Not sure if this goes here, apologies in advance if it doesn't. But here goes:
With the new Timeline comes a bevy of submissions from our playerbase, and as such a lot of sifting through each article. It can be a time consuming process considering the number of people who submit articles in comparison to the number of Mods assigned to the task. I've been party to this on another RP site in the past, having been the first Tech Mod (One of two.) ever assigned to said site's newly ordained Tech Submission forum. What I found what was needed were a collection of Tech mods, spread over different timezones could help alleviate submission congestion. While I had kept a steady pace, myself and the other Mod were soon drowned by the number of articles.
As such I suggested we add one or two more mods. It seemed to work, even after I left the Mod team years later as submissions began to trail off at a decreased rate. What makes things different here on SWRP is that the present Timeline is relatively fresh. This means submission rates are ramped up. It also means that those Mods currently present maybe swamped. Either through the sheer flood of submissions, IRL issues, forgetfulness, or laxness perhaps a combination of any of these. This of course leaves either mod to pickup the slack of the other, which can quickly lead to burnout and a decrease in overall efficiency when reviewing submitted articles. This in turn leads to stagnation in the Submissions subforum, which in turn breeds a wariness and lack of drive to submit further content due to slow response times of the Mods. It chokes creativity, not by being uncompromising. But by sheer lack of numbers and a lengthy response time (Upwards to weeks or months at a time.).
The solution? Simple, instate more Mods. Before you say it, yes, we understand to do so is a big deal. But to not consider doing so, or an alternative is to effectively stifle one facet of SWRP. That of making everything from drugs to ships, to droids to body armor. SWRP partly relies on this as it provides a more diversified and sometimes necessary component to RP. And while not all Mod candidates would work out, subjecting them to a trial time, overseen by the higher-ups would help weed out the dross. Even if after they are made 'full' Mods of the Submissions area, and their pace should slacken, having more than one would bolster the decreased performance to maintain a steady pace. What's more is to also have an over-arching leader of the Tech Submission team to help keep them on task, and dismiss those that have slackened to the point of being ineffectual on the subforum.
