(note: This will be a massive project of mine, so what you see won't be the finished product until I've worked with grim and/or lavi to iron things out.)

Chaos Nebula

Region: Outer Rim
Systems: Chernobog
Planets
Muspellsheim
Jotunheim
Vanaheim

Distinctions: Radiation, Plasma Gases.

The Chaos Nebulae, so named because when it was first probed by the Hutts it was deemed to unstable to support life. The Extreme radiation and plasma gases that proliferated most of the atmosphere of the only planet able to be detected (that of Muspellsheim) had caused them to simply abandon it from consideration as part of the Hutt Empire. However Muspellsheim, was closest to the sun of that system and thus had the most damage to it...The hutts were right. Muspellsheim is uninhabbitable...but one should never cease in their path at the first blockaid. Farther into the nebula, away from the sun, but still within the superheated plasma gaseous regions lay Jotunheim and Vanaheim, Vanaheim being bathed in light on a 32 hour clock, where 18 of that was darkness. Jotunheim however was farther out still in the system reaches having sunlight only for only one week out of every galactic standard month. The light that bathes both these planets comes across as a dark purple with red hues at times, making near little difference between night and day.

Jotunheim

Jotunhiem was a land that held no vast oceans. It wash however not a desert world either. The ground had been sundered by millenia of war, first between the evolving species, then amongst the giant humanoids that became the dominant species of the planet. The planet itself was Oxygen Rich and mountainous, covered in thin layers of perma-frost all around. In the Vales you would find snow filled treetops stretching as far as the eye could see, and at the uppermost peaks were snowcapped mountains, some stretching into the stratosphere itself. Over its landmass a storm moved, never ending. A giant Blizzard the natives, who called themselves Dracul, called Ragnarok. Ragnarok moved along the great landmass of the planet, which they had called Yggdrasel.

The Dracul

The people called themselves Dracul. They would build houses out of wood, some out of stone, some into the bases of mountains. The Dracul divided themselves into clans and held to themselves a polytheistic religion. In the south of the great landmass Yggdrasel were the Visimier. The Visimier people dwelled primarily amongst the vales and forrests of the land and were for the most part farmers of the native folliage and herders of the livestock. They worshipped the god Drimi, who was the god of the harvest and of the feast. A god of plenty. They were said to have lasted only as long as it took for their nothern neighbors to sweep over them, like demons in the night. Only archaeological records, and battle hyms of their fall give grace to their existence.

To the East there were the stonemasons, carving their homes into the base of mountains. They called themselves the Dwarmen. The Dwarmen worshiped Hrothgar, Lord of the Forge and king of the Underhill. It were these people that lasted longest against their northern neighbors. For nearly three hundred years they wared with each other being pushed deeper back into their halls of stone and crafting ever more intricate tools of war that would eventually be taken from the fallen and reverse engineered, perverted to their brothers in the norths uses...

The east was considered sacred land. The dwelling place of demons and gods. None ventured there, not even those of the Northern Mountains...

Loken
u7er7.jpg

The Clan of the North. Loken. So named for the dark god they pledged themselves to. Loken was the Lord of Demons, of destruction, blood and death. His people were a harsh people, coming from the mountainous peaks of the north. Their history is one of interrivalries and of bloody sacrifices meant to give them power. The strongest amongst them now are called the Samael. They lead the Legions, which is the name given to the Dracul Army. No longer is this clan called Loken, as they are the only clan left.

This clan was conisdered nothing dangerous to any but themselves amongst the other two clans as they were constantly at war with themselves. However it wasn't until one rose, claiming the title of a demi-god, so blessed by their Lord and he felled some of the strongest amongst them that this clan was united. Throughout the centuries, whether it be by death in combat, or of old age, there always has been one who held this position since the clan united. His title is the Demogorgon.

