The Sapphire Hand

100px-Blue_Handprint.JPG

Main Goal:

The Sapphire Hand is a faction made up of thieves that use their talents solely to benefit mostly themselves and whoever is in the faction. But in the faction, the members that join are taught the value of honor. Each member that is accepted is considered a family member and is carefully looked after. They value each other’s lives and take care of each other on dangerous missions. They steal from anyone that has promising valuables such as weapons/jewels/ancient artifacts and anything else that has value. They’ll steal from the Hutts, the Republic, and anyone else that has something they want/need. But the main focus of the Faction, is to show people the true value of wealth (described further in the history section.)

Code of Honor:

The code of honor is made up from only THREE rules that the Master Thief has set forth for his faction members. The Code of Honor is the following;

1. Never steal from the poor or a faction member
2. Never kill while on a mission/training unless it is in retaliation
3. Never allow the poor to go unprotected

Base of Operations and Equipment/Ships:

The Sapphire hand makes Nar Shaddaa their main target for their planned thefts. It's a chaotic planet that has plenty of people with riches and information, things that the Sapphires find very valuable. It is also a great place to lay low and stay hidden in the crowds, making it easier for them to either escape on a job or get from one place to another without drawing attention or being followed.

Being on Nar Shaddaa for most of their missions, The Sapphires do not posses a large amount of ship. They have just enough to get from one place to another and to make getaways. They use their personal ships and ships they have stolen for the Faction members to use. One of these ships being used is Salem's Personal craft, The Sparrow's Edge.

Current number of Ships: 5

History:

There is a saying that goes, “You never know what you have till it’s gone,” and for the most part, it’s true. The Sapphires were formed by that very sentence. A single man watched as rich politicians, performers, celebrities and factions took wealth for granted. All poor people around them withered up and died as the rich not only ignored the dieing, but they carelessly spent their riches on worthless materials and entertainment. With the thought “You never know what you have till it’s gone,” the man decided to teach these selfish people a lesson. He stole their wealth, their expensive jewelry and their ships and gave it to the sick, the dieing, and the poor so that they would have a chance to survive in the galaxy. As a consequence, most of the rich people grew angry and put bounties on the man’s head, making him a wanted man. Others finally understood, and not only became wiser with their riches, but spread some of it to the ones that needed it most. Time went on, and this man recruited more allies to help him make bigger steals.

Faction Ranks:

Master thief
V
Shadowstep
V
Thief
V
Criminal
V
Rookie

1. Rookie -Bottom of the food chain. All members of the faction start out here. The duties of a rookie are as follows; a) They answer/obey the commands of a Criminal, b) Improve their skills by lone thieving c) Required to go through a series of stealth/thieving training and a background check. Rookies often are promoted by the proficiency they show in completing a Criminal’s orders.

2. Criminal -A step up from Rookie, a Criminal’s main focus is to train a Rookie in the arts of thievery and stealth. Criminals occasionally train the same Rookie for several months, maybe even years depending on the skill of the Rookie. Think of this as a Criminal being a Jedi and a Rookie being a Padawan. They will have that same kind of bond but will be able to train more than one Rookie. Therefore, the duties are as follows; a) They answer/obey the commands of a Shadowstep, b) They are responsible for the training of Rookies

3. Thief -The Thieves are one of the most important members of the faction. They complete thieving missions given to them by the Master Thief and the Shadowsteps. They are expected to be very skilled and smart when it comes to stealing something that the Master Thief wants. Consider them the “tip of the spear,“ because they are the ones that do most of the important missions that involve stealing. Therefore, duties of the Thief are as follows; a) Answer/obey the command of Shadowsteps, b) Go on missions to steal certain objects of interest

4. Shadowstep -The elite members of the faction. There can only be three Shadowsteps. They are the top skilled thieves in the faction and are expected very highly of when it comes to performing/giving out missions. Sometimes, a Shadowstep will accompany Thieves on one of their missions. Other times, Shadowsteps are sent out to do top secret mission which would require all three of them to complete. They also help the Master Thief come up with ways/strategies to stealing a certain target. So, the duties of the Shadowsteps are as follows; a) Answer/obey the commands of the Master thief, b) Aid the Master Thief in making plans for missions, c) Inspect the training of a Rookie at least once, d) Complete top secret missions for Master Thief

5. Master Thief -The creator and leader of the faction. Every member of the faction, no matter what rank, obeys his commands. He occasionally will go on missions with his Shadowsteps, and even inspect Thieves, Criminals, and Rookies while they are performing their duties. One of the main things the Master Thief does is promote/demote a member to a different rank. Only he has the power to do so. Therefore, duties of Master Thief are as follows; a) Make mission plans for all ranks, b) Promote/demote any desired member at any time

I see no resemblance to Robin Hood at all.

Really? Good, cause that wasn't what I was shooting for lol. The Faction mainly keeps everything they get, only slightly giving some of their steals to the poor if they need it. Its kind of a priority thing. Faction members come first, poor people second. Robin hood was a little different, but yeah I guess this is somewhat similar??

Dragon and Dark Cloud, it would be great to have yall join. I don't have any members yet, so I'll place you two as high ranks/give you whichever rank you want if you do join up.

Everything about protection of the poor rang very clearly of either the Grey Fox or Robin Hood. In any case, I'll be joining. Would you mind if I took a Shadowstep rank? Without any boost in power, I'd also like to advise the Master Thief. Not as a second-in-command or anything, but... a hand. Or a foot. Whichever you prefer.

Absolutely. Since you are the first, you are more than welcome to apply for Shadowstep. Go ahead and post your application and all that good stuff so I can get to everything easy, and I'll take a look at your character's skills, history, all that stuff.

Dragon and Dark Cloud, if you decide you want to join go ahead and post an app too and I'll get yall some good ranks.

I might need awhile. I don't like forcing myself to make characters, but I should be able to get it up today.

So this faction doesn't have a base of operations?

The Sapphire Hand will do most of their jobs around Nar Shaddaa. I suppose every once in a while we will maybe go to different planets, but I would like to focus the Sapphire's attention on Nar Shaddaa. So I guess that would maybe suffice as a base of operations??

Are there NPCs that are part of the Sapphire Hand? Also, what about ships: is the size of the Hand's fleet based on spoils or personal member ownership or what?

No don't have any NPCs. Should I make some? Not entirely sure about the fleet. It won't be very large, and we won't be doing very many missions off of Nar Shaddaa so we don't need alot of ships. But yes, we will be getting some ships from our spoils from time to time.

You don't need NPCs. You just didn't specify the manpower behind this indy faction, so I was uncertain.

For the fleet size, ok it's not very big, but it would be nice to have a more concrete number. If it's based on spoils, then say so. If it's based on personal member ownership, then it should be said.

Please clarify on these two points in your opening post (as well as adding info about your base of operations).

Sure thing.

EDIT------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Done. Please give me your opinion if it is too many or too less a number of ships.
