Description: A side product of the Chiss’ Io Project. It was designed to be a stand alone, deep space research and exploration vessel. As such it is armed and armored quite well. However, it was designed to fight off fighters, shuttles, and transports, rather than capital ships. Given the latest in scientific technology, sensors, and medical treatment, it lacks the standard masers of the Chiss war vessels, as it was not wanted for the ship to carry the latest in Chiss military technology for fear of it falling into enemy hands. This was the prototype of the ships, and highly modular, able to be changed to test out new technologies as they were discovered and to be a test bed for various things.
