On Thyferra the sun had fully risen over the hidden enclave of the shades in all of it's oppressive glory. The heat from the humid world was certainly uncomfortable but Adrion felt it was more like an all year sauna than anything else. Meditating comfortably on a rotten log apart of a small clearing in the tropical jungle outside of the enclave he waited for his Padawon to arrive. Besides him sat a pack filled with the supplies he thought would be needed for the training. Letting himself be tugged softly by the force Adrion deepened his meditations looking out without any form into a whirl of light that was life moving throughout the jungle. Enjoying the sensation he let his meditations distract him while he awaited the arrival of his Padawon.

Miriam paid the pilot and stepped off her transport. The humidity hit her like bricks, she might have been breathing in a river ... a clean river. It wasn't like the city air, which she preferred, she took out her flask from a front pocket and took a drink of her concoction, "ahh..." she whispered as she felt it burn through her body, at least she had this stuff, perhaps it could make the air less humid around her...creating a numbness in her body she took a few more drinks. " 'edder" she slurred. Miriam slid her flask into a convenient location for easy access and pulled out her data pad to read what her contact had said to meet this unique individual, "oi kay...dat way!" she said in her slightly drunken state and begun her hike.

While Meditating Adrion sensed the girl entering the very fringe of his ranged force control. He waited for Miriam to enter father into his domain, she was still a good half kilometer away, then let his plan of testing her commence. He sent a thought reverberating into her mind "Keep vigilant." To Miriam who was intoxicated the message was slurred. "ceip viglent" A few seconds after the thought was portrayed into her mind Adrion using a controlled pull broke off a large rotted branch above her head to plummet down onto her. The branch would only cause unconsciousness from the distance of the fall and the infirmity of the wood but it would still hurt.

Miriam had broke a sweat, "Ughhh..." she grunted she didn't like this humidity. And the jungle, out of all places to feel out of place, she now wished she stayed in the city, she's made it this far in life. She took another drink to quench her thirst, looking down the mouth of the flask and thinking how this stuff usually comatose humans, it hasn't hurt her yet, "Eh all da more to drink up." she laughed to herself. Miriam stumbled her first couple steps but regained her balance and continued forward following the map on her datapad.
Miriam continued to walk when she heard words ring her head, "Ohhhhh Mumoo, wuteber duza..." she giggled again. And there it was, "Sit splawn...not stung enof..." she slurred and stumbled over her own feet and watched as the branch crushed her data pad, waking her up some, she realized, "Bid sit splawn..." she swore. She pulled out her flask, "Leass I hab you!" she said drinking the rest in the flask and tossed it into the folage. She stood up and started walking in the direction she thought was best.

"Well she's drunk ... great." learning of her condition so far Adrion felt he would have to stop the girls drinking Habits if he was to make any head way with her training at all. Sensing Miriam stumbling in the wrong direction away from the clearing. Adrion ceased his test and in it's stead merely moved the obstacles around the girl so that it was far easier to move towards the clearing that he was sitting in instead of any other direction.

Miriam was angered it was taking so long, frustrated she took out another flask and kept her lookout for more falling branches. The sun was reaching its peak and Miriam never felt anyplace so hot and humid. She noted to herself out loud that she will avoid living in anyplace with this much humidity, no matter how much they're willing to pay. Every now and then she thought she saw the foliage move, not because of wind, because there wasn't any, she would know, but she almost begun to think the jungle was haunted or she was beginning to hallucinate....again.
Miriam came to a stop and look out into a clearing. She took out her flask again and took a drink. She looked into the middle of the clearing, she thought through the haze of the humidity she could make out someone, but unsure, she called out: "Hey!"

Taking notice of her Adrion broke away from his meditations and moved breaking his camouflage with the rest of the forest. "Welcome Miriam ...come sit tell me of yourself." He said in greeting with a voice that was not distorted by the distance despite how softly he had spoken. A moss covered log rolled next to him by his bidding giving her a place to sit.

