Kinda want to do mine near the sea, so I guess I'll go with the one that's most southward. I got some cool castle pics that I'll send ya via skype.

Damn then I guess I have to change my prospective castle. lol

@Cainhurst Crow , Slam called dibs on the Southern most castle on the map, next to River Peylon- d'you think you can switch to elsewhere? Sorry mate, just that we've worked on this for a bit last night. Pretty please?

May join this. Maybe. Couple questions first.

1) How do vassals contribute to gameplay?
2) How would combat work? How exactly would we roll dice over the Internet?
3) Are you open/ how many houses are there room for?

I'm about to update the map, so after I do that there should be room for one or two more houses.

Vassals are mainly for fluff, and to add a rich story element to the rp. I mean if you have a few vassals, they could potentially add to the army score of your main house, but this rp is not an rp version of an rts so the benefit is mainly for rp struggle purposes.

Alright, so from a PvP standpoint vassals are less important than in RP.

Also, what are all of these strange numbers going on in the attendants and house size?

So, the size of your house is based on rolling a d6, or a few d6, otherwise known as six sided dice.

Trevast: home to stories writ in blood, metal and stone. For every story of glory there is a long list of tragedy to follow behind it. A relatively young empire, like any other it has seen its fair share of trials and tribulations, from the Unification Wars to the Boterim Invasion; in the centuries it has seen Houses rise and fall, noble lords and peasant alike dying in droves. Man, lord- what is the difference to the ebb and flow of history? Just one coin less. Today Trevast is as grand and as majestic as its people would tell you, from cobbler to soldier. Though united by royalty and by history, the lands are split between various Houses, each with their own agendas and motivations.

So it has been said that the families of the North guard the passage into the kingdom, forever watchful and vigil in their guard: "Never Surmounted!" are the words of House Barran, and history has proven them worth their words- even now they extend the olive branch to ancient enemies to form new allies against the horse lords. House Vaiken, border lords that hold the gates against the barbaric tribes for ages past, never relenting in their duty and never truly beaten: their home breeds strong, hardy warriors, perfect for the foes they guard against.

Look south and behold the two ancient seats that guard passage to Heldrayth! Kaith to the East and the Threefold-Bell Keep to the West, held by House Eule; for they never know lasting peace, that these gallant folks will hold the bridge against armies seeking the royal family. A banner full of heroic victories and an army fit to call the pride of Trevast, House Eule looks ever onwards for the next battle. North, dug into the mountain pass some call Trevast's Spine, the Silverhawks reign with riches dug from the earth. Though riches are theirs to behold, the bird of prey still hold true to their ancient ways- savage and brutal, they are today part of Trevast's growing empire, though some noble lords still have difficulty distinguishing between them and the northern tribes.

Further down still, the indomitable Whitestone is a beacon of stubbornness not only for House Wolnier, but for all of Trevast's house in the face of the Boterim threat to the East. For they pose a threat to any armies crossing the Ab'Maki bridge, their keep must be taken but hark! Their legacy is told in the stones that form their castle, the bodies of their foes dashed upon these treacherous rocks- never have the rocks betrayed the trust of Wolnier, and it may never be so. Along with House Ohminjokuul to the far west, these two Houses maintain an iron grip on the seas: known for their debauchery and raiding lifestyle, Ohminjokuul has drawn the ire of many a lord but was surprisingly accepted into the Trevastine fold- a grand act which will forever solidify Bayne's dominance on the seas. A house of pirates and raiders for sure, but nothing splits an army apart than the constant threat of coastal raids.

And in the heart of the land, House Bayne in all its fame and glory rules- their legacy writ in the blood of eastern barbarians, bound by blood of House Barran, they are the shining exemplar for all Houses to aspire to become: by court or by war.

But heed our warning, noble Lords and genteel Ladies: If ye might think these be the only powers in the land, then do not blame us if the Shadows tonight seem just little. . .too human.

Notable Quotes by Past Lords
"They nearly beat us. Nearly."
-Lord Desirak Bayne I, First High King of Trevast upon his victory at the Tongue of Ab'Maki.-

"Maester! Send a word to all the Houses."

"A word, my King? What would that be?"

