The Road to Redemption (Joshua Drake's Training)

After receiving word from the Jedi Council, that Josh could train as a Jedi, he was happy. He was grateful of them for giving him a second chance. Josh left the Council Chambers and entered one of the many training rooms in the Great Temple of Ossus. He sat down, Indian style, and began to meditate. As he meditate he began to slowly lift off the ground, his robes hanging freely. He was awaiting his new Master.

Josh wanted to take a different approach for having a second chance. He didn't want to be aggressive in combat. He wanted to be passive, and only use combat as a last resort. Therefore, Josh thought he would train towards becoming a Jedi Consular, and a Diplomat for the Council. Or maybe a Jedi Sentinel and be a Watchman for the Jedi. As he meditated, he could feel the presence of his new Master approaching.

((so you learned KABOOM force powers from my assassin, and now your going to learn passive force powers from my jedi that uses KABOOM force techniques. Absolutely hilarious.))

Niva entered her private training hall to find Josh already there. "Sorry I'm late, I had to finish up the paperwork to transfer you under my care. Now I need to know what you know and what you want to learn."

 

[JMocks]

[What?]

Josh broke the trance and landed on his feet. He turned to meet Niva. He smiled as she spoke. What did he want to learn first? He paced a little back and forth. He wanted to learn a new lightsaber form. One that would be a passive style, but could prove deadly on the offensive. He then had what he was looking for.

"I wish to learn the lightsaber for, Niman. I understand its a balance between the first five forms. And I think it'll suit my new style of becoming a Jedi," Josh said as he took his robe off, using the force to hang it up on the far wall.

 

[Keinushi]

"Ah niman." Niva smiled. "My own technique, and in my opinion the most deadly of all the forms. Niman relies on both the users knowledge of all the forms, and the users creativity as well. To practice Niman you must learn all other techniques first, and only then can you fully control Niman. What form do you know already? I assume you were taught one at the Bogan temple?"

 

[JMocks]

"I was taught two forms while with the Bogan, Master," Josh said as he started to pace back and forth then stopped, "or would you prefer Mistress? Anyways. I was taught the basic form, Shii-Cho, and then I was taught Juyo by personal preference. I was also taught the force powers, Force Sight, Force Cloak, and Telekinesis," Josh said as he showcased his Telekinesis power by lifting up a datapad.

 

[Keinushi]

"Niva will be fine." Niva smiled. "You only need address me as master when we are in the presence of other jedi. So you at least have the two extreme forms down. However Niman also contains elements from the more acrobatic forms. So we'll start out today with some aerial movements. I want you to try running up that wall and doing a triple backflip off of it."

 

[JMocks]

"Triple backflip? Triple? Great," Josh said as he turned to face one of the four walls. He concentrated, standing completely still. He then took off in a complete sprint towards the wall. When Josh was three feet from the wall, he jump, landing with his right foot on the wall, catapulting himself backwards. Josh completed two backflips. He looked back at Niva, then completed the same steps. He once again only completed two backflips before touching the cement floor of the Temple. "What am I doing wrong, Niva," Josh said making his way over towards her, "I physically can't do a triple backflip. And I haven't learned anything force wise that could help me complete the feat."

 

[Keinushi]

"It's quite simple really." Niva replied. "Especially if you remember that anything is possible through the force."

Niva ran at the same wall, her long robe billowing around her as she ran. As she leapt she used the force to augment her legs, springing ten feet up onto the wall, there she used her first foot to get traction and propel her another 5 feet. Only then did she kick off with her left foot. The arc of her jump brought her back towards the center of the room. As she fell she curled into a ball, flipping backwards no less than 5 times. She stuck the landing perfectly and looked over at the apprentice. "Your turn."

 

[JMocks]

"Gotcha."

Josh turned and faced the wall again. He concentrated. He let the force flow through him. He took off again in a sprint towards the wall. Using the force he leapt ten feet up the wall, the kicked back from the wall, pushing him out at least five feet. He then began the backflip process, tucking into a ball to help spin faster. Josh landed on his feet, back straight. He counted four backflips. But didn't know officially. He lost count due to the twirling. He looked back towards Niva and smiled at her.

"How's that?"

 

[Keinushi]

"I'm sure any judge would give you a 9." Niva commented lazily. "Now do it with a training blade in your hand."

