So we all know that the Site operates using Pseudo-Real Time; But I wanted to see how Far I could stretch this.

Say I wanted to RP the beginning of the Next Timeline some numbers of years BEFORE where everyone else would be RPing it... Be it that I would be RPing 2 or 10 years ahead of real time/the rest of the Galaxy. Sure, it would limit my casting options for Threads, but I think it could work, so long as there aren't people who say it would be against the rules/have a problem with it. That is why I am here, to get opinions.

I could RP flashbacks, which I have seen done, but not in the form of entire 10+ thread Story Arcs.

Is it reasonable to RP this particular Story Arc 10 years ago? Would there even be a history of the timeline to do that with? Would the threads have to be STRICTLY death disabled, since we could have characters RPing in this set back time vs real time? What other issues would I run into?

Is there a specific Time range that I Could Easiest get away with? Say, if 10 years isn't reasonable, perhaps 5 years reasonable?

Thoughts? And thank you all in advance for your educated responses!

In theory, though it depends a lot on what the setting ends up being and history according to what is put up.

To play it safe it might be best to do something that is sealed away from the locations in the setting that going to be used, but then that depends on exactly what you want to be doing.

If nothing else my character would be around back then. Any real answer has to wait until after the setting is laid out really.

It's a good question really. Fluid time can raise these sorts of problems. I think your best bet would be to check on a case to case basis. If what you say is true and it's just the initial story arc of your character, maybe you could just approve this with the people you're RPing with for your first six or eight threads or whatever. You can't really just assume because it can cause problems for other people's internal chronology: the Sith I'm making, for example, will be arriving to Korriban in her first thread.

It was an impulsive thought that came about while I was brainstorming some New Timeline ideas; But the more I think about it, I can only really see more issues than benefits if I try to do a entire Arc 10 years prior to real time. People being unable to RP in the Arc due to the ages/whereabouts of their characters, people dropping out of the Arc, and having to RP around the fact that this individual disappeared/having to replace the individual, and what if something HUGE and character-changing happened to the character during this time that contradicts how the character is RP'd in the real-time threads they are involved with.

Obviously, it would be WAAAY better character development if this could work out (ie. RPing a character with a highly developed and detailed history the moment they started RPing it in real time), and I think it would make for a pretty interesting story.

The only question that arises is: Why not RP this awesome character development in Real Time? What benefits can RPing the past/flashbacks yield that cannot be given through real time?

Then do so, in alternate RPs but just be aware you cant' easily take part in the main RP at the same time as this development.

*Is using the end of the current TL to develop my characters a little more for the next one*
Current events will become part of her backstory when the time comes around.

I've RPed backstory out lots of times with people, it doesn't need to be in detail though. You can just talk about a situation, say how they interacted and write it up.
