As you can see, we now have a slightly different board set up than we did 20 minutes ago. I’ve created a few new forum categories: Neutral Role Play Area, Role Play Discussions, and Diverse Role Play. What this did was take boards that were under the Role Play header and give them their own dedicated space, for the purposes of better organization.

The Role Play header now has the Story and the two profiles boards. The Neutral Role Play Area has the Dueling Ring, and will soon have the DSC Daedalus neutral RPing area. Then the Role Play Discussions has the OOC and Help board, and the category under Factions is Diverse RP.

If you have any questions, feel free to let us know.

Eh, not a fan of it so far. It looks choppy, and the "Neutral Role Play Area" looks naked with only the Dueling Ring (which is hardly used).

As I said, there will be a new board in the Neutral area soon, with the possibility for more after that.

Not a fan of the neutral role playing area so far. Although if we start to include Xeno's space station and - fingers crossed - my own proposition for a neutral zone, then I can see myself warming to it.

I agree partly with Hollow. I think it looks okay right now, but it'll look even better with his and Xeno's thingies up as well.

Even still, I feel like it will look naked. I don't entirely see the point of a neutral role-play area, when players generally decide for themselves if their story threads are neutral or otherwise. Also, it looks so choppy. ;-;

Yes, that's the plan (at least Xeno's station, for now). This is the bare bones base, one that can be expanded upon moving forward.

I agree.

I also disagree with how far down the page the Diverse RP is, I fear this will lead to it being even more neglected then it already is.

I think this was a bad change folks.

The Diverse RP is not part of the timeline, therefore it shouldn't be in the timeline Role Play area. It needs to be on its own, not shoehorned into the timeline area.

Then move it into a Roleplay Sub Forum, not a Story Sub Forum, or at least put it above the bloody factions.

Again, the factions are part of the timeline, and the Diverse should not be put into the timeline area.

It needs to go into the most logical place, and outside of the areas devoted to the timeline (Role Play, neutral areas, Factions, RP OOC) is the logical place. The Diverse RP is not the primary focus of this website.

If that's the approach you're taking, why not just get rid of it altogether? I'm sorry but I just fundamentally disagree with this desicion, some of the best role plays I've had on this forum have been in the Diverse realm of writing.

I think it should stay in the Role Play section, but put the Diverse OOC, inside of it. I don't think it's detracting from the main Roleplay at all by being there, all this succeeds in doing is detracting from a section that was already being neglected a tremendous amount.

That this will detract from the Diverse RP is an assumption, and I'm not going to change this based on an assumption. Should what you're saying prove to be true, I'll say I was wrong and move it back. That day's not today, though.

Also it is just so choppy. ;-; I'm not liking the feel I get when I'm scrolling through the main page.

It's not an assumption at all actually. The Diverse RP is already a neglected forum, moving away from all of the main and most commonly visited areas succeeds in doing nothing but having it be neglected even moreso than it has before. You're reasoning for moving it in the first place, like my name, appears to be hollow.

Adding the Planets, Technology and Species section, I completely agree with. Keeping the RP discussion in a separate forum, I completely agree with.

But tearing the Diverse RP away from everything and throwing down to the bottom of the site? I'm sorry but that's an incredibly dumb decision.

Because there's not much there yet. I've explained that this is a base to add more onto. Please be patient, we're going to have new boards like the DSC Daedalus in a few days. :)

If we accept your premise that the Diverse RP is neglected, then if it's more neglected I will move it back, like I already said. I have to see proof of that, though, and you don't get proof of that after 20 minutes. For the moment I think it's a positive change that puts it in its own section outside of the timeline area. If it turns out I'm wrong, I've already said I'll change it back.

So you're premise for your arguement that putting it in its own section is a good idea....is that it's in it's own section?

I'm sorry but that's really not enough for me, in the past whenever an Admin has said something similar to "We'll get to that eventually" OR "We'll see what happens", its completely forgotten about. A prime example being my Banner thread, of which Boli STILL hasn't gotten back to me on.

All you need to do is add one more sub forum beneath the Planets, Tech and Species sub forum, titled Diverse RP. That way it's still separated from everything by being at the end of the Roleplay section, but is still easily accessible at the precipice of the site. You can put the OOC inside of that sub forum.

It surprises me that this wasn't done in the first place.

That's Boli, and it's a banner. This is me, and it's the appearance of my site and the structure of it.

That answer is not going to change today. You want to tell me I'm wrong, then in the next couple of weeks, prove me wrong. If I'm wrong, then I move it back.

I'm completely prepared to admit that I'm wrong if I find that I'm wrong.
