I'm Pheo.
I will be your handler for the time being.

As most of you know I am in the process of negotiating a merger between Insurgency and GALAF. I have begun talking to Aberforth about the basics of combining the factions. My main goal is to build on his faction and add to what he's trying to do, while still maintaining the unique anatomy GALAF has adopted.

**To clarify, I am acting as a temporary FL until the negotiations are done. Expect Aberforth to be your FL by the end of this. I am simply an arbiter and negotiator for GALAF until the Merge is complete.**

Currently, I'm trying to negotiate and place us as some form of Intelligence Division. We can still make up the main force of a rebel insurgency, but intelligence, secrecy, and Espionage, when done right, can make us just as powerful as main factions. My secondary goal is to make sure when/if this merger is completed we have an abundance of missions and activities for our existing members. Obviously no-one wants to be part of a faction that has no story or drive to it. To that extent, I'll be discussing with Aberforth (time permitting) how he will be handling missions and whether I can help in any way. Below is what I have in mind for the future of GALAF. Please leave any thoughts and suggestions below, any constructive ideas will be a great help in this time of transition.

Missions/Faction Activities

My overall goal for missions is simple. Have small, tight-knight and inclusive dynamic missions that place certain characters in situations that they will excel in. Overarching story arcs would be divided into bite sized missions, probably working with about 4 members, to complete a series of tasks in a sandbox manner (meaning you can achieve the goals by any means). Since we are a smaller faction, it would be easy for members to PM the FLs with mission ideas that can be incorporated into story arcs and the sort. Another big thing is, assuming Aberforth agrees with me, the Story Arcs will not continue until the threads are completed. Specific rules about replacing PC's will be discussed at a later time, but if you are gonna sign up for a mission, please see it through. And maybe we can get a slice of that PvP action while we are at it.

Intelligence Division

As I already mentioned, I am trying to put us in a position where we can maintain our autonomy while still furthering Insurgency's faction goals. And one way to achieve that is for those of us who prefer to be the daggers in the shadows to become those daggers. Literally. As I mentioned before, espionage when done correctly can be very useful and crippling for our enemies. Know that I am trying to negotiate ways for this to work for any who are interested.

Summary

I'll start by saying absolutely NOTHING is set in stone right now. This negotiation could end in a "Sorry, but our Factions just aren't compatible". If that occurs, I'll do my best to run GALAF with any help I get. At worst, we will disband. But it looks like Aberforth is open to the idea and it will just take time to complete the finite details and get the ball rolling. In the meantime, just thread up. Do your thing, and know I appreciate your patience. This faction was near completely inactive, and I don't want to let it go stagnant, I will be doing everything and anything I can to keep the vision Outlander had alive, and give our members the reasons to stick around they want and need. Bear with me, guys and gals, this will be a new leaf for our Faction. I will continue to update this thread with the information I'm given.

I will be honest, this doesn't seem like much of a merger. A small sub-faction within an already small faction doesn't really serve to bring anyone closer together. Now, IC it would make sense (and good story telling) for there to be an amount of tension as the groups merge into one body, but due to the nature of Forum RP it either makes sense for the groups to come together and be one autonomous group or keep two entirely separate groups.

My opinion is that the best chance for any Rebel group to have a meaningful impact on the war/story is to have everyone under the same roof with as little division as possible. I understand the desire to pick up the reigns and give it a go. I, myself put aside plans to start a Rebel faction to throw in with Abe in an effort to create a site wide Rebel Faction. I could have pushed forward with a couple of people who had shown interest and we likely would have had fun, but I knew it was highly unlikely to see it have any real impact on the story of the site with that amount of people.

Just a clarification, because I do see the confusion. I am only taking temporary control until this merger is either completed or blown to spacedust. If it does end up happening, we will be under Aberforth, not me. I'm an okay leader and all, but he is in the end the one saving GALAF from imploding should he accept. I just want to make GALAF great again (Yeah, I went there). I'm simply highlighting what steps I will be taking and what I will be discussing, remaining transparent so all members can see how the merger is going if they are interested.

If the Merge DOESN'T happen, I'll try to steer GALAF in the right direction. In that case I'll put myself forward as a FL candidate, but it would be an open vote where anyone who wishes to take the reigns can step forward and state their case.

GALAF can either merge or be archived, you do realize that, don't you? With the small amount of votes in favor of keeping it independent and the low level of activity a faction would normally be archived. Your merger is about giving an IC reason for the characters to join the insurgency instead.

If the merge doesn't happen.. GALAF will most likely just be archived.

Sorry mate, certainly didn't mean to take a tone. I appreciate the enthusiasm, I was just floored that you decided you were in charge and that you would lead some mysterious negotiations to merge OR go against the soundly 'merge' vote.

I supposed I should have realized that what might seem obvious to me isn't to others. Let me recommend from my experience the conversation go like this:

Lets tag @Aberforth and say: hey we want to merge with Insurgent. Bring us all in at the base level except our AFLs, who if they would like, should be second tier. And then Aberforth can add everyone to the roster and negotiate with them. Abe it would be really cool if you made a PM with the GALAF ALFs (and I think @Aurius Pheonix because he shows initiative and interest) to work out a cool story about how to merge IC.

@Dmitri if, in your responsibility and wisdom as the admin who oversees indie factions, you would like to recognize the decision as 'merge' and archive the write-up, you'll have no arguments for me.

Both Gandalf and Guardian accepted merge with Insurgency. Once I see the updated Insurgency page I'll approve the faction
