The twin suns backed the rugged dessert rocks of the tatooine canyon. Jack had managed to convince the masters to let go to Tatooine with two of his fellow padawans Anara and Adun, the trio where also accompanied by Omiya, an acquaintance and agent of the the rebel alliance under the guise of a survival exercise in the desert. They had spent many days tracking through the stone labyrinth and camping out rough, not for training but in truth the three spaceketeers where after an even bigger prize, the feared canyon Krayt Dragon. Jack took a swig from his water canteen and splashed some water over his face, he was convinced that the beast lurked within the canyon and he was not going to leave the place empty handed. He took another look through his binoculars once more, scanning the canyon for any signs of life..so far they had come up with nothing and that was beginning to peeve of Jack a little bit,

Despite wearing nothing more than a white brassier and skirt, Anara was drenching in sweat from the heat. One might've thought a Togruta like her would be used to the heat due to their heritage but the temperature was unbearable. Another thing her species was known for was their hunting and tracking skills, another thing she wasn't used to.

"Arrr...this is hopeless. C'mon Jack, it's been-I don't how long, but we haven't even seen ONE dragon"

The twin sun beat down mercilessly, not that Omiya noticed all that much, growing up on Sullust had done far more than simply prepare her for the similarly harsh deserts of Tatooine. On Sullust, many of the cave systems were heated naturally by underground lava rivers and she could still remember the destruction and terror when one of the tunnels in the mine near her hometown had collapse and a river of lava had poured out, killing everyone within in minutes. No one ever seemed to understand how fast lava could really move.

Omiya waved a hand across the side of her face as if to wave away the memory, frowning, she turned her attention to the youngest members of their little hunting party. While she'd never be so rude as to say it to his face, Omiya still viewed the young human padawan, Jack Endel, as a child. When Omiya had been around his age her former master had just been killed and she was given a knife and thrown into an arena, forced to fight in order to earn the right to live. Omiya couldn't help but wonder if this ritual of the Jedi going off to find their own materials for their strange weapons was similar somehow. The boy seemed soft to her for some reason, and Omiya began to grow worried at both his eagerness to find his prey, as well as his inexperience with combat, training only went so far.

Over the past two weeks, Omiya had managed to become comfortable around the so called strange Jedi, even to the point where she had begun to enjoy their company. They were all pretty young in her opinion though, which is why she figured she'd be tasked with keeping them safe on this suicide mission. Omiya knew she wasn't that much older then then these padawans, but she couldn't help but remember what she had been like when she was their ages. Folding up a rather unhelpful map of the local area, Omiya threw it in the backseat of the V-19 landspeeder she had managed to acquire in Mos Espa before setting out on the hunt. Not only did it provide reliable transport so they didn't have to walk, it was also armed and anything that would keep these young Jedi from needing to get up close and personal with a Krayt Dragon was well worth the trouble of stealing.

Hopping down from where she had been sitting on the landspeeder, Omiya put a hand up to shield her eyes. The antisocial rebel rarely let down her guard but these Jedi seemed harmless and the sunlight was a crueler master then any Omiya had ever had. Sullust may have prepared her for the heat, but she grew up underground and the twin suns in Tatooine's sky made the land much brighter then she was use to. Her cybernetic eye had been aching ever since they landed on this sand covered world. Cybernetics and the fine crystallized shards of dirt and rock that made up the landscape kept digging it's way into every crack and crevice of her armor and body. Despite not having to walk the harsh landscape, Omiya's feet still felt sore, and she could feel the sand covered blisters sharply with every step. At least the pain kept her aware and alert.