Miriam didn't hear him call back, but she swore if or when he did speak, he spoke right next to her. "Weird" Miriam whispered and rolled her eyes. Gathering a feeling that he wasn't going to hurt her, she decided he was the individual she was looking for, Miriam approached him with wobbly legs and flopped down on the mossed log he had gestured fore her to sit. She had really wished that they could go indoors where it would be a controlled environment, but from her simple observation she had a feeling that they were going to be out here for a little while longer. Miriam took another drink, she observed him for a moment and then spoke:
"My name is Miriam Thaesh as you probably already know," she said with a slight slur, she didn't trust him, but with a short pause she continued on, if he was going to do any harm she figured he would done so by now."I was born wealthy, and now I struggle to survive day by day." she flatly told him, the slur of her drunkenness gone."I have come to seek help, my contact advised me to see your sect of those who are force sensitive because you may be more accepting than the Jedi Order themselves." she informed him, and took a drink, her sentences begun to slur slightly
"Iwa told dits a Jedi thing to have visions, and den more or less likely for them to actually haden. It started when diwa 8, its been a while," she smiled widely with the thought of how long she'd put up with it. She relaxed some thinking of her past, and put her flask away.
"It started with simple things," her slur gone, "A split second glimpse that warned me something was about to happen that could cause me harm. I dared not to tell anyone." she said and then smiled, "Heh, I always knew if I was going to take the wrong step and slide down the stairs or if one of my brothers were hiding behind a door, they never were able to scare me." she looked away from the point of stare she had on the trees before to see how this new stranger was reacting, making eye contact she looked back at the trees and continued,"It eventually got out of hand a few years later when I started having them when I was asleep, and it would be people that I have met; usually not personal aquatiences always but people I've seen or know, I would know when they would die."
She got quiet and took her flask out once more to drink its contents, but not enough to slur her speech.
"I would wake up the next morning and see on the Holo-net or local news that they had passed away, sometimes naturally or sometimes violently. It was the violent ones that I turned to drinking." she admitted to him, "If I drink enough, I wouldn't remember anything, and well it worked...kinda..." she let out a sigh, "My body tends to detoxify itself quickly," She held up her flask, "I don't know any other human who is able to drink this without going into a coma. It scares me sometimes. I would be drunk for about an hour, then I will be just fine, fully aware. But its helped the visions. I don't get them when I drink this stuff. Its nice." she smiled, "No one in my family has known to demonstrate this talent I have, I think its caused me more harm than it has good. But I admit that I have been woken up slightly, my best friend and business partner had been murdered, I couldn't do anything to help Jeere. But I want to know if there is anything I can do to prevent or warn those that I see in my dreams. I feel almost responsible sometimes."
She felt angry at herself for letting her friend die, "I want to know if you can help me stop them? The visions that I have, I do not want them anymore." she spat with anger, annoyance, and frustration.

Adrion listened with patience allowing the girl to tell him her troubles. " Miriam you are not responsible for the visions or the events that transpired and nor should you feel as such. However your desire to block these premonitions has taken a dangerous path that only a fool would take." Without so much as a gesture the flask leaped from the girls hands and landed in front of Adrion where he took a slight sip of it."You've allowed your mind to become sullied and soon you will drink to a point where not even your body can recuperate. From this moment on while training with me you shall no longer use intoxicants. As a gesture of trust I will not search or demand of you to hand them over for it is your choice wether to use them or not." Spitting the liquid out he handed the flask back to her. "Now first we shall clean our bodies by allowing the humid climate around us to sweat it out. Then you shall face the visions that you fear once you tell me when your mind is clear."

Ugh her brain sighed, she didn't need to second guess herself, now she wished she took advice and dressed cooler. Miriam had listened to the man carefully and starred at her flask that he now held, but didn't take it. She thought for a few minutes, what else did she have to lose? How hard could this be? she laughed inside, "I won't miss the mynock." she whispered outloud, "But, must we sit out here? I don't like the humidity." she complained.

