Kneeling in the center of the dimly lit training room Avare' took deep breaths. The room was filled with dark energy, filling anyone within it with a sense of power. The darkness manipulated anything to its dark aura, pushing it to its limits. Embracing the darkness was the only way to survive. He would soon see if his new apprentice, Janma Nael, could handle the dark powers that would be put before her...

Janma pulled the heavy doors out of her way and stepped into her training room. She immediately gasped at the sheer, utter power that filled the air. The doors slammed behind her with a resounding boom. She closed her eyes for a moment and thought. The atmosphere was charged with power, yes, but also fear. Janma was afraid, but yet ready to face whatever was in store.

"Master? I have come for my training." She tried to smooth her voice, but she still sounded a bit fearful.

Staring at the young woman before him she couldn't be any older than 20. Only a few years younger than himself he thought. Pushing it out of his mind, those thoughts had no meaning now, it was about training a new pupil in the ways of the darkside. Standing from his position his eyes focused on the girl, looking her over for any sign of weakness, she was scared, as she should be. Calling upon the Force he reached out and began to choke her, the Force gripping her larynx just enough for her to gasp for breath.

"The Sith Code, recite it!"

Tears nearly escaped Janma's eyes as her throat was summarily crushed. No! I must get through this! she thought. She took what little breath she could and recited,

"Peace is a lie, there is only passion... through passion, I gain--" she gasped "--strength, through strength, I gain power, through power, I gain victory, through victory, my chains are broken," she paused, almost for dramatic effect, but also for a short breath. "The Force shall set me free."

Please, let that be it... Janma thought. Images flashed in her head of what might happen if it was wrong. She clenched her jaw and cleared her thoughts.

He increased the amount of force applied on the choke before releasing her. Nodding at her form, she would become a Sith, he was sure of this. Crossing his arms once more he paced back and forth in front of the woman, wondering what to do with her first.

"The Force... what do you know of it? and what have you been taught of it..?"

He needed to see what it was he would have to train Janma in before jumping in too deep, he would break her, slowly. If he were to shatter her too soon then she would never recover from the pain brought down upon her...

"I... well, I know that the Force is what connects everything. It is the Ultimate, and nothing is more basic or more powerful than it. And I know that people use it, I just don't know how." Janma sighed. It was a relief to not be dead. She looked around the room for a moment. It was dark and gray. Nothing interesting... except that carving over there... hmm... what was that?

Not again! Janma thought to herself. She inwardly slapped herself and forced her eyes to look back at Avare'.

((Question: What rank does this make me in the Sith?))

((Acolyte))

As her eyes wandered he smirked, she was easily distracted, and knew little of the Force, he would have to teach her. Taking in a deep breath he stopped pacing and stopped in front of her, staring down at her, she was more fearful than most, he would use this emotion against her.

"The Force is much more than that! It is a weapon to the Sith, it is our greatest ally! We can use it to destroy, manipulate, and above all conquer our enemies!"

Staring into her still pure eyes his red hues pierced through her form, wanting to find her greatest weakness and test it against her, but not now.

"The Force is a complicated thing Janma! Though it is also simple once you learn the ways of it... you are strong in the Force though you may not believe it."

Reaching into the pocket of his cloak he pulled out a Sith Holocron, calling upon the Force it lifted into the air, floating just inches above his palm and spinning in no specific pattern.

"Reach out! Call upon our tool... manipulate the air and pull the Holocron towards you.."

The Holocron spun before her, but Janma didn't understand how to move it. But... how am I supposed to move it? It's over there... and I can't just move things... she thought, but she needed to do this. Her master wouldn't have asked it if it was immpossible, right?

Her eyebrows knitted as she tried to think of that thing, that something that she knew was there. This is ridiculous... she thought, but suddenly, she could almost feel something. Okay, now to move the Holocron... She thought, then tried.

This isn't working... Indeed, it wasn't. Nothing happened. But, wait, if I do this, does that-- The Holocron moved, just half an inch. And Janma had the trick of it now. She pulled it harder, and it flew into her hand. She smiled, just a tiny bit.

He nodded, she was having difficulty as most would, but she was getting the hang of things, good. Staring her down for a few moments he stuck his hand out and waited before speaking once more. He had almost half expected her to know what was about to come.

"Now do the opposite... Force Push... give the holocron back to me by placing it in my hand... this technique is invaluable when it comes to future lessons and distracting an enemy. Speed is not the primary focus.... yet."

His red eyes pierced through the girl, waiting impatiently for the holocron to return to his palm.

Okay, I can do this, I already kind of did it once, she thought. She opened up her hand and looked at the holocron in her palm. Now, think of that thing, and push it back to him, I guess.

It was faster this time, and soon Janma had pushed it into his hand. That wasn't too hard, right? she inwardly questioned herself. The rest of her mind agreed.

He nodded she was getting the hang of things. Sliding the holocron back into his pocket he stared at her for a few seconds before nodding at what to teach her next. Crouching he looked up at a ledge that overhung the room. Calling the Force to his legs he pushed off the ground in a leap and landed on the edge with a gentle thud. Looking down at her he smirked and gave her a nod.

"Now its your turn... this is called Force Jump, channel the Force Energy to your legs and leap releasing the built-up energy when you push off the ground."

Leaning back against the wall he waited for her, unsure if she could even make the height of the jump.

((Sorry I've been absent, school started, and I swear I got homework in EVERY CLASS on the first day. Ugh. And it's only been getting worse.))

Janma looked at the jump. It looked high. She then thought about doing it. It seemed very impossible, but she would give it a try. She had to.

The Force welled beneath her, she could sense it. She crouched, preparing to jump. Her legs filled with power, as she had willed them to be, she gritted her teeth, and jumped. Her eyes were closed for a millisecond, but she opened them wide once she realized that she wasn't going to fail horribly. She looked at the ledge, coming closer... Oh please make it! she prayed.

Her feet connected with the ledge. Janma absorbed most of the shock of the landing, but she had just jumped higher than any human could normally. She stumbled and fell.

Face red, she scrambled to her feet. She tried to look dignified, but probably failed. But that didn't matter--she had made it! Inwardly, she did a little dance. A victory dance.
