The Lightshield

I have thought of a great weapon for a Jedi:

The lightshield​

A shield composed of several emitters that form a shield shaped weapon. Like a buckler or a Kite shield.

Tell me this is not the most awesome idea for a Jedi. I'm applying this to my Jedi character as we speak.

It hasn't been addressed, but they probably would be. Personal shields are commonplace now, more or less, and shield gauntlets are both less effective and less practical than personal shields (probably less advanced too).

There really wouldn't be anything to gain by banning them. They are more style than substance.

this idea is like... already been there dude. i suppose if you want to go into discussion about it, shield gauntlets are indeed like lightsabers, so i imagine that there are indeed just as many variations in it as trhere are a lightsaber, and im sure theres one that looks like your idea of a lightshield. honestly personal shields are way better anyway just sayin' . . . energy shields are cool. plus they make you glow like you were chewing on spice.

That's up for debate, since the only small ones are seen from some independent Force group tens of thousands of years into the future. Granted, Star Wars tech is stagnant, and does not change at all over thousands and thousands of years, but even so, they are also linear.

Personal shields encompass a proximity, shield gauntlets just one area. It's obvious which is the better and more practical choice in the middle of a battle, even for a Jedi.

That doesn't cover lightshield's though which can be the size of those large spartan shields from 300.

As for a shield being made entirely out of Lightsabers.... Yeeaaahhh I don't really see that happening. Just use a shield gauntlet like the Jackals from Halo, dude. It focuses all the energy of a personal shield into a single panel, making it far more useful. Alternatively, use one of the Gungan's shields.