"We will stay put you seem to have enough resolve to quit drinking but perhaps the loss of comfort in this climate will help you take your mind off your problems. " Adrion said as a bead of sweat trickled down his face. "Anyways long ago when I was an apprentice my old master used to tell me that the humidity of this planet helped lazy padawons train harder to get back to the controlled cool climate of the enclave."

"Ok, I'll take answer as a yes." she sighed to herself rolling her eyes, and wiped her forehead with the back of her hand looking up into the hazy sky, "Yuck. Well, I'm sure that strategy of your master's worked." Miriam straightened up a little lifting her chin with confidence, "But I'm not lazy..." Miriam stood up and walked to the edge of the clearing and sat in the shade, "...I just want to get what I want," she said loud enough for him to hear, "Psh...lazy padawans...how hard can this be?" she asked out loud.

Adrion raised an eyebrow at her comment "The training was difficult enough for me especially since I was one of the lazy padawons." He smiled at Miriam then sat up relishing the feel of movement he'd been sitting for nearly five hours in meditation. Looking over towards Miriam he asked. "First before we start do you know the Shades Code?" If Miriam knew the code already he'd be quite impressed at her ability to gather information but he doubted that she would of had time to considering her small amount of time on Thyferra.

Miriam was already feeling cooler in the shade of the trees, she cocked an eyebrow to his question, "Shade's Code? No. Never heard of it." she told him, yet she wasn't surprised, most organizations...who were organized had a code of their own.

"The code of our order is for guidance it's meaning to you maybe entirely different from what its meaning is for me.
My emotion makes me,
My knowledge guides me,
My passion drives me,
My strength enables me,
My harmony balances me,
I walk the shaded path.
Soon after I take you through your training I will ask you what it means to you and hopefully it will differ from what it means now."
Adrion said to Miriam as the trees swayed lazily about them. "Now If you feel clear headed enough would you like to start learning the basics of the force or sit in the sun for another hour?"

Miriam repeated the code in her head, yes, right now it sound like a bunch of mumble jumble, but trusted it would clear up soon enough. She stood up, "I never liked sitting." she told him, "I guess we can get started."

"Good then we shall start immediately." Besides Adrion a flat mossy rock the size of his hand lifted from the ground rinsing the ground lightly with dirt. Taking two large steps back still in the clearing he lowered the rock between him and Miriam. "Feel the force around you do not be perturbed by it allow it to lift the stone as you would use a hand and bring it to eye level then lower it back to the ground again."

Miriam starred at the rock, slightly annoyed, "Lift the rock?" she said and picked it up with her hands to her eye level and let out a long sigh as she set the rock back down. She sured did wish she had a drink right about now... Miriam shook her head, "No." she whispered to herself.

She starred at the rock intensely and held out her hand as if she were holding it in her palm, she kept that position for a good 30 minutes, soaked with sweat and her arm felt like it had fallen off.
"I'm not getting it, the only thing I'm feeling is a sore arm and the hot and humid jungle." she complained.

"It is for the best that setbacks happen so that we can overcome and learn from them." Adrion said back not disappointed in the least at the lack of progression. Many Padawons struggled so on this first test. "Tell me whenever you had these visions have you ever felt different have their been times when unexplained events happened that allowed your premonitions to cease being mere visions but reality?" He asked motioning for her to cease her efforts and answer him without distraction.

Miriam thought carefully, "Ya, just recently, before I met you, on my way here it happened," she explained, "I don't exactly remember it too clearly," she admitted since that time she was slightly intoxicated, "But I got that feeling like something bad was going to happen and I reacted on instinct, letting my body do what it wanted to do." she told him thinking of the tree branch, Miriam's eyes narrowed in frustration, "Yay, and instead of hurting me, it crushed my data pad."
