Honestly, the 80's animation style makes this anime far more appealing to the generation of people born after OT, but early enough to still not think the prequels are great. Rebels etc. targets a younger demographic simply by artistic design. This TIE Fighter short appeals to the kinds of people that grew up with Gundam, Dragonball, Ghost in the Shell, Macross and all the other anime greats. It's hit a million views within a day, so hopefully Disney will take notice and use it to introduce an Imperial storyline. The whole fighter jock attitude really fits in with Star Wars also imo.

I mean, I know Disney will want to dictate storyline, but there's nothing that'd prevent this guy from heading up a project as lead designer/animator.

I'd like to see an Imperial storyline in the animation style of Cowboy Bebop. Steve Blum as an Imperial pilot instead of Zeb.

I'm shocked to say I agree wholeheartedly. I got used to the animation of TCW, but I think I'll always prefer the anime style. Specifically this kind.

Its cheap and its reasonably fast. Perfect for a young demographic. Also it's not even that bad, the expressions are very good.

Now an animation done in this traditionalist style would take years and many many artists to make a movie.