Niva pulled a training blade off a rack using the force and hovered it in front of Josh.

((remember, since your on probation, you don't have your old bogan blade anymore.))

 

[JMocks]

"Okay."

Josh took the training blade out the air. He then readied himself again. Once again he took off in a sprint towards the wall. Using the force like last time, he jumped ten feet in the air, and pushed off the wall. He kept his blade hand out, then tucked into the ball once again. He then brought his blade hand in, and kept his right arm firm so they blade wouldn't wobble.

He then proceeded to do three backflips. He landed, back straight, eyes straight. Same position as his starting position. He looked at the blade he was holding for a bit. Then turned and walked back towards Niva.

"How was that?"

 

[Keinushi]

"Good." Niva smiled. "Now I want you to jump from one side of the room to the other without touching the ground. Like so."

Niva's cloak suddenly fell from her shoulders, revealing a leather vest and combat robes underneath. She ran at the wall, running up half of its 20 meter length. Her body seeming to defy gravity itself. She then crouched and sprung to the opposite side. The force twirled around her, filling the room with her excited presence, her sheer joy at using so much of her power.

She spun in the air and landed on the opposite wall feet first. From there she crouched and sprung again, flipping to land right in front of her padawan. Breathing only slightly hard she walked to her cloak and picked it up, pulling her arms through each sleeve and shrugging it onto her shoulders.

"Don't be surprised if you don't get it on the first try." Niva smiled, her face flushed. "It took me more than once to do it right."

 

[JMocks]

"You know Niva. It probably would be best if you just hung your robe up. One, saves it from getting dirty. Two, keeps you from taking it off and on. Just a suggestion."

Josh smiled at her and prepared his self. He concentrated everything he had. Once again, he sprinted for the wall. He jumped ten feet up again, and crouched against the wall. As he did, it felt like time itself slowed down. Almost even like it stopped. He then used everything he had and sprung off the wall. Josh flew across the room.

About halfway through Josh could feel his body dropping. He tried to remain concentrated. Halfway past the midway point of the room, Josh dropped down on his feet. He was so close. But it felt so far. He scratched the back of his neck. He then turned and face Niva. He blushed. But she said it wasn't likely he'd get it on the first try. So he wasn't that embarrassed.

"I know I know. Again."

Josh stopped next to Niva and stood still for a minute. Collecting everything he could. He concentrated hard on the force. He freed his mind. He eyes slowly opened. He was a determined man. He ran at full pace again towards the wall. He jumped ten feet up the wall and crouched in again. This time, he put everything he had into the force he was going to propel with.

When Josh pushed off the wall, he felt the durasteel push in a bit. He flew across the room. Before he could blink Josh was halfway across the room. He flipped in the air, his feet making contact with the wall. He crouched again and sprung off the wall. He put everything he had in it. He then did another flip and landed right next to Niva. Sweat was coming from his face.

Mentally he was tired. But physically, he was not. He knew his force strength/endurance wasn't up to par. But he was willing to train heavily in every aspect. He wiped some sweat from his forehead with his right forearm. He turned and looked at Niva. He smiled.

"I hope that was good enough. Otherwise, we might have to try again later."

 

[Keinushi]

"I would advise making this part of your daily regimen." Niva smiled. "However, your power appears to be low, so for the rest of the day I advise you go ahead and just spar with the other padawans in the main training hall, I will meet you here at 0900 tomorrow morning."

Niva turned and began to walk away, but she suddenly turned to look at the apprentice. "Oh, and I wear the cloak because of how cold it is in here."

 

[JMocks]

"How are you cold? I feel absolutely fine. And I'll see you bright and early tomorrow."

Josh used the force to bring his robe back to him. It was all black, so he'd definitely stand out in the crowd here at Ossus. Josh did what she suggested and made his way towards the main training hall. When he arrived, there was a decent crowd of people there already sparring. As he got closer, his presence became more aware. People were starting to look back at him, and whisper. Then in the middle of the room, a voice could be heard. He was calling somebody out. More specifically, he was calling Josh out.

"Where's that Bogan? I know he's here!"

Josh pushed forward through the crowd. He could hear the whispers. When some of them made contact with him they jumped. He didn't know what they were scared for. Yes he was a Bogan before. But now he was a Jedi Padawan. Just like them. Once he made his way through the crowd, a tall human, about 6'2" in height was standing across the circle that had formed for ultimately, a fight. Once Josh made eye contact with the man, he spoke.

