It was no kept secret that the Vahla Sith, Vatari Vasch, didn't play well with others. It wasn't that she tried to kill everyone that crossed her path or she watched others with hunger in her eyes; she just didn't fit well in society. Since the destruction of her tribe and family, she had traversed through the galaxy as a loner, keeping to herself and sleeping in the shadows. When interaction was required, it was on the basis of sating the hunger inside her. She was no mere monster, but a cannibal that did what was required to survive.

When she arrived in Sith space, floating unconscious in a shuttle as it drifted around Korriban, she had been 'rescued' and brought to a warship for examination. Which didn't end well for the doctor. Suddenly, she found herself on Coruscant where a Sith Master took her as an Apprentice, to train her in the ways of the Sith. Vatari knew the Darkside, she was Vahla. Vatari knew the Force, it was a birthright granted to her species by the Goddess Vahl. But she was unpolished and rough around the edges. Despite her training, her Master wanted her to learn to work with others, thus the reason she signed up for the mission.

Aboard the warship that was hovering around the planet below, Vatari stared out into the cold and unforgiving world of space. Her mind was wandering on the mission rather than focusing on the mission itself. She was unsure why they were dispatched to investigate an outpost that suddenly went silent. They were probably all dead, their flesh tainted beyond consumption; yet her she was doing what was commanded of her. However, she wasn't sent alone but with a few others, Sith she didn't know and trust.

"Acolyte Vasch," a voice behind her spoke breaking her from the spell of daydreaming. "The shuttle is ready and the others are in the hanger bay waiting your arrival."

A predatory hiss was the only response she gave, turning from the landscape outside the viewport and headed down to the docking bay. It was time to begin the investigation and see what all the growing concerns where.

Mariett had killed the student that would have gone here in her stead. Two weeks beforehand. Lightsaber through the trachea. The student's body was still buried beneath the sands of Korriban, all traces of Mariett's involvement removed. The arid sands of Korriban tended to mummify corpses rather than rot them. Mariett had to be thorough when she hid the body. Pulverized the teeth, removed fingertips. The student was just another corpse in Korriban's desert. The student had few connections. Few friends. Anyone who noticed didn't care.

So here Mariett sat in the cargo hold, eyeballing the very saber she used to kill the student with. Inside, she was excited. Intrigued. The opportunity in this mission was vast. Ripe for the taking. A knot formed in her stomach. Pre-mission jitters. She did jumping jacks and sprints when she got jittery like that. She had to resist the urge to do a lap around the hangar.

She tossed her light saber in the air and caught it. She had no idea who these people were. They were blank slates in her mind. Sith who had yet to earn their place. Stories that had yet to be told. Eulogies yet to be given. Men and women to be forgotten, as all beings eventually were. They had yet to wrong her, but she knew how much they hated her. The feeling wasn't mutual.

The opposite of love isn't hatred. It's apathy. Unfamiliarity. Mariett had no attachment to anyone there. If trust changed, it changed. If she made a friend, she's have a colleague. If she made an enemy, she'd have s new goal to strive for. Either benefited Mariett.

So she quietly waited for the 'all aboard' to be called on the shuttle. And resisted the urge to do a lap around the hangar.

As he walked to the armory of the frigate, Isaac ran the details of the mission through his head again. The briefing had been short and to the point. Alongside a trio of Sith, Isaac and a squad of troopers were being deployed to a recently discovered (and mysteriously silent) Chiss outpost that was located on one of the many fragments of the formerly-existent Planet of Dis. Ordinarily, three Sith would be more than enough for a job like this, however, the unusual circumstances warranted the extra support. Officially, it was because Chiss maser weapons, called charrics, had unique kinetic properties that tended to disarm anyone attempting to deflect their shots with a lightsaber, thus the need for the extra firepower. Unofficially, well, even Isaac had heard the stories. The destruction of the planet made that particular possibility a very unlikely one, but in the event it actually happened, the troopers would be there to gun down any undead.

Arriving at the armory, Isaac was given his usual kit by the quartermaster, with one distinct difference: his armor no longer had a red stripe on it. While his promotion to Private had happened a while ago, this would be the first time Isaac went on a mission with the new rank, and the Trooper was still basking in the sense of accomplishment the promotion has given him. Being a Private also meant he could finally be officially considered a Strike Trooper, and had the armor insignia to show it. Holstering his pistol at his side, Isaac slung his light repeater across his back and made his way to the hangar bay. He arrived just as the rest of the Troopers did. Most of the other members of the squad were Recruits. An officer apparently hadn't been assigned, however, seeing that one of the Sith was a Crusader, it wasn't needed. Giving a curt nod to the Sith that was already there, Isaac and the rest of the Troopers strapped into their seats and waited for the others to arrive.

Mitsuki planned to be the first to arrive, but it would appear that she was beaten by the two other acolytes. How embarrassing. In any event she accepted full responsibility for her inferiors, though she did not expect the guys with guns to show up. The ecstatic sorceress clapped her hands in pure glee when she walked into the room to greet her comrades. It would seem she was a little under dressed for the occasion, the boys wearing a nice uniform, while little old Mitsuki was stuck with this boring robe. It was tradition as she recalled, but still she couldn't shake the feeling of being grandstanded by the Empresses' finest.

Taking out a holopad with the mission details from within her robe, she handed the piece of technology to one of the soldier boys, the one that looked the most important, and sat down on a nearby shipping container. Crossing her legs and taking in a deep breath, she felt it was time for introductions. Yes, the Chiss ascendancy was in peril, but she would prefer to do things right or not do them at all.

"Hello, my name is Mitsuki Al Mystereo and I'll be leading you band of misfits - a pleasure meeting you." Mitsuki said, outstretching a hand towards the other acolytes. "With my experience and guidance we're going to save the galaxy. Before my army friend gives us the run down - any questions?"

(Anyone still doing this?)
Mariett sat and eyeballed her lightsabers before a young, blonde woman walked over."Hello, my name is Mitsuki Al Mystereo and I'll be leading you band of misfits - a pleasure meeting you. With my experience and guidance we're going to save the galaxy. Before my army friend gives us the run down - any questions?" She looked at the other acolytes and said, "I'm sure we've all read the briefing. What exactly should we expect? Any additional surprises? Ulterior motives?" She took a look at the other people around her. The people she'd be fighting to keep alive and vice versa... nominally. She hadn't bothered introducing herself. If she Mariett felt the need to do so, the information would come out. And she expected the same of her colleagues. Begrudging silence. Respectful. Studious. Still, there were some interesting characters.

So far, she only saw a trooper and a particularly jumpy Sith. The latter had already introduced herself. Mariett looked at the man, presumably Mitsuki's army friend, and waited for him to give the squad the run-down.
