The Senate and People of Shola

Current Roster

@Braden Drake - Consul - FL

Brief History
The Shola republic is a well-established government who have been ruling over Shola for the past nine centuries. It initially started in the mild climate of central Shola before slowly expanding to encompass the entirety of the planet. They have kept to themselves during both the current and previous war between the Sith and Jedi, instead preferring to stay neutral and trade with all parties. Including the Hutts and the Mandalorian's.

With the rise of the recent Consul Titus Trajanus and the assassination of his Co-Consul he has been granted the title of Dictator until the government can stabilize itself again.

Intent

The intent of the SPOS is to create a fun faction based off the Ancient Roman to allow all you people to live out your dreams as Legionnaires and Senators. I am also looking to introduce an interesting mechanic to the faction which would allow voting on aspects on how the faction works and moves forward.

This is a place for people who enjoyed the Republic debates from before the time skip to join back in. The SPOS is neutral and people can play light or dark side characters, the only rule is that you push the faction forward.

Special Mechanics

The main unique mechanic to the SPOS is the Senate itself, there are currently 500 sitting senators. On a standard Vote the senators would split evenly at 250 for each decision, the role of the PC characters is to sway the 500 senators to one motion or the other, by using the below mechanics.

There are three parts to the vote mechanic I want to introduce.

The first and most simple is the vote on faction goals. Before any mission pack will be published there will be a vote, it can either be IC or OCC depending on people's preference. Which will decide the main course of that mission pack. So, it could be Aggressive Vs Trade, Resource Gathering Vs Archaeological Findings or Internal Vs External policies.

The second part of the mechanics is Favor/Influence, as a standard each member will start with 10 Favor/Influence this is their PC's influence in the senate and refers to the number of NPC Senators that would back their proposal in the senate. For each mission completed depending on the outcome a PC will be awarded Influence which means they have more NPC's backing them for their opinions.

The third part refers to the special ranks below which can be voted in. After the first set of missions securing Shola solely for the PC based Republic, the Roles of Quaestor, Praetor and Aedile will come up for vote. Each PC can put themselves forward for one role only and cannot vote in that election. Votes will be held every three months real time, or when that PC dies.

A secondary mechanic is the Shola's belief system. They do not believe in the force but in a Pantheon of gods, who's grace is bestowed upon select individuals granting them the power of the force. Some of the most powerful users of the force are claimed to be Demi-Gods, decedents of the Gods themselves.

Roles & Ranks

Senator
A member of the landed class of citizens on Shola, senatorial seats usually run in families, though there is often two or three members of the family who are senators if the family is powerful enough. The Censors decide if new members are needed or old ones removed, there is currently a mummer in the backrooms that the senate class will be increased.

All PC Characters from Shola will be Senators and titled in that way unless they hold one of the honorific titles.

QuaestorAedilePraetor
Are usually young men pipped for greatness, they usually are second-in-command to more established generals. They are also tasked with supervising all games and tournaments in the three great cities of Shola to keep the general populace happy, commanding the local garrisons.

Members who are voted Quaestor will gain a further 10 Favor/Influence during their time in office.
The heads of the administrative departments of the SPOS, they lead vast teams who keep the Republic moving forward. They also have the responsibility of keeping the many temples in good repair and that ample sacrifices are available to appease the gods. The Aedile is in charge of the great feasts and games, organizing with the Local Quaestor.

Members who are voted to Aedile will gain a further 10 Favor/Influence during their time in office.
The Praetor's are the heads of the judiciary part of the SPOS, enforcing law and order. They usually command one of the three great cities in the Consol's stead.

Members who are voted to Praetor will gain a further 20 Favor/Influence during their time in office.

Consul
The highest of all elected offices the Consul is the pinnacle of one's achievement. Two Consul's are elected each year and hold supreme military and administrative power in the Republic. Each has the power to Veto and vote in the senate resetting the agreed outcome.

Although open for Votes further down the line this would be the official post of the FL. At first, I would like to keep the second space as an NPC until we have grown in size. Consular gain a further 25 Favor/Influence during their time in office.

Citizenship

If you want to bring your current PC over to the faction, this can also be accommodated through Citizenship. Just like the Roman's people from outside of the country can become full citizens after fulfilling certain criteria. The Criteria to being with is to carry out one major mission, upon completion they will be made a Citizen of Shola and a Senator.

Moving Forward & Help I Need

Of Course, five members to start this, but I am also looking for collaborators to create the NPC's to fill some of the vacant roles allowing us more depth with interaction RP's, Faction Tech (I am terrible at Tech) and other Lore items such as Gods, Cities, Historic Articles.
