This is an awareness that has been growing in me steadily for the last several weeks, but I've only just come to recognize it fully. It's brought me great pain, great suffering to accept. Actually, I still don't think I've accepted it. I just don't want to accept it.

I no longer enjoy video games.

For the past several months I've striven valiantly to become absorbed in virtual worlds, playgrounds and battlefields as I have so often before, yet I find myself perpetually bored. It's bothered me sufficiently to purchase and play new games, but nothing works.

I need the community's help. What's wrong with me?

Shock therapy. RIGHT NOW!

On a serious note: I have felt the same way for a while. It's nothing wrong with you, games feel redundant after a while and you want something new but there is not a lot of variety when it comes to games after a while. Just this week I played KOTOR II and had fun with it and am considering playing KOTOR I again. There has not been a whole lot of good games that came out recently either with the exception of Guild Wars 2, Borderlands 2, and Dishonored.

Dishonored looks really awesome, might want to try that? I don't usually play stealth games but I'm considering getting it.

inb4 lame people come in and say "Go outside" >_>

This happens to me every once in a while. I've always found doing other shit for a while helps. Books, boozing, tracking a man into deepest cambodia to assassinate him. Just, anything that isn't a videogame. Eventually, the urge just comes back by itself.

Mmmhh, Cambodia, haven't looked there for him yet....
Ahem, well what I was going to say has already been said by Kit, listen to this guy, he's a mind reader.

I would ****ing love to get Borderlands 2, Guild Wars 2 and Dishonored but unfortunately this is an important year for me, education-wise, so I have to abandon anything that causes me to lock myself away for more than an hour or two.

Seriously blows. Anytime I get off is spent with friends obviously, but between that and studies, I barely even have enough time to sit down and read, let alone play video games.

If you play online then get a group of friends together that plays the game, might make it more fun.

Problem is I've been occupying myself with other activities for months and I'm still completely uninterested. Perhaps my gaming days are simply... over?

I envy you. Half my day is spent trying to find something to do.

They might indeed be over. A lot of people grow out of gaming at a certain point. If you've spent decades playing them it's probably even more likely.

If you do anything enough, it'll eventually become lackluster. Hence our 50% divorce rate. :CHappy

Would that mean we switch residences as well? If so, then absolutely. I'm so over America.

If you play a lot of single player games, then they can get pretty boring pretty fast. Try something open-ended, or that you can play with friends or a lot of people.

If you're a big PC gamer, try World of Tanks or Red Orchestra 2. Minecraft on PC, especially with the 'Tekkit' modpack, is faaaaantastic.

I mean, I know I've gone through slumps where games lose their interest, but it always comes back for me. Aaalways. I'll just never be quite as hardcore as I was when I was younger. [Oh, those days where I'd waste hours upon hours blasting virtual faces into jelly... <3]

Take a break for now and find a different hobby for a while. I'm in the same boat Constantine is, pulling about 150 hours of school work (class, homework, electives, and related work aka art in general) leaves no time for much of any social life, virtual or otherwise. It bummed me out at first, but now just suck it up and deal with it. The semester is half over and I'll have my old life back by the time the holidays roll around (hopefully).

So for you, in the mean time, find something else. Write, draw, go to the gym, stalk the girl across the street... find a different 'muse'. Getting hung up on something will often cause it to fester.

You're growing up!

Tastes change. If you don't like video games anymore, just move on. Who knows, maybe you'll get your cravings back after a break.

Loved those too.

I've other things to occupy me if I work up the motivation, I'm just kind of... bummed.

It's been about two and a half months... I don't think they're coming back. *Sigh* You're right, I think.

Anyone want to be my friend?
