I registered on the forum and everything but I was wondering, where do I create my character biography/application and how do I "start" with a faction?

Don't start a faction right now. Look the ones created over and look at the stickies. they will give you the info on posting a character.

If you want to join a faction, you can post in a sign up thread in any of the faction forums. As of now, there is the Republic, the Alsakan Union, the Jedi, and Independent factions. Dark Jedi do exist but they don't have a faction forum yet.

I run the Alsakans who are basically militant environmentalists and right now, three people are training right now and I would be glad to welcome you to our ranks.

Okay, first things first. If this is your first RP forum (then again even if it isn't) you should give a quick glance to the three stickies in this board. That includes the "Guide to Roleplaying", the "Roleplaying Rules" and "Brandon Rhea's Guide to Roleplaying".

If I were you I would then begin creating your character. For your first character I would certainly recommend using one of the character templates found in this thread, and it's worth noting that the first template is easier to use at first. Also when creating your character, and writing their history make sure you check out the Useable Species List and the Useable Planets List so you don't get a tirade of members telling you what you have to change immediately. Also make sure you read The Story: The Alsakan Crisis thread and the Timeline of Galactic History. I would also suggest giving Grim's Guide to Not Making Crappy Characters a read, as it can be very helpful.

Once you've got your character, if you do not want to sign them up to a faction, you can begin roleplaying straight away. Just remember these things and you should be fine. If you do want to join a faction, it's worth having a look at each, and reading all the stickies in the main faction thread's (The Order of the Jedi, The Galactic Republic and The Alsakan Union). There are also a few independent factions which you can look up in The Independent Factions Board.

I don't believe there is a complete list of them anywhere. Anyway, your starting character, if a force sensitive, will be at padawan level and will need to be trained by a master so all they'll really have are things like meditation techniques and basic telekenesis, then your master will teach you specific powers, or tell you what powers you can learn.