"I see no Bogan here. Just Jedi."

"You call yourself a Jedi, Bogan? You're a disgrace to the Bogan and the Jedi."

"On the contrary friend. I'm am a disgrace to myself for what I've done in my past. I'm seen a traitor in the eyes of the Bogan. And a lost soul just trying to do right in the eyes of the Jedi."

"I'm not here to talk, Bogan. I'm here to fight."

"What for? To see who has the bigger ego? Jedi don't go looking for fights. Nor do they start them. They only fight, when there is no other way."

"Oh look at you. Trying to act like a Jedi. You know nothing about the Jedi. What it takes to be one."

"I know the road to becoming a Jedi isn't easy. And that the life of one is even harder. But if I wasn't willing to make those sacrifices, I wouldn't be here."

The guy started to walk towards Josh. He kept a clam head. This would be his first self test. Usually, he would of already engaged the man in combat. But like he said before, the Jedi rely on combat when there is no other way to resolve a dispute. The man was in Josh's face. Looking down on him.

"You're nothing but Bogan scum. You'll never be a Jedi."

Once the man finished, he spit in Josh's face. He kept his cool. Using his right forearm he wiped the spit from his face. Josh never ran from a fight, but this time, he was. Josh turned and began to walk through the crowd. As he was walking through the crowd he got turned around by the man, and felt the man's right fist make contact with his face.

Josh stumbled back a bit. Once he got his footing, he took his stance. The man wanted to fight, and Josh wasn't going to back down. What's done is done. Josh had the speed advantage as the man was a big guy. Josh was shorter and lighter. He inched his way towards the man, fists up.

As Josh got closer and closer, the man got more anxious. He swung a heavy right hook at Josh, heading straight for his face. Josh forseen this attack coming, and dogged it, going under the mans hook, and throwing a straight of his own. He used the force to amplify his power, and punched the man straight in his gut.

Once the punch made contact, solid contact, the man moved back a bit due to the force behind the punch, and was lurched over. He then fell to the ground. Josh stood there for a minute. He then turned and walked away. As he was walking through the crowd someone stopped him.

"You cheated."

"I didn't cheat. This was far from a sparring match. I was attacked. I ended the fight."

Josh walked out of the main training hall and made his way outside the Temple. He made his way towards the garden area. He sat down and began to meditate. He then began to think about Sheena, the slave girl back on Ando Prime. He missed her. But he knew it was against the Jedi way to be romantically involved with someone. After meditating, Josh made his way to the sleeping chambers. He slid into the bed, and feel asleep within no time.

As you have not ended it with a spot I can speak, i can't really do anything but set tomorrows scene.))

Niva arrived at her early time as usual. Nuka had prided herself as always beeing in the training room for her padawans to talk to, Niva was not so devoted, but she did come in before the other masters did. The large room and thick steel walls were as cold as ever. She did some warm ups to prepare herself. Eventually getting to the point where she need to shed her cloak as she warmed up. But as she slowed down she pulled it around herself again.

 

[JMocks]

Josh made his way through the crowd of people in the temple with haste. He didn't want to be late. Especially on the second day of training. He got closer and closer to the training room. He was getting anxious. He was glad the Jedi allowed him to train in their ways. If the Jedi were to oppose him, he didn't know what he'd do. He probably would of been killed by the Bogan for desertion.

As he entered the room, Niva was already there. He could see she was warming up as she had some sweat drops on her brow. "Mind if I do my own warmups," he questioned as his took off his cloak and hung it up. He did a couple of stretches to get his legs and arms loosened. "Alright. I'm ready," he said with a smile.

 

[Keinushi]

"Are you not going to reattempt to jump from one side of the room to the other?" Niva asked, her eyebrow raised.

 

[JMocks]

Josh squinted his eyes. "I see," he said as he prepared himself. "I'm gonna be going wall to wall," he said with a laugh.

He took to the center of the room and concentrated. Then like last time, he ran towards the wall, jumped ten feet up it, crouched against the wall, and sprung towards the other wall. Before reaching the other wall he flipped, and sprung back, landing right next to Niva.

"And wa-la," he said with a bow.

"Good. Now, what would you like to learn today?" Niva asked, a pleased expression on her face.