As Omiya began to walk over to the two youngest members of the group, she cast a look in Adun's direction, he seemed dependable and both he and Anara at least wielded a real weapon, however strange their lightsabers seemed. Omiya actually really wanted to borrow one and take it apart just to find out how it worked, but she'd never ask for such a favor, a weapon such as that wasn't meant to be toyed with and she knew better than to give in to curiosity. Overhearing the young Togruta, Anara, speaking Omiya smiled to herself. Both of them seemed rather eager to begin the hunt, and Omiya knew better than to let younglings rush to their deaths. "Patience." was all that she said, looking at the young woman before turning to Jack and holding out a PBR-2a Pisto. He would need something to defend himself if the Krayt Dragon managed to catch up with the landspeeder. Omiya didn't say anything though, just gave the kid a small smile before turning to look out over the canyon. She didn't need the binoculars since she could zoom in with her optical implant. Just as she was surveying the canyon, a small gust of wind hit the woman in the face, causing her right eye to sting with more sand and Omiya began rubbing the dirt out of the useless eye.

Adun grunted in irritation as he put the covering of cybernetic arm back in place. After the crash on Sullest he had to have the thing completely rewired and it still had a few kinks in it. Looking around at his small group of companions, he remembered how much he had hated Tatooine, mostly because he didn't like sand. It was course, rough, irritating, and it got everywhere. Then again if it weren't for this place he might not have met his master or Rayla, or even Anara or Jack if he thought about it. He reached out with the force and tried to sense for anything in the ground, only to find nothing. He sighed quietly, he wasn't too comfortable around this newcomer, sure he was thankful for being rescued off Sullest, but at the same time he hardly knew her. Seeing her cast a gaze in his direction he shifted uncomfortably. He sent a telepathic message to Jack. Anything yet?

" Anything yet " her heard Adun ask as the Omiya approached Jack and offered him a blaster. He smiled and took it from He might have been certain that a dragon did indeed dwell in his this canyon but whether they would find one even this all this equipment was pretty slim. He spent days beforehand researching the target and learning of its habits and posibile weakness's. " Patience, according to the data, Krayt dragons lurk in places strong in the (dark side) force, if we put our heads together I am sure we can track them down" he replied looking back though his Electrobinoculars, briefly placing them down on the rock to take off his sweat coated tunic.

Patience was something Anara most definitely didn't have,"Oh feth this, I'm going to take a look" and in a moment she Force jumped into the canyon, landing on a ledge then jumping down further. The canyon was deep but it was still as bright down here than it was up there, though slightly cooler. This made her sig with relief before she unclipped her lightsaber and called out the rest of the party.

"It's a lot cooler down here! You should take a look! Unless it's too high for you!"

OOC: Perhaps we should ask someone to play the krayt dragon and some potential Tusken Raiders, @Omiya

 

[Prudence]

A thundering noise could be heard across the canyon, followed by another and another. They were so booming and thunderous that smaller creatures like Anara would feel the shake through their body, displacing the mere ground beneath them with the vibrations. A sick, fierce shriek of a roar was then heard bellowing throughout the canyons walls, bouncing from wall to wall throwing off any attempt to triangulate the source through mere hearing. A moment passed and then the thunderous steps continued, in more of a jog, and then an all out run. Stopping before turning the corner of the canyon that would reveal it to them the dragon roared again, as if daring any of the group to challenge it.

 

[Omiya]

It almost seemed as if her eye was getting worse, no matter what she tried it just seemed become more and more irritated. Omiya could help but think that it might just be the wind itself, the Jedi didn't seem to be all that bothered by the small traces of sand in the air, well except for Adun. Even though all three of them were Jedi, Adun was at least another adult Omiya could count on to watch out for the overeager of their companions. Turning around to walk back to the landspeeder, Omiya noticed him closing the maintenance panel of his arm, it seemed the sand was bothering him as well, probably more so. Adun seemed like a good enough sort, cautious, watchful, but kind and protective, all of which were traits Omiya could admire even if it meant he didn't trust her, not that she'd blame him.

