Not really, Paul is about two idiots getting into a series of hi-jinx with an alien companion.

Ted is about a man-child who can't get abandon his teddy bear he wished to life as a child.

Both are about 30 something white males with crude CG Companions who like to get high and utilize adult comedy for their appeal.

I would think that connection was obvious.

Just saw the film. Honestly one of the funniest new movies I've seen since "The Hangover".
