The Zialan Sodality

space-marine-picture-02.jpg

We have waited in the dark.

We have waged a war of terror on our planet Abyssissa.

Now we come to wage one on the galaxy.

We are the Zialan Sodality.

We are but an ancient Order from the planet Abyssissa, an order of strength and power. Our planet’s harsh nature ensures that those who survive are not weak, and our Sodality accepts only the best of our kind; only those who can wield mysterious and strange powers over mind and matter, powers that make mere men tremble in fear. We are shunned and we are hated for our strength, for our dominance over the lower castes, yet we are the natural order as it is meant to be. Three, long, blood uprisings on our planet have occurred against us in the last hundred years. Each one has been brutally and violently put down, and the serfs returned to their rightful place.

For we have our key advantage.

There is a plague upon the galaxy, a plague that has spread to Abyssissa. No alien shall ever set foot on our planet again; from our armoured enclave we strike, and we kill without mercy. As we are the dominant humans, humans are the dominant species; no alien shall ever have place within the Zialan Sodality. No alien shall ever be treated as ally, as friend. There is no war left for us on Abyssissa, and our Gods dictate that only through a life of war can one be strong, only through a life of war can we ascend to paradise. Only through death through war can we escape from the limbo half-world between the punishment for traitors and paradise. We have come to seek our paradise, and each victim shall be a sacrifice to our Gods.

And they shall drink of the blood of our enemies.

We take no prisoners, we do not negotiate. Thus is our way. We pillage and take the spoils of war and feast and drink for days after our success. Yet are we the bloodthirsty brutes our enemies would have you believe? No! We abide by the tenets set down by our Gods, the six tenets that control and bind us. We do not flee, we do not surrender, to be long term captured is to be shamed, to betray a fellow member is to be shamed and the Master is to be obeyed in all ways, unless you have the strength to challenge him for his position.

Thus is our way.

Missions

Notice: As of this moment, I am currently waiting to confirm with Storm how the squads and fireteams work. For now, simply follow the chart below to figure it out:
[Oh, and do remember that this is, for the time being, subject to change without notice!]

Warrior - May command Fireteam of 2 NPC Warriors whose loadouts may be configured to suit mission requirements.

Sergeant - May command a single squad of 8 NPC Warriors whose loadouts may be configured to suit mission requirements.

Captain - May command three 8-Warrior squads whose loadouts may be configured to suit mission requirements.

Chaplain/Inquisitor - May command a single 8-man squad of Inquisitors equipped with standard Inquisitorial equipment.

Bringer of Chaos
-Warrior and above, squad/fire team required.
-At least 1 Warrior
-Threat Level: Medium-Low.
A radical xeno cultist on Byss has been stirring up a religious fervor among the people. The ranks of his cult swell with hapless men and woman who have been lulled into insanity and fanaticism by their charismatic leader, who we believe is using various drugs to break down the will of his followers to ensure that they obey his commands. Warriors, your orders are simple: Destroy the cultist and cleanse his complex -hidden within a forest- of all his followers by any means necessary. Show no mercy.

Expect determined resistance from the defenders, but they are poorly armed and equipped and should pose little threat. There is no fire support for this mission.

The Black Knight
-Warrior and above, squad not allowed.
-At least 1 Warrior
-Threat Level: Low.
Brother-Sergeant Horatio Skylark of the 1st Reconnaissance Regiment has disappeared on a scouting mission on Tattooine. His last report placed him at Mos Eisely, where he was actively tracking a group of slavers working out of a small cantina near the spaceport. Find Sergeant Thule, determine his status and if necessary evacuate him to the dropship, and then eliminate the slavers should they still be present. Collateral damage is of no concern. You will not have fire support for this mission.

Angels of Mercy
-Warriors and above, fire team/squad allowed.
-At least 1 Warrior + 1 member of any rank.
-Threat Level: Medium.
The Slums of Nar Shadda are a dangerous place, especially when we consider the disgusting fashion in which xenos roam free and are allowed to do whatever they wish to the local human populace. One of the few truly safe refuges for humankind on that pitiful sphere of rock is the Angel of Mercy Hospital. It is an old, rundown facility on the lower levels of Nar Shadda and has long been out of operation. However, a small group of humans have moved into the hospital and turned it into a serviceable clinic and way station for their fellows.

Needless to say, the local swoop gangs are not jumping for joy over this. The hospital is being targeted by gangs aiming to steal the medical supplies from the clinic and sell them upon the black market, not to mention that they will undoubtedly slaughter or enslave every human they find within. Your orders are to proceed to the Hospital as soon as possible, fortify the location, and fight off an impending assault on the Clinic built into the core of the structure. We have little intelligence on the gangs, but you will be fighting in close quarters. The Armorers suggest that flamethrowers and support bolters will be very well suited to this engagement, but be cautious to avoid collateral damage to the local human populace.

