The Republic to restore the Republic
The True Republic was formed by Martin Kumandi, a former political terrorist who escaped from prison along with other prisoners on the giant prison ship, the Stalwart. After signing the True Republic Constitution with fellow inmates, they fought the prison guards on the Stalwart and gained control of the ship. Using the True Republic Constitution as their guide, Martin Kumanudi was sworn into office as the first President of the True Republic. Afterward, they immediately aided the rebellions on the four other large prison ships in the convoy, very secretly, to not get the attention of the thirty starfighters escorting the convoy. Once they arrived to a maximum security prison complex on Myrkr, Martin and the prisoners landed the five large prison transport cruisers as the starfighters also landed. Disguised in prison guard uniforms, the prisoners led by Martin met up with the starfighter pilots and killed them. Now in control of five prison transport cruisers and thirty starfighters, they formed the True Republican Navy, although small, they still had pride in it.
Afterward, the combined force of four thousand prisoners overran the guards of Myrkr Prison, killing all of them. They released the prisoners, many of which ran off towards Myrkr's cities, those who remained were sworn in as True Republic citizens. Martin renamed the Myrkr Prison to Haven City, a symbol to those who wished to escape Galactic Republican tyranny. Martin then had those who knew how to pilot starcraft teach others to be a part of the True Republican Navy and established the True Republican Army, whose commander would be a group of three citizens who were once enlisted men.
The principles of the True Republic were, to put more limits on the power of the presidency, and more to the True Republican Assembly, which served as the legislative. To seek peace with the Alsakans, Onderon, the Jedi, and the Ospion.