"War."
-Lord Aldric Bayne I, High King of Trevast to his royal adviser. The whole of Trevastine would march south to push the Boterim lords out from their homes.-

"So hear me now, sons and daughters of Trevast! Let this day be remembered as the day of victory! Your children shall speak of it, wives shall sing of it, the whole of Trevast shall rejoice in it: We have come, and we will drive the horselords out! With me! To war! To freedom! To their deaths!"

-Lord Aldric Bayne I, High King of Trevast to the assembled men prior to the Battle for Kaith.-

"Regret? Regret is for lesser men."
-Lord Desirak Bayne I, First High King of Trevast upon his death bed.-

"The Vaikens can pretend to be kings all they want- as long as they bend the knee and wipe my arse when I command it."
-Lord Desirak Bayne I, First High King of Trevast upon finally subduing House Vaiken, thus ending the Northern Troubles.-
"Help? We will send more than help- tell your lord we will send him the world's end if needs be, for We Shall Come."
-Lord Ollis Barran III to House Bayne's messenger, calling for help against the Boterim invasion.-

"My father told me that House Vaiken was a house made entirely of barbarians. Hah! So the better for them- their enemies will fear them even more so!"
-Lord Erin Barran I to his household.-

"So the Boterim says they will salt our lands, raze it to the ground, rape our women and make slaves out of all of us. This is the difference between a Barran and horse-f***er: Boterim speak, Barran acts. Let them say their worst to us- we will do our worst to them."
-Lord Theo Barran IV to his generals after the arrival of the Boterim messenger.-

"Tell my son, my Erin- tell him I fought, by the gods I fought and I won. But the gods are harsh, and so I must go up and meet them. When he asks what I am doing up there, tell him I am fighting them too."

-Lord Theo Barran IV on his deathbed on the fields of Kaith to Captain Radovic.-

"My Lord! The armies of Rendall, Rivermark and Rosmann march against us! What shall we do?"

"What else? Kill them all."
-Lord Uther Eule I to his court. The ensuing battle would later claim his life though it was a remarkable victory for his host.-

"Quote me when I am dead; I have a war to win."
-Lord Fredrick Eule I to a junior historian, then the great-grandfather of Gregory Payne.-

"Men of Eule! The Divine Emperor is merciful, and will spare everyone of you if you lay down your arms and give us the tribute of earth and water! Should you accept, your House will be one of many within his vast empire but beware! Refuse, and we shall slaughter you to your last man; houses bigger than you have fought and lost by the day. Thousands have died before us! Now what say you?"

"To hell with the Emperor, and to hell to the thousands; we will make ten thousands of you die before us."

-Lord Tresmark Eule I to the Boterim messenger prior to the Battle of Mudd. Tresmark would lose the battle, but not before inflicting massive casualties to the Boterim horde after seven hard days of fighting.-

"Write back home. Tresmark has been avenged."
-Lord Reyd Eule III, father of Egon Eule II to his generals after the Trevastine victory of the Battle of Kaith.-

"King? Him? Of what, ashes and ruins? His victory is nothing more than a temporary break between the next fight. We are Eules- we know no peace; begin the draft, no doubt his time of rule will prove our caution correct."
-Lord Oswald Eule I to his ministers after the announcement of Desirak I's crowning. Though House Eule would not object to Bayne's ascendancy, their relationship would remain rocky for a whole generation- it would not be until the Battle of Kaith that relations between Eule and Bayne would normalize.-

"You wish to enter our lands? Then bleed for it, cur."
-Lord Hal I Vaiken on the North Pass to the northmen host.-

"Pompous gits, House Barran, every single one of them- 'Look at us, we're House Barran, oh ho ho we sleep with northmen all the time~'. Well they can shove it up where the sun don't shine. But! I trust them more than I trust a northman to be embarrassed for being naked, so they're not so bad."
-Lord Edward I Vaiken to his family at the dinner table during one of his usual rants.-

"Look, I know we don't have the manpower to hold the north and send men down to help the King, but gods damn it House Barran sent everything they had and I'll be damned if I let them get the better of me. What do we do? Well arm the ladies then! Let them nag the tribes to death, they'll never know what hit them."
-Lord Edward II Vaiken to his military adviser after the call to war against the Boterim was sent.-

"F**ck me, I've seen women chop meat better than these horsemen."

