Vri's Armored Swoop Suit
After impulse-investing in a modified swoop bike as her vehicle of choice, Vri got her hands on a genuine swoop-biker suit and decided to make some quality of life modifications to it. She reinforced the helmet and turned the jacket into a blast vest, while padding the underlining of the suit with thermal wicking and armorweave for added protection. At the same time she added a navigational HUD to the helmet and a voice scrambler, the latter mostly because she thought it was cool. Finally, she added a little insurance policy to her clothes in the form of a 4 inch concealed blade in her right boot.
She has also painted a purple streak down the middle of the helmet, similar to her own purple mohawk hair.
LEGALITY
Legal. There is nothing inherently illegal about reinforcing and upgrading a swoop racing suit and helmet, in fact her armor looks remarkably like regular (albeit well padded) street clothes. What Vri does with this suit is a whole other matter.
INTENT
I just wanted some unique light armor for my latest character.

Type and Coverage

Coverage:
Type: Light Armor
Coverage:
- Head: Enclosed Duraplast helmet
- Torso: Lightweight blast vest with removable Duraplast plate inserts
- Back: Lightweight blast vest with removable Duraplast plate inserts
Functions
Function 1: Thermal Undersuit
- Thermal undersuits wick away or reflect thermal energy for brief periods of time. They are not nearly as effective as a suit that firefighters would wear. Most commonly used to protect soldiers from flamethrower weapons or short bursts of extreme heat or cold, and are only good for 1-2 posts of exposure depending on intensity. They are useless against blasters.
- Most often in the form of a heavy cape, skirt, or underlay beneath armor, armor weave provides some protection against the penetrating effects of shrapnel from explosives and other unpowered high velocity impacts, with only a small amount of bleed through damage (bruising or very minor wounds). It offers no protection against kinetic impact or energy, vibroweapons, or similar "powered" weapons.
- Scout HUD - Contains a 4x magnifier and Compass.
- For the unusually paranoid, this helmet function can scramble a person's voice to unintelligible garbage, while allowing commlink conversations to continue as normal. Alternatively, it can be used to "digitize" a voice into a deep bass tone.
- Concealed blades are typically 4-6 inches in length and lock into place once extended. They are almost always placed along the fore-arm or boot. They are no substitute for true combat knives as the locking mechanism can break under strong impacts. Still, some people enjoy them as a helpful backup.
