Description: A vehicle designed to move at extremely high speeds as well as being useful at more ordinary velocities, this speeder bike is a modified variant of the Skyrider bike formerly in service with the standard forces. It typically employs the repulsorlift and the four micro-pulsejets to travel at speeds comparable to high-end swoops with two more mounted on the nose to decelerate. The bike's main engine, is capable of accelerating it to high speeds more comparable to those of a combat cloud car, enabling the bike to keep abreast of the Gryphon repulsor-tanks that form the main of the Immortal mechanized fighting power. Thanks to the plasma engines operating in tandem with the repulsorlift, the Skyrider II requires neither atmosphere nor gravity to function, making it more versatile than many civilian repulsor-craft. The Skyrider II also has impressive energy efficiencies due to the jets operating with cold plasma rather than the more energy- and fuel-intensive turbothrusters, solving a weakness of the original model.

Because of the bike's small size and oversized engine, it lacks much in the way of weaponry and is very lightly armored. It is, however, the fastest of the Immortal vehicles, and thanks to the combination of its nightshadow coating and the cold plasma engines is difficult to detect. This lets the Skyrider II excel at covert and passive recon as well as infiltration/exfiltration missions. While the main of the Immortal Legions use float speeders, repulsor-tanks, or other vehicles on the front lines, Skyrider II speeder bikes see a lot of use behind and ahead of the lines.

Classification: Speeder Bike
Height: 1.3 meters
Length: 3.2 meters
Width: 0.85 meters
Weight: 400 kg
Propulsion: Repulsorlift, cold plasma scramjet, cold plasma micro-pulsejets (6)
Armaments:
  • ECM module: The ECM module standard to the Skyrider II is a combination of sensor/fire control jammers and a stealth system. While not as powerful as the jammers on the Gryphon-class repulsortank, they are sufficient to enable the speeder bike to evade electronic detection and enemy targeting systems. They also include the option to jam communications, a task the bike's jammers are specialized towards both to prevent enemy units from reporting their positions and to prevent command-detonated explosives from detonating near the speeder bike.
  • Adamant I tridiflective shield generator: The Skyrider II mounts a single small deflector shield generator beneath the seat. Its light shielding projects in a ovoid around it and is designed to protect the vehicle and its rider from enemy small arms and light cannon fire as well as protecting them from enemy sensors. Like all Chiss shields, it can also reverse polarity to turn into a weapon lethally devastating to organics and material it contacts.
Crew: 1 driver
Passenger Capacity: 1 riding pinion
Cargo Capacity: 10 kg
Misc. Equipment:
  • Canopy shield: The speeder bike has a deployable hydrostatic bubble canopy and armor plating that can surround the rider, covering him with an airtight and lightly blaster-repellant enclosure with a minimum interference with the field of view. Deploying the canopy shield is practically a necessity when the bike is boosting with its main engine in atmosphere.
  • Fractal camouflage: The skin of this repulsor-craft is a constantly-shifting pattern that enables it to blend in very well with its background. While by no means a cloaking device, fractal camouflage enables the vehicle to hide from observers even as close as thirty meters. The camouflage is most effective in the visible and ultraviolet spectrums, but works in the infrared as well provided the vehicle has not been running over-long and is not overheated.
  • Communications suite: The comlinks installed in the speeder bike are capable of multi-channel communications with heavily encrypted transmissions, with a range of approximately 50 km. They enable the bike to link into the Immortal computer networks, sharing data with everything on the net.
  • Sensor suite: The Skyrider II's sensory suite is fairly sophisticated, though limited to line-of-sight. It includes multi-spectrum optics, magnetic imagers, lidar, and a sophisticated radar. The speeder is specialized towards countering cloaked enemies well before they pose a threat to the Immortal forces, making them useful scout units.
Role: Recon/infiltration unit.