-Lord Edward II Vaiken, supposedly having said this during the melee.-

"Friends, foes- all bashed against the walls of my keep; I am victorious!"
-Lord Vordan Wolnier, reportedly having said this after his successful conquest of the southern desert.

"Today marks a momentous occasion: A Boterim rider came today, asking for our submission. Coincidentally, I have a new skull to drink out of."
-Lord Hashamin Wolnier II to his family during the dinner table. During the period of the Boterim invasion, the conquering armies did not step a single foot into the desert.-

"Listen to me, ye water-dogs, ye men of the seas! The whole of Trevast is united under one banner- One! Like during the days of Vordan the First! What a glorious sight! But hark, do your eyes see the sails of the horsemen over yonder? 'Tis a most dreadful sight indeed: let us be rid of it! Drums!"

-Lord Vordan Wolnier IV during the naval battle of Kaith. His ships would secure naval dominance for the king's host, preventing reinforcements from landing ashore.-

"Ask any man which house rules the seas, and they will give you two answers: Boterim, and House Wolnier. If they say the Boterim Empire, ask him who won the Battle of Kaith. If he remains stubborn, leave him be: victors do not trouble themselves over the delusions of the losers."
-Lord Vordan Wolnier IV to a northern diplomat.-

"Silver beneath our feet, the skies above our heads: truly, there can be no better place for a grand keep. Builder! Stone and mortar for my keep, now!"
-Lord Grenn Silverhawk I, the official founder of House Silverhawk.-

"House Eule has fallen? Do not laugh my son, they fell fighting for their home; House Silverhawk can do no less. Fly the flag at half-mast today, there is cause to mourn."
-Lord Ericsson Silverhawk III to his court after a rider bearing news of House Eule's defeat came to their keep. House Silverhawk would proceed to defend their homeland with such ferocity that the Boterim Empire's advance was delayed for many months.-

"King? What King? I did not vote for him. But if he says he will defend the land against the Boteri, then I will accept him. But never kneel."
-Lord Ericsson Silverhawk III on the day of Desirak's crowning.-

"Boteri do not know victors when they see one; all I see are dead men walking."
-Lord Deande Silverhawk V on the fields of Kaith.-

"Life here is simple- if you wish gold, board a ship and sail for plunder. You wish to f**k? Board a ship, sail for women. You wish for fame? Board a ship, sail for it. There is nothing in this world that cannot be gained by sailing for it."
-Prince Ohmios Ohminjokuul II to foreign merchants from Trevast.-

"Boteri make for poor lovers."
-Prince Johim Ohminjokuul when the news of Boteri invasion on Trevast reached his court.-

"A good raid is like consulting a whore; do it hard and fast, and none will be the wiser. Do it too slow and you can easily get caught. . .neither price is worth paying."
-Prince Nerminez Ohminjokuul to his daughter, Nohima who would grow up to usher in one of the most intense period of raiding in Trevast's pre-Unification history.-

"The King across the sea has us bend our knees- well I certainly hope he dropped his breeches, or it'd be a very rough time."
-Princess Juunala Ohminjokuul, also known as the Queen who Submitted. Though Ohminjokuul still retains their traditions and titles, the effect of vassals to the crown is still felt to this day- some of the more radical raiders feel that they'd be better off without Crown intervention.-

"They say hide your gold and your women when we come into port...ah well, it means the men are easier to catch."
-Prince Salazar Ohminjokuul on the attitudes of outsiders.-

Well done mate. I will flesh out the Bayne forces soon. Imagine a very well equipped army, with emphasis on mounted knights and heavy infantry.

Well alright. I suppose I can relocate. But only if slam tells me themselves that they'd like me to move. In the meantime, if I have to, how about here? Is this taken?

Okay. Everybody got that? If slam tells me to move, I'll be moving right there. Just so we are all on the same page. Now to wait for slam to speak their peace.

I'm thinking of making a pretty well balanced house. The army would emphasize on using shield walls and halberds, with a crossbow corps for fighting high armor and a group of Druidic warriors. They would be in the desert and have a large superstitious order that focuses on controlling the weather to help their agricultural industry.

Updated the royal family page to include more details about the army. Probably not my best writing, but even still. :)
