The Great Temple of Yavin 4
Sith temple on Yavin 4
|
The Great Temple is a temple complex on Yavin 4, founded and created by the original Sith and their Massassi slaves. the temple was created many centuries ago by a Sith lord fleeing from Korriban with his followers after being pushed out by other Sith Lords. The temple was a rumor to the sith until documentation was rediscovered referring to the sith lord and planetary system named Yavin. The Temple it's completely self sufficient due to the isolated nature of the previous inhabitants with it's own farms, water supply and sewers but the technology of temple is primitive lacking many basics of modern structure such as landing pads and other amenities.

The Great Temple was a lofty circular stepped-pyramid structure consisting of a number of successively receding stories and a high-ceilinged chamber at the top. It was built from huge blocks of stone hewed from Yavin 4's crust, with no visible signs of advanced machinery. It was founded 4 centuries ago by a sith lord and his followers fleeing Korriban after being pushed out by other sith lords, he would see the temple finished only to betrayed by his apprentice, taking his throne for himself as the high priest of the temple, ever since the high priest/priestess has taken an apprentice which would eventually replace them or die trying.

The temple consists of 8 floors, not including the throne room, the top 4 are used for accommodation and storage for its sith inhabitants and trainees, the other levels are dedicated to different to the teachings. Outside, the temple grounds consist of farms, housing and smaller building and temple outcroppings used mostly by the local Massassi for their daily lives and to provide the complex with food and other necessities need to live on the planet.

The library is the locally stored knowledge of the planet, it contains the history of the great temple and all it’s high priests and priestess. It also contains knowledge of dark side, such sith alchemy, though the library is small and most of its books only contain basic knowledge as most advanced techniques are passed down from masters to appreciates or it is hidden away by those greedy for knowledge and power.

A master always presides over the library recording the history of the temple and making sure the knowledge that is taken returns to its proper place. This role is often given as punishment to masters that have failed the high priest/priestess or given to a newly made master, though newly made master may have the position for a few years while failed master could preside over it until their death.

The labs in the great temple took up the entirety of the 4th floor, filled with a couple dozen labs which varied in size but often were small except those with higher positions. They were given to the masters of the temple to conduct experiments and to teach their apprentices the arts of Sith alchemy. These labs take a whole floor and each lab is highly individual to the master that presides other it and the research they are conducting though there is standard equipment that all use in sith alchemy, they secondly acted as studies and offices for the masters as they spent the majority of their time there.

The prison was located in the Temple, It was mostly used for storage and keeping of wildlife to be trained or experimented on, though sometimes it was home to more intelligent creatures such as unlucky apprentices who had failed their masters and even rarer the home to one of the priests/priestess enemies.

The prison cells inhabited the outer walls behind the thick stone of temple, in the centre lay the integration rooms there are 4 of them each taking a quarter of a circle that lay in the centre of the of the level. These rooms contain numerous tools and devices to help with the extraction of information from most unwilling subjects, in emergencies they serve as impromptu operating rooms for those of surgery.

The Great Temple's throne room, also known as the Grand Audience Chamber and the Ceremonial Hall, was a ceremonial hall located within the Great Temple. Measuring approximately thirteen by sixteen meters, the throne room was accessed through a large wooden doorway carved with symbols that curved and twirled in a beautiful pattern. The Chamber itself was a huge echoing room, the acoustics of the Chamber made it good for singing. The long sloped floor of which was paved with rectangular slabs. The slanted outer walls came together above the floor to form the room's squared-off ceiling. Most of the flagstones were a dull grey, while shimmering stone lozenges ornamented the chamber with bright ochre, vermilion or dark green.

The high roof was equipped with skylights open to the sun and aligned with solstice and equinox. At the far end of an open aisle, there was a raised dais reached by a flight of stairs made of fourteen steps. The back wall boasts five large window-slits that ensure an abundant supply of fresh air and natural light. Behind the dais, a small hidden stairway leads to an observation platform at the roof of the Temple.

The Shrine was a tomb It was located 2 miles northeast of the Great Temple., it was built to both bury and honour the original founding sith lord, it’s design was reminiscent of the tombs found the valley of the Dark Lords. The temple was situated on a volcanic island in the middle of a deep lake and it could only be reached on foot by stepping stones. These were set a few centimetres beneath the surface of the water, which forced all who crossed them to approach the temple with their heads bowed, so they could watch their feet.

The temple itself was made from polished black-coloured obsidian that was studded with corusca gems. It was etched with Sith hieroglyphics and pictographs, that translated as magic incantations to protect the temple and call doom to its defilers. At its apex was a large statue of the Sith Lord and outside, there was a small courtyard.

Inside, the temple had just one chamber and catacombs beneath it. These consisted of a number of chambers, interlinked by tunnels. The last chamber contained the sarcophagus of the Sith Lord, where his body and possessions were placed after his death. The temple also had a water cistern inside of it.
  • To provide a write-up and accounting for the temple the sith empire gains in this plot.
