A Not so uncommon sight long ago as Yuma drifted further and further from its star.

A Hell if there ever was one, the planet known as Yuma is perhaps one of the most dangerous, most desolate, in the entire galaxy. In terms of size it sits quite much larger than most terrestrial planets, but has a mass that isn't all too much more, giving it a relatively heavy though bearable level of gravity. Without a sun to its name, this once beautiful blue marble has been reduced to a world of pure darkness, only the vast twinkling lights of the galaxy offering even the tiniest smidgen of illumination on the planets surface. The surface of Yuma, what was once a temperate planet of vast planes, forests, and oceans, has been reduced to nothing more than a bitterly cold world of metropolitan ruins, dead leafless trees, and frozen oceans. The last remnants of a long dead civilization.

The very weather of Yuma itself is lethal. Though its atmosphere is largely composed of breatheable elements such as Oxygen and Nitrogen, the air itself is not. At an average temperature of 100K the air is super cooled, freezing an unprotected man completely solid in under a minute, and killing anyone who dares breathe in a breath of air unwarmed almost immediately and most painfully as their lungs freeze. The very temperature is so low that, on occasion, it has been known for oxygen to simply rain. Snow covers the surface of a majority of the planet. Wind storms plague the planet constantly, though many places remain fairly calm most of the time they are known to strike almost at random, especially common as one gets near or sits on the planets equatorial zone, the fact that light snow covers most of the planet leads to these create intense whiteout conditions with great frequency. Another environmental hazard are the internse electrical storms that occur with relative frequency, providing the only real natural light a person will see on the planet, and kick up an immense amount of EM Interference, which combined with the whiteout conditions can easily render all but the most powerful of sensors ineffective for periods of time. The sheer cold is capable of making regular weapons such as blasters or vehicles malfunction from thermal expansion.

The only reason anyone would ever come to Yuma, would be for salvage, adventure, to hide, or remain undisturbed. The surface of the planet is dotted with the remnant of the previous inhabitants and though many smaller settlements have been destroyed many buildings within large metropolitan areas such as cities and towns as well as large industrial sites such as reactors and factories sit in fairly bad condition but are for the most part structurally intact, all connected by a wide and vast underground metro. In the streets the remnants of society sit on display, aging vehicles sitting rusted, windows broken, parked in the middle of the street.What's left of jewelry, food, and other commercial commodities sit simply with a slight coat of dust and snow in their respective stores. The only naturally survivable places exist deep deep underground.

The technology that still litters Yuma is foreign to those who would walk its surface. Old computers boasting silicon chips sit among its labs and homes, the first prototypes of faster than light technology sitting in its labs, self driving electrical vehicles, and even some running on combustible fuels sit among its vast parking garages and streets. Old military tech sits sparsely thinned out, from treaded tanks and rifles to rudimentary lasers weapons and defunct orbital platforms. Unexploded ordnance and nuclear stockpiles sit unused and waiting. Obsolete battlemechs, droids, and automated defenses sit powerless in long since abandoned military depots.

Those who have discovered Yuma, often wonder just what exactly happened, and just how a planet, especially one that had people once living on it, managed to simply leave it star. The Truth, though not well known due to the lack of translated materials, is simple but also sad in its own right. There was little that could be done to prevent the ejection of the planet, It was many decades before the fact that governments and astronomers learned of their fate, A large celestial object was heading for them, it could have hit them, missed them entirely perhaps, but it was coming and the governments of the world did their part to keep it secret, in the time leading to they did what they could, Advanced their space programs, prepared all sorts of evcuatory and preventatory measures to survive, throwing their planet into a fake artificial downturn as an excuse to draw in greater tax dollars into what was the most collaborative government black project anyone had ever come up with.

Bunkers were built, Uranium was breeded with increasing fervour, tankers and transports were 'Hijacked' by 'Terrorists', budgets were skewed and officials were extorted, all in the name of survival. Their final attempt to avert disaster came in the form of project Stargazer, the basis was simple, though their hyperdrives didn't fully work and even couldn't transport people they only needed it to work well enough to fly a heavy kinetic projectile into the offending object, if everything had gone smoothly the force it would have hit its target with would have been incredible and beyond measure. In the end though it fell flat, the tech didn't work, their Hyperspace Missile was little more than a pipe dream. In the end it missed, passing the planet within a thousand kilometers, and imparting enough accelerative force from its own gravity to throw Yuma off its orbit, slowly drifting farther and farther away with only a few years to spare before no life could be sustained.

The people were outraged, their government lied to them, betrayed them, and didn't even tell them of what was to come, wars and untold conflicts broke out, the people revolted, civil wars soon followed. And in the end they might have survived a bit longer, and just long enough at that, had they worked with one another. Now, now there is nothing.

Bases:
/////NPC/////
Jonada- Currently, Despite being mostly uninhabited, there is a small settlement still in use. Smugglers, who have come to use the planet as a safe zone due to its Migrant nature and the relative difficulty of tracking it down, have taken to converting the Jonada Vehicle Assembly Building, a large 300 Meter wide by 500 Meter long 200 meter tall heavily reinforced building designed for the construction and housing of the very first, non hyperdrive equipped, star ships they were creating. Internally the building is a myriad of catwalks and buildings stacked high and tall. Powered by an old nuclear reactor beneath the construct that had been brought back to life it is both kept warm and adequately powered. Beneath the building itself is a large parking garage which the ships of those visiting are wheeled into to keep them safe from the elements. Internally, because of its sheer size, it's noted to form clouds near the ceiling and rain on occasion. Population, 300-900.

Intent:The intent of Yuma is to provide a planet that can be used for adventuring purposes as well as the potential setup of bases by both individuals and independent factions. I also intend to personally make use of this planet in numerous roleplays across a number of characters, I have also talked to a few players who have also said they were interested in making some use of this planet for both RP purposes and for use with independent factions in the future, something which I would love to see.

This is honestly a REALLY COOL idea. You may want some more detailed back-story on how it left its star, though.

sounds fun, but as fox said may want to get details on how or why it got ejected from its home system as while it does happen the events tend to be pretty damn dramatic

All right, I added in an extra couple paragraphs to describe the events that caused it to eject.

Would you be up for a thread with Amelleous exploring the planet?
