The arcade business is absolutely thriving in Japan, Bandai Namco is a Japanese company, and Star Wars is very popular in Japan. Also, this isn't new technology; it is based off of a very successful Gundam game, so it's not like Bandai Namco had to spend too much money creating this game.As cool as it looks, I have to wonder why it's an arcade release. When was the last time any of us saw a video arcade still in business?

A lot. My parents used to rent a Raiden machine back in the 90s for their shop. I think buying them outright can go up into the realm of several thousands of dollars.
That's for a standard arcade unit. These 'pod' games cost $20k+.
This game is $24k per unit, before tax and shipping, etc.
