic regarding wild animals with high thought process capabilities and power over elements or nature. Gym Leaders and their disciples protect their cities from roving herds of wild pokemon that could harm the city or its people. Trainers worked and fought and survived alongside their pokemon against the crime syndicates and the Pokemon League is not a sport but a governing body charged with training the next generation in the defense and taming of the Pokemon World.

Was really dark but really epic.

Funny enough, the general world of Pokemon is implied to have been much darker in the past, and spelled more outright as of X/Y. Its just that in the 'present', the world actively encourages a culture of sport and ~friendship~, rather than returning to the days of Blastoise Artillery and the like.

That all said, if you guys want a system to work off (though you'd need to do a lot of homebrew, due to some stuff not being properly addressed), there's always Pokemon Tabletop Adventures. Have used it myself.

O.O that... that sounds like it could be the premise of a really good book series.

*sigh* Alas, the innocence that brought Pokemon fans together will never change, such is the way of most anything associated with Nintendo. If the DID make a game I'd buy 8 of the most expensive copy's and put them in glass cases.

To be fair, it is also a franchise aimed at kids, and continuing to appeal to them ultimately helps serve the continuation of the franchise. Hence the overall control scheme also never changes.

That said, if you're interested in darker and more mature storylines, but can still accept some lighthearted fun, honestly I just say catch up in the various manga series. Pokemon Special/Adventures is the longest running, and has lightened up a bit over time, but its still a damned good read, with the bonus that the author actually plays the games and can connect plot points like crazy. Rebirth should satisfy the direct pokemon fighting and warfare itch I think, though admittedly I've not read too far with it. And then there's the Electric Tale of Pikachu, which is...
Well to put it one way, where Adventure is more mature by way of being serious and well written, Electric Tale takes a more Hollywood definition of 'mature'.