Omiya could hear Jack talking to the others about the information he'd gathered on their prey as she pulled a small waterskin out of a compartment of the landspeeder and wetted her eye. Jack mentioned something about the Force just before the kid took off his shirt. Omiya was about to remind the kid that a sunburn on this planet would be a lot worse than the heat when the Togruta padawan jumped down into the canyon like a mad woman. Dropping the waterskin and rushing over to the edge, Omiya looked down just in time to see Anara land safely at the bottom and call up, baiting them to join her. Turning to face Jack, Omiya shook her head and said, "You Jedi are crazy, oh and those suns are more dangerous than anything in this desert kid," making a sideways comment hoping Jack would take the hint and put his shirt back on. Omiya didn't want to have to worry more than she had too, she was almost certain that these Jedi would be the death of her.

Almost as if an act of providence, brought about by the Jedi's shear will, a sound ripped through the canyon, reverberating on the back of the roars that preceded it. It was undoubtedly what they were hunting and the sound of it's powerful hatred made Omiya's blood run cold. Nudding Jack's shoulder slightly she looked over the edge of the canyon down to Anara, waving her hand to call her back up and spoke just under her breath. "Get on those blasters, it's time." Turning from the canyon, Omiya ran over to the landspeeder as well, pointing at Adun and pointing back at the steering wheel. Once she was in the backseat, Omiya picked up the DLT-995 Blaster Rifle from the floor, the Rebellion had been quite generous when she had enlisted. It was now or never, Omiya couldn't help but take a short moment to send a silent prayer to Triakk.

Adun was in the process of joining Anara on the ground when he heard that horrible sound echo off the cannon walls. He felt his hand go the the sword grip of his lightsaber only to stop. We need to get to Anara now. Turning back around, he saw Omiya point towards the speeder and nodded. Calling upon the force, he flung himself through the air and into the drivers seat as he powered the speeder on. He looked up at Jack as Omiya grabbed her gun. "Jack! Come on!" He could detect the faint worrying thoughts of his passenger, but was more focused on getting to Anara. He had thought of her as a little sister, and if anything were to happen to her, he would never forgive himself. Pushing those depressing thoughts aside, he looked back at his passenger "Hope your good with that blaster. I've heard stories about these beasts; none of which are pleasent."

" Ah your over reacting " he said dismissively, he guessed the rebel was fine with tearing apart stormtroopers on the battle field but a little upper body nudity and she's about to soon, " I pack plenty of sun block, besides it to hard for coverage.. " he said before being cut off by a sick fierce shriek of a roar bellowed throughout the canyon. " We need to get to Anara now.", Aduns words had hit Jack, Anara was at the canyons bottom with the beast which was most likely closing in on their scent if they did not act quickly. Adun and Omiya where already on a landspeeder. Jack took the more direct approach and summoned the force for a burst of speed and leaped off the canyons side, bounding down the canyon wall like an agile mountain goat.

Anara felt a sudden rush of adrenaline is she heard the roar of what she knew was a krayt dragon. She grinned and calmly ignited her lightsaber ready for wherever the beast might appear. While she waited she spoke into her wrist comlink,"I don't know if you guys heard that or not but I gotta feeling it's about to get wild!", it might not be surprising to see a Togruta eager to hunt a beast such as the krayt dragon, though it depends on what you know about them. This would be her first hunting trip and if she killed the dragon she would definitely be honouring her heritage. "Come out and play little lizard", she quietly whispered to herself as she assumed her Form IV stance.

Another piercing scream revealed the dragon was probably around the corner, but it wasn't coming out. It roared again, ending in a sneer sounding tone, as if daring the Jedi to come after it.

 

[Omiya]

Snickering in response to Adun's comment, Omiya finished making sure the blastor rifle was good to go just as Jack jumped over the cliff. Her stomach did a flip as she paused to watch the white haired boy disappear from view, the activation of the landspeeder's repulsorlift engine brought Omiya back to the moment. As she slipped down into the back seat and leaned to the side, attempting to locate the direction of the raors, Adun turned the V-19 down a path leading into the canyon. Just as Jack and Anara came back into view, Adun began to turn a corner when she saw it. Omiya could see a large reptile creature, bigger than anything she'd ever seen on Sullust.