After a time comes, another may challenge for the right to take the tile of the Demogorgon. Only if that being has proved himself in combat, is shown to be gifted physically by their god, such as being stronger or taller than most Dracul or able to prove himself tactically can he be considered a candidate. Once he has the blessing of the priesthood can he tehn be considered as a challenger. Should the challenger defeat the demogorgon in combat he will have proven that the blessing of the Blood God had been passed on to him, and be praised for killing the weakling pretender of the throne. For what if the pretender had lead them astray, due to no longer being guided by Loken's hand? All could have been lost.

When a Demogorgon gets to a certain age in his life, a venerable age of 130, for the Dracul live longer than the average human, but not by alot, he is given what is called the Death of the Ancient, which is the right to leave and head west, with naught but two months food rations, and the armor and weapon on his body. The East is a sacred place, and only the most prestigeous venture there to die in the realm of the Gods, or live on should their Lord bless them with such...Only Three Demogorgon have had such an honor. After one week a tournament is held, to celibrate the death of the Demogorgon, and those who feel they are truly blessed by Loken are allowed to take place in combat amongst themselves, not one on one, but all combatants at once. There was once a great battle of 100 men in the Halls of the Dracul. Its battleroars echoing off the mountaintops of Jotunheim.

After inhabiting their world alone, the Dracul grew once again restless, waring with each other for sport and gain. It seemed though they still held their bloodlust there would be no more enemies but themselves to war over. It was then however that the Priest of Loken had discovered amongst the advanced machinations a ship amongst the ancient homes of the Dwarmen. Hidden away and tasked with twenty men to guard it, though all had died, it was a prototype. The Demogorgon ordered it taken to their home and studied. Soon the secrets of space travel would be theirs, and perhaps the Blood God would give them other worlds to conquer...

Alright, so what I've got so far is their history up until about 400 years ago along with a bit of planetary descriptions. I'll be completing the history, along with the actual biology of the race, though I've given a bit of that within the history as well. After which will come the technology section, and then finally a sign up section. Needless to say this is a WIP. Still though any and all CnC is always appreciated along with any questions and what not...

Vanaheim

Located relatively nearby in the Chaos Nebula was Vanaheim. This planet was much different than Jotunhiem. It had multiple continents, and an ocean. The primary continent was Corillahn. The people there developed similarly to those of the planet Jottunheim, but instead of being divided by the land, they were unified on it. The people came together, forming great masses to determine the best for their individual city states that had developed over the centuries in a type of forum.

These people were diplomats by nature, not warriors. The continent the main populace developed did not have the harshness that was the developing point for the Dracul. However, the people of Corillahn were master artisans, capable of weaving cortosis metals gained from the more mountainous continent to the south across the sea. Explorers developed naturally and over all the planet itself was a peaceful planet, war would break out here and there as with any planet or culture, but it would usually be ended in the planetary senate rather than on the battlefield. Troops were more used for leverage than as actual forces for change. It was the threat of war that worked more for their people as a deterrent...

And so it was not surprising when, after 200 years The Dracul decended on the people en mass that they were quick to surrender...though the terms were bloody. The Demogorgon of The Dracul was different than his predecessors. Not only was he strong and tactically minded, he grew up as part of the research teams that studied the many traps and few ships that were created by the now extinct Dwarmen. Technology had backed his mind as well, and it was with this that he ascended to power...the promise to conquer other planets.

The native resources, baring that to the east which was sacred were all but swept clean as the Dracul designed their ships. Over the course of 200 years the giants quickly advanced technologically, relatively speaking. Their fleets wouldn't allow for weaponry, that technology was lost on them still, but transport was more than capable...

This should bring them more up to date. I'll post about the different statuses within the clan, that of the warrior, crafter and priesthood with my next post, as well as explain their tech and what not. Any CC is welcome of course in the mean time. :)

I would like to archive this, it's something that I've actually decided to write into something much, much bigger for a personal project. Also I've came up with something a bit more fun me thinks that I'll be posting up shortly.

My appologies to those of you who PM'd or MSN'd me excited about the faction. The faction I have in mind however certainly will deliver.

Dracul? Sounds like something from Bram Stoker's Dracula.

Well, if you come up with something equally as exciting I'll look at it.
