“Obi-Wan had never addressed telekinesis with me. It was likely that I wasn't strong enough to begin training in such an advanced field of study. That didn't mean I shouldn't try.”
― Luke Skywalker in his personal writings

Fiach was the studious type. Which, when translated into her ability to learn and use the teachings of the Knights and Masters of the Jedi Order, she excelled at the theory based work and found the practical application a little more challenging.

Yes, things were getting better, especially since she’d begun to meditate regularly and take on board literally the advice to trust in the Force. Regardless, she never passed up the chance to practice and if a study partner was keen to work with her, she jumped at the chance.

So she was in an empty training room. The sunlight streamed through a window, illuminating the motes of dust as it did. All around her was something she usually abhorred…a mess.

For she’d strewn items of various shapes, sizes and weights around the room. She even had a couple of blindfolds, to make things even more interesting should they really wish to stretch their abilities.

Surveying the scene with a nod, she smiled and removed her cloak, before folding it and placing it neatly on a bench, before waiting for her fellow Padawan to arrive.

Giran strolled towards the practice room in surprisingly good spirits. His usual anxiety was of course still there but he'd managed to put it to the back of his mind for now. He was going to become stronger and who better to help him do that than Fiach. She was of course the obvious choice. Single minded, driven and highly intelligent if anyone could help Giran achieve his goals it'd be her.

He swung open the door to a room that a tornado must have just swept through. On and ends were strewn all over the place seemingly at random and I'm the middle of the carnage sat Fiach as serene as the dawn.
"Ah, I see you've taken the anarchist route to practice." Giran laughed taking of his own cloak "how very unlike you, we could have just thrown a ball around or something."

Seeing there was no where to hang his cloak up he simply dropped it on the floor. The place couldn't look any more cluttered. He then sat down opposite Fiach with his legs crossed and put on a serious face. Giran found that she responded best to serious.
"Where shall we begin Fiach? This is the bit of being a jedi I'm probably best at funnily enough. I imagine you've already got a much better grasp of it all than myself, given how well you excel in everything else so I'll let you take the lead teacher." He said as he smiled, careful not to sound even remotely sarcastic.

Fiach motioned for Giran to join her, as she sat cross-legged on the floor. “I wanted to step up from the mundane,” she explained. “Picking up a piece of fruit and passing it from one to another works, but I wanted to stretch our abilities. Hence…” she opened up her arms expansively, as if to demonstrate her point.

“So, I have come up with a lesson plan of sorts. The first test is to see how many items you can levitate at once. Then, try the same thing but with a distraction.” She picked up a container to her left and showed the contents…small rubber balls. “Having these thrown at you won’t hurt but will provide the disruption to our concentration.”

Then she picked up a blindfold. “Then, let’s see how successful we are when the item is no longer visible. And finally, we should look to use the Force to locate an object behind us and lift it without ever having eye contact.”

She smiled broadly. “I hope that makes sense and I also hope you don’t have another lesson soon, as this could take quite a while.”

"wait, wait, wait I get to throw things at you and you won't say anything about it? This is going to be more fun than I thought." Giran grinned at her.

"Ok I'll go first" he said plopping down opposite her. He was very good at handling multiple objects at once. He'd recently had to do so on Vardos to save himself and a fellow jedi from burning debris. Giran's real block was weight. Giran could lift only as much as he felt his body could push against. His master had said it was his own mind putting limitations on the force; that he hard not truly accepted that all things are possible through the force. Of course he'd seen others lift incredible weights but he just couldn't.

Giran looked around the room. There was enough smaller objects in here to make him look impressive. He took hold of three smaller dumbbells, both their cloaks and took the balls from the container and made them juggle in front of Fiach.

It took alot of concentration to keep all three sets of items working independently but he'd had some practice. He smiled at his partner.
"Not... Bad eh... I've got fairly good... Control." Giran muttered to her trying to keep up his concentration.

Fiach’s left eyebrow raised fractionally. “That’s the plan,” she said, wondering why Giran thought the idea humorous and the approach fun. “And please, you go first.”

Fiach sat perfectly still. The early activity was not to be opposed and so she did not want to do anything to disturb Giran’s concentration. Jedi Masters could levitate objects mid-spar, but Fiach knew her own limitations.

As he levitated the items and then began to effectively juggle them with the Force, Fiach’s right eyebrow lifted for a short while. “I am truly impressed,” she said. “You seem to have the edge on me.”

Fiach believed that the use of the Force was linked to faith and trust. If you believed the Force would not let you down and relied on it, it would deliver. Always. Yet the mind may set out to do just that, but conscious thought often took control — either introducing doubt or limitations.

Looking to emulate Giran, she began to lift one item at a time. The choice was random and she had no concept of weight being an issue. For her, the number she could control was her mental barrier.

Once she’d levitated six items — which was her previous best, she fixed her eye on Giran’s cloak, to make it the seventh. Aware this would be a new personal best, he confidence began to erode and the cloak was only a few centimetres off the ground before all items fell to earth.

She took a deep breath and sighed audibly. Shaking her head, she muttered, “Do or do not. Trust in the Force.”

“OK,”
she said, out loud this time. “Your turn, and are you ready for some distraction?”
