SONGSTEEL
Description:
Songsteel was an extraordinarily light and luminescent silver metal, used in masterwork swords and staves. The metal was reserved only for the most exquisite of weapons, and was extremely tedious to forge and shape. Songsteel is not resistant to lightsaber strikes in a manner similar to phrik and cortosis, however it does catch the light quite well. The metal does not rust.
Unkar Plutt was known to trade in Songsteel jewelry and crafts. It was additionally a commonly traded item at the Black Outpost. Songsteel was commonly found on worlds with very high levels of volcanic activity, such as Mustafar and Desare. The process of refining the Songsteel into an ingot requires a smith to sing to the metal as they work, largely requiring some level of force-sensitivity to create higher levels of gear. Durasteel CAN be refined into Songsteel through a process known to few blacksmiths, usually requiring the blacksmith to inlay additional metals and runic inscriptions.
Intent:
So this is actually a write up I did when I first joined the site, but didn't understand the PvP rules and the concern over "supernatural" materials. This adds the ability for players to become Blacksmiths and make a variety of items, from ships to armor to jewelry, out of songsteel. It is no stronger than durasteel, however unlike durasteel it is impossible to rust this material, even if completely submerged for thousands of years.
