Description:
Machines are a wonder. In the modern world, it is nearly impossible to escape them. Even among the flesh sentients, machines have been integrated into their very DNA. On planets such as Csilla, Bastion, and Coruscant, machines with cameras watch every move, every breath, every second that occurs. For the Chiss, information is everything. For this reason, they created an intelligent virus to hack into every camera on the surface of a world, record what it sees, then transmit it back to the machine. In a massive, encrypted Machine, it is sifted through, logged, analyzed and transmitted in nanoseconds.

First secretly tested on Csaplar, Csilla in 1002 ABY, the Machine, codenamed Crahsystor, and virus performed fantastically. However, after extended periods of time, local police and private investigators were able to track the virus's information back to the Machine. So, over the period of eight years, the Machine and virus were redesigned every time they were discovered by the most intelligent minds the Ascendancy had to offer. By 1010 ABY, the Machine and Virus were totally untraceable even by the most complex technology the Chiss could create.

This did not come without a price, however. The Virus, in order to become untraceable, undetectable, could not seek its own survival. A simple memory wipe will remove the Virus from any machine or camera. To combat this, the Chiss added in features into the Machine that made it capable of reinfecting cameras and other machines. The Machine is no small item of technology, and the smuggling and installation of it is nearly impossible. Thus, averagely, the programming and Virus for the Machine is separated and carried in a few(min10) briefcases. Easily disguised as recording software, the programming of the Machine and the Virus can be easily moved and removed with enough people. Usually, after the moving of the Virus and programming, the Machine's other components must be bought and assembled for it. The Machine's components can be bought and assembled from average home computers, though a minimum of 700 home computers and hours upon hours of time is needed for the assembly. However, if properly hidden and assembled without a trace, the Machine, once installed, will never be found through tracing of the Virus.

The Virus is programmed for five commands. Infect machines and cameras, record what they see, transmit it to the machine, and erase recorded evidence the Machine deems harmful to the Ascendancy, and wipe itself away if someone stumbles upon it. While the Virus wiping itself away will still leave a trace that 'something' was there, it will not leave anything that could reveal it, it's programming, or the Machine in any way.

The Machine must be in near constant supervision, thus one of the operatives tasked with placing the machine must also become a permanent guardian of it, till his death or the machine's destruction. Never leaving the place where the Machine is by any route that could lead back, and never entering any route to the Machine where he might be followed. This live-in operative is set with an implant in the back of his head. The Implant, should the Chiss be captured, will erase all memories connected to the Machine and the planet the Machine is placed on. For instance, if the live-in operative on Csilla was captured, he would have no recollection of the slightest detail of his capitol planet.

('The Machine' is not a reference to CBS's Person of Interest 'The Machine' nor is this based around it. Rather, 'The Machine' is the only name I could think of for the command unit that would 'control' the virus. The Machine must be ICly placed)