Finally, do not engage any Hutt Empire Forces. We do not wish to irritate them at this time.

Into the Maelstrom
-Warrior and above, fire team/squad required
-At least 1 Warrior
-Threat Level: Unknown; assume to be High
The BTS Maelstrom is a picket cruiser once operated by the a Mercenary Group known as the Crimson Guard shortly before the Alsakan Crisis. It has floated lifelessly through space for seventy years, and has just now drifted into our home system. It has been transmitting an extremely distressing message referring to a shipwide infestation of terrible demons and hell-spawned monsters that mutate corpses to their own ends. It is likely the vessel encountered some kind of xenobiological entity that boarded the ship and began to assimilate the Crew, or else some normally harmless virus mutated at some point during the ship‘s patrol... That, or it is possible that the crew simply went insane due to unknown reasons.

No matter what happened, if the ‘demons’ are still aboard, they must be purged before a threat can be posed to our homeworld, or to any other human-occupied world. Take a boarding party and investigate the hulk of the Maelstrom, determine what occurred, and then scuttle the vessel before salvagers attempt to have their way with the remnants of the vessel.

We are unsure of what you will be facing aboard the vessel, but it is likely organic in nature. Flamethrowers and support bolters are strongly recommended. As you are inside a ship, you will not have fire support, but if necessary you may cut your way out of the hull and perform a spacewalk, and a dropship will pick you up. Needless to say, you must utilize combat suits rated to survive in hard vacuum on this mission. An Armorer should be able to equip your suit to withstand vacuum if you should need the upgrade.

[Final notice: There are more missions coming, so consider this a sampler! Also, Sodality Officers; feel free to PM me or Stormy about any brilliant mission ideas that strike you. Everyone else, if you have any questions at all about any of the missions, just post them or PM me and I'll answer as best I can.]

I love the write up. Partially because of the pretty colours, partly because I, uh, wrote it. =P

Also, people, let's keep sign-up's in the actual recruitment thread from here on out, please. Thanks. =)

Indeed I do, CK57.

Oyeah, and everyone, some missions are up in the start post, so check 'em out and start taking them! There should be a little something for everyone, and more missions ought to be coming halfway soon.

I'm up for bringing Vashni into the one that Trakon's doing. Sounds almost like my idea that you never let me finish :CIsee:

Alright Trakon, Dragon; you two have "Into the Maelstrom".

Just a quick FYI, you'll need to find someone to NPC the enemies, or I'll NPC them for you. [I'm also NPC'ing the enemies in the 'Angel of Mercy' mission, which is why I regulated my character and his forces to the sidelines.] If you do get someone to NPC the enemy, let me know via PM so that I can PM them the details of what you'll be facing.

And as a quick side note to you lot; if I'm NPC'ing the enemies in your mission, don't expect it to be a walk in the park just because I like you. I'll be doing my utmost to kill you each and every time, so stay sharp! ;)

Oh and btw, Dragon: I've had this mission idea since before you returned to the site. I just haven't had a faction to give the mission to until now.

Alright lads, it's time to kick this faction back into gear. Too long have we sat in the shadows doing nothing. It's high time we launch a strike to strike fear into the hearts of Xeno's across the galaxy, and if possible, seize control of assets for our glorious Sodality.

All members are hereby ordered to obey the following commands:

All Open Threads including a Xeno character are now considered 'Missions'. If possible, enter the thread and slaughter all Xeno's within. Show them no quarter, and if you find humans collaborating with them, destroy them as well for their heresy.

All Open Threads containing a Hutt, Republic, or Independent Faction mission are now considered our missions as well. If possible, enter the thread and lay waste to all non-Sodality Forces within and secure the assets of whatever faction you engage in battle against. Pick your fight with care, brothers; do not engage a foe you cannot beat. For these types of threads, contact me prior to joining and I will determine what manner of reinforcements you may bring to bear for the mission. [Do NOT, under any circumstances, engage either the Jedi or Dark Jedi. I don't think we have any IC knowledge of the latter faction at this time, and we want to avoid creating too many enemies at this point.]

If there is an Open Thread containing a Hutt, Republic, or Independent Faction character of any rank, enter it and attempt to capture that character, or if all else fails, kill that character. Report all successes in this regard directly to me or Cailst [aka noncommunist], who will be my second-in-command for the time being since Storm is gone.

Last but not least, there is a mission in the works that shall write our name in blood and make it known to the entire galaxy. It will be risky, and will be absolutely, horridly immoral, requiring the heartless slaughter of both innocent humans and foul Xeno's. I am working to prepare the mission; in the mean time, if anyone would be interested in a gigantic slaughterfest in space, PM me for details.

As a quick side note, I'm preparing a list of Sodality Enemies and missions with which we will strike at them, so expect still more to come, and soon.
