The age old question

We have had a few threads on the great questions of our time, Coke v. Pepsi and Mac v. PC.
Now I give us the greatest question of all time.....

Which came first the chicken or the egg.

The current chickens we have today if you are speaking came from an egg with the specific genes to get the certain chicken. If you are talking chickens in general as a species of Bird it was still the egg.

That is of course if you accept evolution. If not God created the first chickens but I don't.

But if the egg came first what layed it? Last I checked eggs don't just lay themselves from nothing.

Some different species that we do not classify as a chicken. The offspring is what we call a chicken

But where did that bird come from? An egg? And if so what layed it? And so on and so on. I don't believe the question is meant to just cover the modern chicken. At least that is what I have always though.

Well then it came from a underwater breed of beaked sea fowl who were the scourge of the seas and before that an amorphous blob resembling an amorphous blob.

But then where did the amorphous blob come from?

EDIT: I am not doing this to dick anyone around, I believe in evolution. My only hang up is what started it, wheather it just happened at random or a higher power started it.

So in the end it evolved from something that didn't lay an egg then? So the "chicken" came first if you look back to its ancestors rather than thinking just about the modern chicken.

The offspring of one circular blob and a square blob, who came from some amoebas who sprang from one celled organisms. One-celled came from exact mixture of organism stuff to make one. And so on and so on until the big bang with came from varying theories.

As I said before varying theories but probably the end of the universe before ours, which collapsed on itself and created the super charged particle. A circle of never ending as Dakar said.

But we're talking "evolution" and all that. Not some divine force. Besides, the Rigvedas(sp?) say that the universe was created before the gods.
