The training of Hawke Voddher

Hawke Voddher had been in the archives studying up on new techniques in survallence, since his encounter with the young Padawan, Galykia. Hawke was just about to meditate on Galykia situation when a youngling came up and told him a Mster had been assigned for his training. Hawke was very pleased, he started to meditate on the start of his official training. Waiting patiently would please his new Master.

Walking into the training halls to greet his new Padawan, Hawke Voddher. Smiling at the alien species he hadn't encountered one his nature before; it would be quite the experience. Seeing that he was waiting quite patiently surprised the Master, most would jump up and happily greet and try and show off the their trainer, this one however was both calm and collected; good. Bowing to the Nautolan Rev spoke.

"Greetings Hawke, I'm Jedi Master Rev Ultor, and I'll be your instructor for the months if not years to come. Before we start let me ask if you have any questions, for it will not be long where you will be on the blunt side of my interrogations."

He flashed him his all too familiar smile, the Padawan would see a lot of it assuming he stuck around for the Jedi.

Hawke stood to geet his new Master. "Master Ultor" he said while bowing.

Hawke Voddher came up from the bow and noticed the smile on Master Ultor's face.

"Shall we begin Master?"

Rev simply gave his now pupil a nod before beginning with some questions to the "stranger."

"Let me start off by asking you Hawke, why is it you wish to become a Jedi Knight? What is it that drives you to become a defender of the Republic and all that it stands for?"

Hawke looked his Master in the eyes.

"Master, ever since I was born, the force has pulled me to defend others. I have a sense of justice which mirror the Jedi principles. I serve the Republic for the good of the people."

 

[Rev]

Rev nodded at his Padawan, he spoke truthfully and it brought an almost joy to the Jedi Master's heart to hear such things.

"What is it that drives you to protect others? Most would pass by and let another deal with their problems, though you say you would much rather stop and help... why is that Hawke?"

"Since I have never known my parents and other Nautolans taught me and protected me, I feel it is my responsibility to do it for others"

Still looking in his Masters eyes, he knew his Master flt he was speaking the truth. Hawke could also feel the flucuation in the force when he spoke of his parents, he hoped his Master could over look it.

 

[Rev]

Rev could sense this difference in his Padawan, it was appealing to the Jedi Master, and neccesary to hear Hawke's thoughts on it.

"Why is it you never knew your parents my Pupil? A great part of your life they should be in the beginning. The Jedi will always be your family now, though we cannot forget the past and our true family, they are our ties, and they are what we are and will be. Never forget that."

"My parents abandoned me after I was born. I know the Jedi is my family now, though being reminded is always good."

The Padwan bowed to his Master in respect for his comments.

 

[Rev]

Rev gave his pupil a nod wondering if he had ever met them or not.

"Have you met them?"

The Jedi Master crossed his arms wondering if the boy would even answer. If he couldn't his teacher would understand and move onto something else.

"No Master, I have not."

Hawke again felt the flucuation in the force this time his Master must have noticed it.

 

[Rev]

Sensing this difference he was simply blunt this time around.

"There's more to this isn't there Hawke?"

"Well Master, I know it is not the Jedi way to want, but I do want to know who they were."

Hawke bowed his head in shame.

 

[Rev]

"It is natural for you to want to know who your parents are. Though the Jedi are against this at times, they do embrace it. You just have to control those feelings Hawke and there is nothing you should have to worry about. The Jedi are understanding to such feelings, as long as you keep them in check. Love can be a powerful ally, you just need to control this emotion, for it can be just as powerful an enemy as well. I'm sure you will meet them someday, whether it is in life or in death. If you need any guidance on these, I'll always be here to aid you."

Taking a step away from him Rev motioned for him to follow him to the balcony.

"Lets begin your training though.. on the ledge there is two data pads. Call them to yourself and then put them back through the Force."

Hawke, closed his eyes and looked deep into the force. After a moment of concentration he felt the Force flowing through him. From his head to his shoulders, then gravitating to his arm and finally reaching his fingertips. With his eyes still closed, Hawke could see the Force reaching to the datapads, levitating them off the ledge, eventually drawing them closer to the spot where he and his Master stood.

The datapads float in mid-air in front of the Padawan and Master. Hawke pushed the pads back towards the ledge but lost control at the end and the datapads landed on the ledge with a thump.

"Master, I assume you will tell me to concentrate more?"

 

[Rev]

Rev simply gave Hawke a nod.

"You shouldn't make the mistake if you know the answer Hawke..."

He flashed his padawan a smile before laughing then motioned for him to try again.

"We have all day..."

Hawke knew he would have to do it again and closed his eyes once more. This time he completed the task, flawlessly, twice. As the datapads touched the ledge for the third time, he opened his, and smiled at his Master.

"Is this task completed to you satisfaction, Master?"

 

[Rev]

Not answering physically Rev simply spoke to Hawke.

"Do you know how to Force Jump? If so prove it by leaping from this balcony to the one across the temple there..."

Pointing to a leap that would be about 15 feet away it was an easy task for a Force user to accomplish, though a non-Force user would have a difficult time completing such a task.

Hawke closed his eyes and focused his energy towards his legs, specifically his thighs. Taking a step back, then forward he transferred the power to his calves and ankles, eventually starting his jump. CLearing the jump easily he repeated the same process and ended up back on the same side as his Master.

"Master." Hawke said.