Omiya froze, unsure if she should take aim and fire at the creature in an attempt to keep it from targeting the others while they were on foot, or if she should drop the blaster rifle in the seat and man the landseeper's guns and just try to beat the creature down. "Feke, Adun turn this thing around we need to get the others, I'll cover us!" The rebel yelled, standing up with one foot on the floorboard and a knee on the backseat, Omiya leaned into the side of the vehicle, aiming the heavy rifle at the beast, zooming in ever so slightly with her cybernetic eye for a better shot. The distance couldn't have been more the forty or so meters, well within the DLT-995's range and not so far as to be difficult for her to see the beast well enough to shoot at it.

Omiya aimed the first shot at the dragon's right front leg, if it couldn't run after them, or away from them, their chances of taking it down would be far greater. The DLT-995 Blaster Rifle was known for it's severe stopping power, but Omiya wasn't sure how effective the weapon would be against a Krayt Dragon's scales, either way if her aim had been true she would soon find out. It was entirely possible the condensed bolt would blast a hole in the beast, but if the scales managed to disperse the bolt's energy on impact the end result would be far less impressive to say the least. Still though, if it came down to it Omiya could always turn to her KYD-21 blaster pistol as a last resort, and Adun and Anara always had their lightsabers on hand.

As Adun turned the speeder around, Omiya's body turned with it, eventually she was leaning over the back of the V-19, using its surface to balance the rifle and take a second and third shot before stopping to look for any signs of damage or wounds the creature might be experiencing. One way or another she knew the creature had to be brought down and soon, if it caught up with the landspeeder they would be stuck out in the desert even if they did kill it. However the thought of the Krayt Dragon forgoing them and targeting Jack and Anara instead still caused a cold pit to form in her stomach, Omiya just couldn't let them get hurt. She had to admit though, the DLT-995 packed more of a punch then she was use to dealing with and her shoulder was starting to grow sore, not that it even measured to the amount of pain Omiya was capable of taking.

Adun felt a thrill race through his body as he spotted the large beast. It was far bigger than anything he had seen. He heard Omiya tell him to turn around, which he was more than happy to do. Wiping the speeder around, he heard blaster shots ring out behind him. Heading straight for his fellow padawans, he was starting to wonder if this was all part of the plan. As he got closer to the duo, he shouted out to them. "Jack, Anara! get in!"

Jack heard the voice of Adun call from down below on the canyons bottom, "Jack, Anara! get in!". Jack did not need to be asked twice, making his way swiftly down the canyon walls towards the armoured land speeder on the canyons floor. bounding down the rock wall once again with the grace and agility of a mountain goat. Once there he made his way to the gunners seat of vehicle rfeady for whatever is going to happen next. "Its a good thing we brought Anara" Jack thought to himself "Togruta hunt big monsters like that spiritually"

As soon as she saw the dragon she felt a huge rush of adrenalin before she Force jumped straight for it and landed just on top of its back, light saber in hand and would slice it's back lags with her saber before turning around to push her blade through its neck.

 

[Prudence]

The Krayt dragon reared up, lashing out with its leg to catch Anara square in the shoulder as she aimed to slice its legs. With any luck when she flew through the air from the kick she would get batted away by the massive beast's tail as it lashed out at the flying Torgruta. Krayt dragons were smart, and this one had been attacked before.

Whipping the speeder around Adun made a b line for the canyon ridge, driving the speeder on the uneven surface. He watched nervously as Anara charged beast and began to slash at it, only for it to knock her around. Seeing the tail of the monster moving towards his friend Adun reached out and attempted to move her out of the way through the force. "Light it up you two!"

Aiming the medium turret at the krayt dragon firing a barrage of blaster fire to the legs of the dragon, aiming to send it toppling over the great beast into the side of the canyon. He kept a steady attack pattern, hoping one of the others had a plan of action to take down this beast. Anara on the other hand seemed to have taken the more direct approach and attacked directly
