I suppose I had an incorrect definition of what 'chaff' was until I looked it up. I originally thought it was a similar system to when Obi-Wan released the spare parts from his ship to destroy the missile. If I did ever put anything back, it would be a particle launcher of some kind to destroy missiles mid-flight.

just had 2 point defence lasers. They can double up as anti infantry lasers

Ghost from rebels can spoof and jam imperial star destroyers.

Again, what's acceptable. Sabine had a crazy zoom in Rebels, but Grim may not be allowed a x6. Just because something is shown in Canon doesn't mean it'll be allowed here.

I say we sorted then. Any more and we clutter the thread. O ship comes with a crew of 10.

I disagree. Beskar is no longer around at all, and light saber resistant armor is even more at a premium. Just like what us acceptable regarding EW.

Lightsaber resistant not proof. EW was all so never really abused last time line. No more than any thing else.

Ok, I'll make my thoughts on this very clear here. In my opinion, the spirit of the new rules, attempting to tone back technology, is not being followed currently. Now this isn't everyone, not is it for this ship in particular. But the more we go into heavy Chaff, EW, and ECM, the more we go into the last timeline mindset. It's the same thing with crazy HUD AI stuff, or high tech screw you armor. Whether it is Canon or not isn't the question. It's whether we're keeping with the spirit of the new Timeline and it's rules.

That was another thing I had on my mind - does the assisted pilot system for this ship seem plausible for this timeline? It could never fully replicate a human co-pilot, obviously, and wouldn't be able to control the ship on its own.

I disagree. EW and ECM have all ways been in cannon star wars. Sure no need to go in depth but it is there. Example the jedi transport in phantom menace clearly picked up the fact it was being targeted by the trade federation before the gun even dropped from the hanger roof. That is EW. Every time coms is jammed it is EW, Ghost is all EW and ECM you look across star wars you find it. Sure Chaff is not there because it wont work since Star wars sensors are high tech (they can track a FTL target and track in FTL) So we cant write away EW and ECM. I mean EW has been around IRL since electronics was used in war.

And there's my point. This isn't real life. This isn't even Canon star wars as we see it in the films and shows. This is a completely different time with completely different rules. We can't even communicate efficiently between planets, so that's part of Canon invalidated. There are tech we don't allow here that are available in real life, so we can't really use that either. So bringing up something in real life or Canon is non-applicable if it goes against the spirit of this time line's rules.

So, to bring up something you mentioned earlier, adding anti-missile lasers that double as anti-infantry is against the more simplistic representation of technology, and falls into a more old timeline mentality, even if such was possible in Canon, EU, or IRL.

And to answer your question @Shalken , it is almost definitely fine. It's a basic system.

if in our simpler tech days of irl we had EW and it is prolific in star wars cannon. It is a thing and can not be removed. Sure the level can be tweaked we can say jamming of missile guidance is a no no but have warning when locked on to is ok extra extra. But EW cant be ignored or removed. Poor @Clayton we just made his live harder now. He will need to say what is and is not allowed since we cant come to a middle ground.

I'm not saying we can't detect when things have locked on or jam transmissions. I'm saying we need to keep the crazy stuff, like shielded invulnerable Missiles that can hit anything and Chaff that blocks all attacks and the ridiculous stuff. Keep everything in the spirit of the rules.

but that's not EW that's Power Playing. Something that people will all ways do because some see this about winning and not story. Personally having a weakness and playing around it is far more entertaining for me

Yes and no. It's power playing legitimised, and it became a mentality last timeline. That needs to be broken here. And people have different thoughts on what is something intended to power play. For example, personally, anti-missile Lasers that function as anti-infantry weapons is power playing. But that's just how I see it; where I draw the line.

What do you guys think of anti-missile frag launchers? Not accurate by any means, but still effective in a pinch. I won't use one on this ship but I do have them on the Starhunter tech profile I posted.

Hmm. Maybe? That falls into a weird category for me, sorry.

for me its adding 2 guns to gunship that is all ready undergunded. For me power playing is stacking system on system on system. Anti missile lasers, stealth(stealth not invisibility) tech, high speed for example is power play for me. But 1 of those 3 with standard gear for the rest is fine. Have your 200mglt ship with weak shields bad armour and a tiny gun. Seeing how this ship is a gunship with standard speed, 2 guns and average mobility some form of anti missile tech will not be power playing since the rest is generic and the tech does prevent fighters from defeating it

Then add more guns. Because I think that those Lasers, in themselves, are bad.

I'm not using it as a gunship anymore, it's a transport. That's why I removed all the guns. As nice as anti-missile armaments sound, an average spacefarer would probably not invest in them unless they were paranoid and had the money to add such an upgrade.
